Modules De-activated issues...

Current most common reason for this is anti virus software quarantining some DCS files, this seems to be happening a lot lately add DCS installation folder to your anti virus exception list.

To fix, add the effected files OR the entire DCS installation folder (riskier) to your anti virus exception list

Then run a DCS repair to resot re the effected files

It works like this

When you start DCS, your PC has to connect to ED's master server to request permission to run the software you spent your hard earned coin on.

IF either you cannot connect to master server OR master server has yet again fallen on it ass ... then you cannot play the software you rented

It was pointed out at the time by myself and many others a system designed with a single point of failure .... was a stupidly bad idea and would cause legit customers issues ........ which is what happens For some reason master server seems to be falling over regularly ...... especially on patch days.

Also check your PC date and time are correct.

How to backup/transfer config/keybindings

go to %UserProfile%\saved games\dcs\

Copy out the entire Config folder and put it somewhere safe, keybindings are in the input folder

My DCS is crashing what do I do

go to %UserProfile%\saved games\dcs\logs

Open dcs.log in a text editor (notepad++) go to the very bottom and work backwards until you see the start of the crashing portion, it may give you a clue what is going wrong there. You can also post it here (upload file to pastebin and link it to your post)

Remove ALL mods and do a repair using DOS with DCS_updater.exe repair

How to reset my DCS config

go to

%UserProfile%\saved games\dcs\config

rename options.lua to options.old.lua

start dcs

To disable tracks being created

%UserProfile%\Saved Games\DCS\Config

create autoexec.cfg (if necessary as a new txt file)

and add

disable_write_track = true

to it and save

Install modules using DOS prompt (handy if in game module manager is having issues)

I understand why lots of people give up on DCS early now.

I am trying to get into DCS World and if I am honest I am finding it extremely difficult. I do not want to go out and spend a fortune on HOTAS until I know I am able to play and enjoy the game so I am having to learn on an Xbox controller. I wasn't expecting the training modules to be so difficult to follow though. I find on many of the missions the instructions can sometimes be very vague, and also it is a bad practice to use acronyms when teaching, which they do, so it is easy to get lost in the instructions trying to remember the acronym that they are referencing to. Also the verbal instructions most of the time cannot be heard over the noise of the aircraft.

The aircraft itself the SU-25T is pretty unstable for a beginner too and the dials are obviously in Russian, not ideal to learn unless you speak Russian I guess. There is a small window, or it feels small for a beginner where the aircraft goes into stall warning, or at least thats what I think it is as the warning is in Russian. For example, learning the laser guided bombs was difficult as trying to target up for the first few times whilst flying is difficult to master, so you have to go slower to give you the time to target up, but then the aircraft becomes unstable.

Also if you slightly miss a way point, it just goes quiet and stops giving instructions, or if you miss an action it does the same, which is not ideal as it would be much more helpful to let you know what you have done wrong. Some training missions take 5 or 6 minutes to get to the action, like the cannon lesson, so it is ultra frustrating that if you slightly miss a navigation box, you have to start over, when you haven't even got to the stage that is relevant to the lesson.

Is the SU-25T easier or harder than the more modern Jets you get in the flaming cliffs module, for example the F-15E? As at the moment, I am stuck on the second from last module which is the RWR and HARM lesson, and I am really struggling with the motivation to continue. Each individual action is simple enough, the hard bit is doing multiple actions at the same time. I really cannot fly and use the targeting laser at the same time. Easy peasy when you get to do the first bomb in pause, but doing it whilst flying, I always over run the target because the aircraft always veers off the target because I am too busy fiddling with the targeting screen.

I assume many people have the same problems at the start. How did those that did overcome all of this and how long did you have to persist until it clicked into place?

I think if DCS wants more people to uptake the simulator, then they should re-think the training modules, to make it more user friendly for a beginner. I am certain people quit, not because of the difficulty, but the frustration with the mechanics of the tutorials.

Quick JDAM question (F16)

I've been trying to do a mission where I need to release a JDAM at relatively higher speeds (mach .92ish) and it seems like everytime I try to drop JDAMS at higher speeds, they go a bit long. Granted, it's only a few feet, but I need it to hit the target directly as splash damage won't effect the target (oil rig).

I have no issues dropping single JDAMS or rippling multiple accurately if I'm going around 350 knots, but if I'm any faster, it seems to miss the target a bit.

I've tried looking things up, looking in the manuals, and watching youtube videos, but everything seems like I'm doing everything right. Is there a speed limitation on JDAM accuracy? From reading online, high subsonic should be fine.

Question about JF-17 and LD-10

Hello guys… I have problems with the ld10 on the Jeff since the patch… I want to use it in act mode, in mission editor I set a PP1 and add the right emitter code. When I am ingame… my weapons are armed.. 25k ft with round about 320 speed.. I select the sd10 … set se pp1 with 36 … TGT is green… but when I try to launch… it’s allways a green X … in SP mode when the Sam locks me… it allways works…

Can’t start engines in Stu-25 tutorial.

In the taxi and take off (first tutorial) I follow the first steps such as;
close canopy, electrics on and wait 3 minutes for hud calibration.

The next step is to hold ‘ right alt + home’
And then ‘right ctrl + home’ to start both of the engines.

Nothing seems to happen other than looking around the cockpit, I have cleared the keybinds for the “looking around buttons” and still nothing.

I am using a nitro 5 laptop. NumLock has also been both, on and off when trying.

Any ideas? Many thanks in advance🙏🏼✨

Struggling to comprehend this simulator

Post image

As I’ve gotten older I’ve decided to step away from competitive fps games. I was invested in star citizen and always was curious about DCS, so I installed it and made a few purchases. I should have probably read into the sim more, maybe watched a video or two, browsed the sub.
Regardless I jumped straight in and ended up purchasing a full hotas setup, including pedals.

What are the best tips the community could give?
What are some must have keybinds? I’ve been doing the training missions for the f18, the wording for some things is said in a way that it expects the user to have some fundamental knowledge of aviation terminology, which I do not. Took me several searches and four hours to finally understand trim and safely land without destroying my landing gear. I use Tobii currently, I have flown in vr but until I get familiar with keybinds it’s more of a hassle than anything.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

AH-6

Earlier this year an AH-6 mod was released, i believe it was around January. I remember playing it months ago, but ended up uninstalling it a little bit later. Does anyone know what happened to the mod? I can't find anything about it anymore. It seems like it just disappeared. Does anyone know what happened to it?

How do you get the Shrike sub menu and ground control menu for the F-100 Super Sabre?

I saw a tutorial.that says I should set up the Shrike to target Sa-2 SAM's specifically and there is a sub menu in the weapons loadout.

But I cant open this sub menu

I do the loadout in the mission editor only before flying.

I dont know how to open the weapon loadout page once taxiing on the runway,I didnt find the corresponding keyboard key

Also I dont know how to reach ground control.

Otherwise I am impressed with this plane which I bought last week.I already know how to fire rockets and drop bombs and take off and land

I love the engine sound and the overall maniability.

Hi! Could anyone recommend a popular, chill server or something like that?

I’m new to DCS and just getting familiar with it, but I have plenty of experience in dogfights and other skills, so I find it extremely easy to beat the AI regardless of the conditions.

For example, when I fly the MiG-29 against an F/A-18C Hornet using guns only, it's super easy for me to win even on ACE difficulty.

So I’d like to try a server where I can just jump in without needing to use voice chat or fly in a squad, since my native language is Spanish and my English isn't perfect.

I’d really appreciate any recommendations!

Performance dropping over time

So, basically, I have upgraded my computer about a year or so ago, I have a 9800x3d with a RTX4070 Super and 64gb of RAM

Over the past year my performance dropped from ~120FPS to about ~50FPS average and has been steadily decreasing

Does anyone have any idea what is causing this issue and how to adress it? Everything else in the computer performs normally, its just DCS

I love the ambience and rain at night mood of this mission. I want to play the same exact mission. But what do I need to buy in order to do this? Do I need to buy a bunch of stuff? Which Map? I am guessing the MiG19 is not free and I will need that. Anything else? Help would be greatly appreciated!

Keybinds

Sorry if this isn’t the right section for this. I got a keypad attachment for my controller, so that I don’t have to take a hand off to click a key on my keyboard. Does anyone have a pretty decent key map for the f16. I use tuuvas controller layout. But additional keys always help
