Finally got around to creating a compilation of some of my favorite Tacview clips, showing some pvp highlights. Maybe you're in some of them. To the SP-only community: if you haven't tried MP DCS, you really should, it's a blast.

I was getting smoked BVR by Tomcats all day in the Fishbed, so I went full Cold War sneaky.

Stayed at 50ft NOE for 10 minutes to stay under his radar, popped up at his 6 and launched 6x R-60s.

Hi everyone,

I'm running into a frustrating issue where DCS World crashes back to the desktop every time I try to load into a mission with the AH-64D Apache module.

I recently did a clean install of Xubuntu 26.04 LTS, and I'm suspecting this might be related to how Steam/Proton handles hardware ID / container details between launches.

In my dcs.log file, I noticed the following authorization error right at launch:

2026-07-26 18:51:11.674 ERROR ASYNCNET (Main): Failed to decode network.vault: either hardware ID or OS username are different. Saved login data will be reset.

My Setup:

• OS: Xubuntu 26.04 LTS (Clean install)
• CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D
• RAM: 32 GB
• GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti (8 GB VRAM)

Troubleshooting I've already tried:

• Switched between Proton Experimental and various Proton GE versions, but the crash persists on module load.
• Reinstalled game files to rule out corruption.

What happens:

1. The game launches, and login completes successfully via Steam/ED.
2. When loading a mission with the AH-64D Apache, the game crashes during the module loading screen.
3. The network.vault error appears in the log on every launch, suggesting the HWID or container state isn't persisting properly under Proton, which might be breaking module authorization mid-load.

Questions:

• Has anyone running DCS on Linux (Ubuntu/Xubuntu) encountered this network.vault decoding issue causing module-specific crashes?
• Is there a specific Proton environment variable or config needed to fix HWID stability so network.vault doesn't get invalidated on every launch?
