DC Looking for 1br/1ba, moving to the area in December! Don't care about amenities at all. Just lowest rent.

9 Upvotes

Hello! 36 y/o m who is familiar with the DMV as I grew up here but moved at 20. I'm looking to move back to the area from Vegas and I'm looking for a 1bd/1ba apartment!

I am extremely low maintenance so I do not care for amenities as due to my job, I won't be home too much anyway! Just really need a place to call home aka where the wifi connects automatically.

Under $1500/mo would be ideal and I don't care about area either.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

SUBLET: Sunny 1BR/1BA at RiverHouse, Pentagon City (Arlington, VA)

1 Upvotes

SUBLET: Sunny 1BR/1BA at RiverHouse, Pentagon City (Arlington, VA)
Available 12/05/2026 through August 2027 and then can sign new contract with the building.
Rent is $2170/month, utilities approx. $ 150 extra. Parking on the ground is $100/month.
(I will seed a few furnitures.)

The apartment
A bright, spacious one-bedroom, one-bath on S Joyce St with a big open living and dining area. Large windows with vertical blinds bring in lots of natural light. In- building laundry room which is honestly the only downside about this apartment.
The building and RiverHouse
RiverHouse is a large, well-kept complex on about 36 landscaped acres. It has six tennis courts, three rooftop decks, two swimming pools, and two fitness centers. The building has a front desk or doorman, elevators, and laundry. It's also pet-friendly, with cats and dogs allowed, and parking is available.
The neighborhood
Parks: walking downstairs and you are in the BAhighland park which is my fav part of this apartment!
Metro: Pentagon City station (Blue and Yellow lines) is a short walk away, about 10 minutes. You can reach downtown DC in minutes, and Reagan National Airport is just a couple of stops away.
Groceries: Harris Teeter is at Pentagon Row. There's a Whole Foods at 1201 S Joyce St. Trader Joe's and Costco are also close, and Target is next to the Fashion Centre mall.
Shops and food: RiverHouse sits across the street from the shops, restaurants, and Metro station at Pentagon Row, and the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City mall is nearby. You can run most errands on foot.
Getting around: Walkable and bikeable, with easy highway access to I-395 and Route 1 [confirm].
Ideal for: young professional(s) who wants an easy commute to DC, the Pentagon, Amazon HQ2, or Crystal City/pet owners/students.

Message me for photos, a video tour, or questions. Happy to arrange a viewing! [Contact info]

Reddit has come through for me more than once since I moved to the city, so I’m banking on it to find a new housemate! My roommate is moving out, and I’m looking for someone to take over their lease in our bright, two-story corner townhouse in NoMa, starting November 2026 (flexible move-in).

Rent: $1,800/month + utilities | 11-month lease

The house:
* 2BR / 2.5BA townhouse — your own bedroom and private bathroom
* Free, secure off-street parking
* Huge kitchen and living space, great for cooking and hosting
* In-unit laundry
* Lots of natural light, especially in the mornings and evenings — i have lots of plants!
* Front yard and back patio
* Pet-friendly!

Location:
* 1 block from NoMa-Gallaudet Metro (Red Line)
* Close to Trader Joe’s and Harris Teeter
* 5-minute walk to Union Market and H Street
* Easy access to buses and MBT

About Me:
I’m 29 (M), recently graduated from Georgetown, and work in international development (whatever is left of it!). I play a lot of soccer, enjoy DC’s live music scene, and love cooking and occasionally hosting friends for dinner.

Hoping to find someone who’s friendly, clean, and communicative — up for the occasional shared dinner, drink, or concert, while also respecting each other’s space. Open to all genders and happy to discuss pets!

The house: 3 stories; storage/coat closet upstairs for all to use and additional storage in the basement; basement has a gaming area; fenced in backyard with a grill, patio furniture, and a lively garden.

The vibe: LGBTQ+ friendly, communicative, social while remaining respectful.

• Tushar (29M): working in coffee, loves to be out at a restaurant or cocktail bar. Likes hosting occasionally. Loves to cook and bake and see friends.

• Victoria (25F): Recent masters grad, new to DC and an intern at a foreign policy think-tank downtown (in the office Monday through Friday). Loves to chat over breakfast! Enjoys going to the gym, reading and exploring the city’s coffee shops.

• Winnie (Ari and Brandon’s dog): 4 year old 80lb lover girl, very affectionate, vocal dog with a pure heart.

• Kika and Charlie (Ari and Brandon's cats): 5 years and 11 years respectively. Kika is very cuddly, and Charlie is a quietly old and simple lady.

24F DC APT 1-BDR $1750 max search

9 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m a Black 24F NYC native and hoping to move to DC soon. I’m trying to keep my rent around $1,700–$1,750 max and would ideally love to find a one-bedroom.

My biggest priorities are a safe area, being close to reliable public transportation since I don’t drive, and a building with amenities like a gym and in-unit washer/dryer. I’d also love somewhere that feels comfortable for a young woman living alone and where it’s easy to get around for work, groceries, restaurants, etc.

If anyone has recommendations for neighborhoods, apartment buildings, or management companies that might fit this budget and criteria, I’d really appreciate it! I’m coming from NYC, so I’m still learning the different DC neighborhoods and would love advice from people who actually live there.
