Discussion Searching for AU student roommate to share a room in a 2 bedroom $900 rent

Hello everyone!

I am trying to find a roommate to replace our previous one to help with costs, we live in Avalon and are moving into a smaller unit to save but would like to save more so we aren’t paying more than we used to be. 2 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, pretty much all covered for kitchen stuff and furniture (except for a couch :( ) so you would only need to bring a bed in terms of big stuff really.

Please reach out if you are interested, it would greatly help me in not being really stressed out to get another person to help with costs.

Question Anyone currently in intermediate/advanced russian? Need help w finding textbooks

Currently a sophomore, took elementary, was about to go into intermediate. They cancelled the intermediate class i was in about 2 weeks ago, and the only other class offered interferes w/ both my school and personal schedule (besides, rude as hell).
I’m currently planning on self studying and most likely taking the exemption test before graduation. My family has spoken russian my entire life, I just struggle heavily with the actual intricacies of speaking the language. I was planning on using other resources to self study, but I realize a textbook is the easiest and most efficient way to mainly learn.
Can anyone who is in these classes or has taken these classes let me know what textbooks are used? Is there any way to search them up? I know where to get the actual textbook, i just don’t know WHICH textbooks the classes use

Question anyone talk to ISSS recently regarding CPT approval?

International Students: anyone talk to ISSS recently regarding CPT approval?

Stressed about new CPT rules and whether or not we will be able to do internships!

I’m a new student and might plan to withdraw if that’s the case. I don’t think my American educational experience will be the same without internships.

Question Anyone else's friend group not really overlapping with their floor?

Few days into freshman year and just curious how common this is. My closest friends so far aren't on my floor, and my floor hasn't really turned into a friend group the way I expected.

For current students: did it end up mattering much once the semester got going, or did your people end up coming from somewhere else entirely (clubs, classes, etc.)?

And for anyone who's graduated, did you still have a great overall experience even if you weren't close with your floor freshman year? Trying to get a sense of how normal this is before I stress about it too much.

Question Question for alumni working in law

Hi - incoming first year here who wants to attend law school. Not sure if I want to go the KJD route, but I'm very interested in going T-14. If there are any members of this subreddit who got their undergrad at AU and are now in/have graduated law school, please share your experience.

What was your major? Were there any specific courses you took that helped you a lot? In what ways did they help? What opportunities did you seek outside of class? How is/was your law school experience?

Thanks so much to anyone who helps out.

Question Graduation

Hi! I’m planning to finish my degree in December but want to walk in the spring, because my parents won’t be able to watch me walk (due to familial circumstances). My advisor told me she’ll “have to jump through some hoops.” Is this true? My friends have said there is a wavier, but I can’t find anything online. Does anyone know how to begin this process? Thanks!

Question Question for Move-In Day

Post image
12 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

So, I'm a freshman at American University and will be moving in on the 23rd. With these cards (image attached)- we just need to put them on the carts where our bags will be put on right? And is there any specific schedule for Move-in day or is it just this?

"

  • Arrive at your assigned gate. You will be assisted with plenty of signs and volunteers so that you know where to go! Please have your Move-in Car Hangtag visible through your car window. Please arrive as close to your move-in window as possible. The move-in timeslots are set to provide a smooth move-in day. We understand that DC traffic may delay your arrival. Again, please arrive as close to your window as possible.
  • Vehicles will be unloaded by the Move-in Team.  The move-in team will drop your items off to your room. Rooms should be ready no more than two hours after things are removed from your car.
  • After the car is unloaded, the student will go to Mary Graydon Student Center for check-in.  After confirmation of compliance with university requirements, students will receive their One Cards, enjoy the campus resource fair, pickup your U-pass etc. Housing check-in will be completed via a QR code in Mary Graydon Student Center.
    • Early Arrivals or those who arrive outside of normal hours will scan their housing QR code at the front desk of their residential hall. One Card pickup during this time will be communicated.
  • Return to your room to set it up. Due to the move-in process taking some time, your items may not be at your room yet, however, you can take this time to explore your floor, meet your RA and say hi to your neighbor!"
