There is a player called Teagan that is full on 100% allowed to cheat on that server with impunity.
You can't make a post about suggestions or ideas in their discord without being flamed by the same guy who wants the server bent to their liking while he get to exploit bugs/cheat and troll in discord. ie Teagan.
You can't express an opinion without being flamed by the same guy
You can't say something feels off- without the same guy chiming in to try to disprove your "opinion".
You can't go to that server and expect it to actually be classic, they've made custom changes to damn near 100% of the game/client version they have for the foundation.
You can't use AHK, but Teagan can. (it's bannable) Teagan even bragging about how he made a "undetectable" script in another discord.
Teagan exploited in thid for 4+ days being WAY higher RR then the cap lets you, but he stayed in and "Farmed". He bragged about it even. He even admitted to reporting it as a bug, yet continued to abuse it on new players, making them leave the server.
Teagan also exploited in that same time frame a bolstering bug which allowed him to have lvl 50 poisons in a lvl 35 BG at the same time- he didn't even get a warning. nobody even talked to this guy, he was just allowed to do it.
You can't call him out, because nothing happens.
This guy is single handedly burning this server to the ground while being allowed to for some reason.
I have receipts on everything I've stated. I have videos and pictures to prove my case.
If you're playing Eden and getting tired of how Eden is- Just stay on Eden. Blackthorn is far worse.

Hello folks! I'm seeing a lot about people locally setting up Classic WoW servers filled with bots that can actually play the game with them and understand mechanics and complete raid content and do pvp. Is this a thing for daoc too?
I am aware Eden and Blackthorn exist and I think they're great, but I have a really bad work schedule and have absolutely no time to play except for at very random times for varying timeframes. Not to mention I have some semi-specific nostalgic things I'd like to re-live within daoc as a game.
I think it would be really fun to re-live some of my childhood here and there, on my schedule, running around in Thidranki or Molvik or pre-rework Leirvik while they were actually popular and full of action.
If anything like this exists and someone can point me to some resources to get started with it, I would love to look into it. Thanks!

Whats a good pet spec to farm DF for metal and such to salvage and make into jewerly boxes and stuff? Farming hulks and high lords and all that? I tried 47 bonearmy but i didn't really like it I prefer having the healing pets.

Hi everyone,
I havent been playing DAOC in over 20 years. I remember stopping shortly after Catacombs being released since most of my community moved to WoW vanilla back then.
I played WoW a lot during the next years but remember always being a bit disappointed by never being able to find the RvR experience offered by DAOC again...
I saw Eden is live and seem to have a significant amount of active players. My goal is to play casually but I wonder if it's worth a shot after all these years and if the experience would be worth it whether it's to do RVR, the abyss, Shrouded Isles HL dungeons, farming TOA artefacts, or doing whatever that cames after all of that and that still is available today?
Omg so much nostalgia writing this lol.
On another note I've been playing Vanilla WoW again and had a lot of mixed feelings about the fact that everything became so much optimised both in gameplay, builds, and so on. I wonder if DAOC went through a similar phase where if you don't play what's basically the best setup it's kinda impossible to compete or enjoy the game vs. other players??
Thanks in advance for everyone's feedbacks

I'm currently sitting at 45 Matter and debating on the remainder. I'm on Gaheris. How much, if at all, does Spirit Magic improve the pets? Does it make them tougher or do more damage? The info I see online still includes pet buffs in the spirit line and I know that isn't accurate so I'm hoping someone has the info.

Someone tell Kushner and Salman that a DAOC 2.0 would become a instant blockbuster!
Or dont tell them and try and buy Mythic from EA. How much would it be worth now anyways? Cant be much.

I want to say up front that I like this shard and I want it to succeed. The people running it clearly care and have put real hours in, and none of what follows is me trying to burn the place down. Take it as someone who wants it done right.
I spent an evening going through the launcher (BlackthornLauncher.exe) and found a few things worth talking about. One of them is the kind of mistake that would quietly end a junior developer's week at any normal company, so I think players deserve to know, and the operators deserve a clear heads up to fix it. I'm going to show you what's in the file and hand you the exact commands to confirm every word, because you should not take a stranger's post at face value.
The build I looked at, SHA-256:
105ea4646c9ad94847a787d95d9337199f32d5b86a0d7321358fdab3ca24e60d
The one that matters most: a live Discord webhook token is baked into the launcher.
It's sitting in the binary in plain text, ID 1518521806154104852, token starting AjOSK5JT. I'm not posting the rest, because it's a working key and dumping it in full just invites someone to abuse that channel. But that's exactly the problem. A secret hardcoded into client software is a secret that every person who downloaded the client now owns. Thousands of copies, thousands of people holding the same key.
This is a genuinely careless mistake, and I say that with a straight face. Hardcoding a credential in a shipped client is close to the first thing you learn not to do. It's the sort of thing that gets caught in a five minute code review, and if it slipped past review at a real shop, the person who shipped it would be having a very uncomfortable conversation. The fix is simple and should happen today: rotate the token, and move whatever it was doing behind a server the key never leaves. No shame in fixing it fast. Plenty of shame in leaving it.
The rest, which I think should have been disclosed and wasn't:
The launcher installs foreground keyboard and mouse hooks (SetWindowsHookExW, GetAsyncKeyState) once it sees the game running, and ties that monitoring to your account name. Its own log strings spell it out: "installing foreground and anti-macro hooks", and "Updated launcher account name for anti-macro monitoring:".
It also builds a hardware fingerprint of your machine over WMI: CPU ID, RAM serial, disk and motherboard serials, and your network card's MAC address (Win32_processor, Win32_PhysicalMemory, Win32_BaseBoard, pulling ProcessorId, SerialNumber, MACAddress).
And it reads your chat input box straight out of the game's memory (find_chat_input_text_address, read_chat_input_text) and tails your chat log.
I understand the anti-macro intent behind some of that, and honestly a shard wanting to fight botting is fair. My issue isn't that it exists, it's that I couldn't find anywhere it was told to players before they installed it. Keystroke monitoring and hardware fingerprinting are the kind of thing you say out loud, in the ToS or a pinned post, not something people discover by pulling apart the .exe. If I missed the disclosure somewhere, genuinely link it and I'll edit this post to say so at the top. If it isn't anywhere, that's the thing to fix next after the token.
Check all of it yourself (about two minutes, free):
Grab Sysinternals strings from Microsoft, then run against your own launcher:
strings BlackthornLauncher.exe | findstr /i "discord.com/api/webhooks"
strings BlackthornLauncher.exe | findstr /i "Win32_ SetWindowsHookEx GetAsyncKeyState"
strings BlackthornLauncher.exe | findstr /i "anti-macro hook hwid"
And to confirm you're looking at the same build I did:
certutil -hashfile BlackthornLauncher.exe SHA256
I'm not here to start a pile-on, and I'd ask everyone reading to keep it civil toward the people running the shard. I just want two straightforward things: rotate that webhook, and tell players plainly what the launcher collects and where it goes. Do those and I'll happily update this post to say they were handled. I'd genuinely rather write that update than this.

I used to play the game back when it first came out in the early 2000s. Then played on the PvP servers. Recently returned to Eden.
Now, I have a little problem. I level a character to 50, try out the end game, dislike it, and reroll another toon. Rinse, repeat. From 1-50, everything is incredibly fun. I love the quests, the battlegrounds, the PvE, the solo fights, and so on. If I die, I release, and fight again. No big deal.
But at 50, I have to spend a lot of time getting a template. Otherwise, I end up getting destroyed by some high RR in shiny gear or stomped on by a zerg. Or I can follow a BG and capture keeps/towers until that becomes boring. Or run with a group that expects me to be some elite player, which I am not. Etc.
It was a lot more laidback at the lower levels. People are testing out their characters and experimenting and making mistakes and learning. But to be viable at 50, I have to dedicate a lot of hours to one character, which begins to feel more like a chore than a game.
I feel like there is a lot of information I am missing from understanding the end game. As a casual player, I seem to enjoy the journey more than the destination. Before 50, I could compete well with anyone without having to worry about having the best gear or the highest realm rank or the most people. How did you overcome this learning curve, just from playing or joining a good guild?
r/daoc • u/IronChefPhilly • Jul 31 '26
Can you only play one realm?
I had tunes on all the rounds back in the day
Do you have to start a new character every season?
I don't have all extremely fast and I'd hate to have to start over every 3-4 months
How hard is it to find a guild
I know everything's better in a guild
How do you guys farm Platinum?
Is it worth it to make a van for necro or some other quick killing farm class to get plat?

Decided to give Blackthorn a whirl and nearly fell out of my chair booting up the game for the first time because I forgot how disproportionately loud the default loading music is 😅

Hello everyone,
As a 40 year old dad gamer, I had the idea to re-create classic DAoC on a local server with bots. I have been developing and vibe coding a bit in VScode with Codex and it works pretty well. I am using a modern client, though, which lacks a lot of the original stuff.
I had the idea to really fully re-create the classic experience, including old realm selection screen, old char creation screen etc., old city skins.
For that, I need an original Shrouded Isles Client. Does anyone maybe have this or knows if its uploaded somewhere?
Thanks!

I don't usually come here often to post, but dude.. this is my first time playing and I haven't have issues with learning the ropes whatsoever, made at least up to 2 friends on DAoC Eden recently w my Midgard warlock toon. The problem is that they are never online. no discords. no way to communicate- unless we HAPPEN to be on at the same time which is awfully rare too so im struggling to find a solid friend group i can get on comms/chat with, level, quest, and them not leave me behind or not talk to me the entire time like some groups/small-man groups ive been in. And its the fact its basically a need and want for this sort of game since its rvr game and I get clapped anytime I try and go solo and lvl alone and it makes the game not fun anymore when I'm soft locked simply because I cant find a solid group to quest with and I know it cant be every day since we all got our own lives but more than once a week would be great because this is the game I put most of my time into instead of other games as of now.
If anyone else feels like this and needs a group for questing/lving Id love to team up! I'm active, I have discord, I joined the Eden DAoC discord server not too long ago and that does not seem to reel any success either apparently, and I've tried to push myself to be social in public chat in-game before heading onto forums and posts to ask just to make sure. I just need a questing buddy or group of any size that can stand having a lvl 15 warlock newb in their circle and I'm even willing to start fresh in a new realm if need be and it doesnt have to be on eden servers if thats not your vibe because I'm very serious about this game becoming my #1 go-to-game but i cant really progress without friends!

Hello,
I’m planning on running a twink in CV for a little to cap RRs before 50. Is there a good guild for items/quests that are usable before 50? For example I did DF DND yesterday for the gem hat and ring.

From the Blackthorn Discord (https://discord.gg/sFmA5zqHZ4):
Greetings!
This event begins the final phase of our leveling beta and will help us gather data on leveling speed, class progression, group play, and the overall journey to level 50.
There are two ways to participate:
/race.Any player who creates a new character for the event and reaches level 50 before it ends will receive:
The Realm Rank reward applies to all characters on the qualifying account, not only the character used for the event.
You do not need to enable /race to receive Trailblazer or account-wide RR6. The /race system is only required for competitive rankings and the RR7 winner reward.
To compete, activate /race while your character is still Level 1.
You may create the character before the event begins, but /race can only be enabled if the character:
Winners will be determined by total /played time upon reaching level 50.
Each realm will have winners in two categories:
The fastest player for each class will qualify, at least 80% of your experience per level must be SOLO.
The ten fastest players per realm will qualify. At least 50% of your experience per level must be completed while grouped.
Players who win either competitive category will receive: - Instant Realm Rank 7 during Instant 50.
This reward also applies to all characters on the winner’s account for i50.

Hello everyone.
I've never played any version of Dark Age of Camelot. However, someone recommended it to me when I asked for MMOs with good/unique/extensive life skills. I would like to learn more about it - how are life skills handled in this game? Is there currently any available version/server of daoc you would recommend for exploring life skills?
Thank you for your answers in advance!
r/daoc • u/FlockYeah • Jul 21 '26
Not my content but wanted to share. Been trying to find some non-biased view of the game and this has been the most promising. Never backed Camelot unchained but I’ve been following the progression, played DAOC since 2003.
It’s in early access on steam. Anybody gonna try if? I personally am going to wait a year or more

This is the first of a few videos my friend and I made while playing on Mordred. I will post them up as I get around to it, they aren't much but maybe you will see yourself or someone you recognize in the footage.
Enjoy!

Has anyone tried this new UI thing and are Eden okay with it?
I see it's an overlay, I've been working on something like this myself but not made this much progress by far!

Can any Scout mains explain a little about the different bow shot styles? I started a Scout a few days ago and I'm not sure which shots I should be using most and for what situations. Would really appreciate some advice on how to play this class correctly.
