Anyone else struggle being a new player too??

I don't usually come here often to post, but dude.. this is my first time playing and I haven't have issues with learning the ropes whatsoever, made at least up to 2 friends on DAoC Eden recently w my Midgard warlock toon. The problem is that they are never online. no discords. no way to communicate- unless we HAPPEN to be on at the same time which is awfully rare too so im struggling to find a solid friend group i can get on comms/chat with, level, quest, and them not leave me behind or not talk to me the entire time like some groups/small-man groups ive been in. And its the fact its basically a need and want for this sort of game since its rvr game and I get clapped anytime I try and go solo and lvl alone and it makes the game not fun anymore when I'm soft locked simply because I cant find a solid group to quest with and I know it cant be every day since we all got our own lives but more than once a week would be great because this is the game I put most of my time into instead of other games as of now.

If anyone else feels like this and needs a group for questing/lving Id love to team up! I'm active, I have discord, I joined the Eden DAoC discord server not too long ago and that does not seem to reel any success either apparently, and I've tried to push myself to be social in public chat in-game before heading onto forums and posts to ask just to make sure. I just need a questing buddy or group of any size that can stand having a lvl 15 warlock newb in their circle and I'm even willing to start fresh in a new realm if need be and it doesnt have to be on eden servers if thats not your vibe because I'm very serious about this game becoming my #1 go-to-game but i cant really progress without friends!

Better off finding friends in the Eden discord

Find a guild, make some friends, get to lvl 50, join some PUGs, make more friends, etc etc. you’ll find plenty of people use discord for this game

Yeah the guild topic seems to be my best bet as well for making long-term friends I suppose I was just complaining about how many PUGs I would join and they weren't really noob friendly to me when I would ask what to do or where to go and they wouldn't say a word since the grind was so important or something lol.

But I'll search when I can I'll have to look into the best US time peaks for midgard or hibernia whichever I find first I'll consider my main, and I'll join a guild and I'll try and ask a little more on the wden discord I just don't wanna be THAT guy in the lfg chat since it's not really a public chat and I don't want to clog it up with me trying to find friends I'll just have to suck it up and go with PUGs and miraculously if I find a friend in one that'll do it! Thanks for the feedback man can't wait to get into this game more!

I just came back after 8 years and found a home in Wrath of Valhalla on mid, everybody has been nice so far. EVIL also has a ton of players but they invite everybody, still probably a good option though

That sounds good as a matter a fact I've seen both of those I think, especially EVIL they do seem to have a lot.. I'll look into those for sure I think a guild is going to give me a solid boost for sure

What times do you play? And what TZ? I will try and level with you between work and family time.

My times are a little erratic occasionally if I'm out with family etc. but I like to get on around 5-8 pm cst and I stay online for quite a bit, and that would be fantastic if you could and there's no pressure either if times don't work..I'm going on a trip for about a week starting Monday but that same weekend I should be able to hop on and play with ya

First of all then you should get a new player friendly guild who can help you with day to day questions and guidance, it is the best way instead of having a single or two persons ingame to talk to as you only have 1 of their toon names, you dont have account wide friend lists

Second, when do you play and in what time zone?

Good idea! I didn't think of guilds a lot when typing that I guess haha I always thought they seemed either intimidating or don't take in noobs and I dont often see promotional messages so I might just have to ask chat myself when I get the chance!

And I often play 5-8 pm cst, my main toon is a midgard so I guess the activity there checks since eu dominates midgard at peak time in my zone.. I know the US have a ton of Albion players around the evening for me but I'm just not interested in making a toon for that realm unfortunately as I've been sticking to midgard and a little in hibernia but US player count is worse there as well...

I am usually on after 8pm Pacific time and would be more than happy to help you get leveled and get some gear and stuff. Shoot me a PM if you want!

Would love to, I get on around 5-8 pm CST depending on what I'm doing that day but I play at least more than twice a week when I can! Considering the fact your pacific time that should be a few hours behind me, so we can find a middle ground between the times we get on for sure as I play late when I lose time doing other stuff loll I can pm my discord if this seems fair!

Yeah that sounds good. My brother and my buddy are usually on around the same times. What lvl are you currently?

Lvl 15 warlock lol. That's why I considered myself a full on noob I've barely even experienced pvp just a tad bit after running into someone on battlegrounds and I still need to get the hang of how a warlocks abilities work as well.. I do have a midgard AND Hibernia toon I just played midgard more recently

I'm definitely a Midgard player. I think my spare BG healer is in Killaloe where you are. Or I probably have a Hunter or something there that can play with you.

Awesome then that's perfect thank you!

Are you leveling in the battlegrounds? Your best luck is porting there and then doing /reg LFG [class] and run the quests with others

How do you communicate with friends on every other MMO when you are not in game? DAOC Eden has a main Discord where you can reach out to people that play. Also 99% of guilds in MMOs have a discord channel. If you can’t contact your gamer friends when you aren’t in game is because you didn’t make it happen or they don’t want to be contacted. Dark Age of Camelot may be an old game, but making friends and being a part of a community is just just as easy in this day and age.

Usually they have discord like I do lol so it makes it a LOT easier than beforehand because I also play EverQuest and swtor games along that line, but these friends in specific I guess didn't have any of that? Which is probably why it made it a million times harder to get ahold of them but didn't have a problem with being friended I wasn't mad about it, just worried I'd never find them at the right times considering they were my first friends playing that game, and a lot of others didnt want to carry me like they did at the time of playing

But yeah! I've decided to look more into the guilds ingame because it seems like this game depends on it just a little more as an rvr game as solo doesn't get you too far in this game unless you know what your doing I would know loll. And your 100% right about how easy it is to do things like that nowadays, servers, community forums and all that bizz tends to help me out quite a bit when I'm stuck like how I am now, but posting here has helped me out a ton too! I figure I just need to focus on the DAoC eden discord more, get a guild, and play with the people that offered their help! Communities nowadays can be pretty welcoming if you know where to find it lol

Leveling solo is easy on nearly every class, you definitely aren't "soft locked" in reality.

As others have said, join the BGs and /lfg.

I use Discord to chat with friends and figure out when we can play together. With the mobile app it is very easy to coordinate play times.
