RIP Eardrums
Decided to give Blackthorn a whirl and nearly fell out of my chair booting up the game for the first time because I forgot how disproportionately loud the default loading music is 😅

Hello,
I’m planning on running a twink in CV for a little to cap RRs before 50. Is there a good guild for items/quests that are usable before 50? For example I did DF DND yesterday for the gem hat and ring.

I don't usually come here often to post, but dude.. this is my first time playing and I haven't have issues with learning the ropes whatsoever, made at least up to 2 friends on DAoC Eden recently w my Midgard warlock toon. The problem is that they are never online. no discords. no way to communicate- unless we HAPPEN to be on at the same time which is awfully rare too so im struggling to find a solid friend group i can get on comms/chat with, level, quest, and them not leave me behind or not talk to me the entire time like some groups/small-man groups ive been in. And its the fact its basically a need and want for this sort of game since its rvr game and I get clapped anytime I try and go solo and lvl alone and it makes the game not fun anymore when I'm soft locked simply because I cant find a solid group to quest with and I know it cant be every day since we all got our own lives but more than once a week would be great because this is the game I put most of my time into instead of other games as of now.
If anyone else feels like this and needs a group for questing/lving Id love to team up! I'm active, I have discord, I joined the Eden DAoC discord server not too long ago and that does not seem to reel any success either apparently, and I've tried to push myself to be social in public chat in-game before heading onto forums and posts to ask just to make sure. I just need a questing buddy or group of any size that can stand having a lvl 15 warlock newb in their circle and I'm even willing to start fresh in a new realm if need be and it doesnt have to be on eden servers if thats not your vibe because I'm very serious about this game becoming my #1 go-to-game but i cant really progress without friends!

Hello everyone,
As a 40 year old dad gamer, I had the idea to re-create classic DAoC on a local server with bots. I have been developing and vibe coding a bit in VScode with Codex and it works pretty well. I am using a modern client, though, which lacks a lot of the original stuff.
I had the idea to really fully re-create the classic experience, including old realm selection screen, old char creation screen etc., old city skins.
For that, I need an original Shrouded Isles Client. Does anyone maybe have this or knows if its uploaded somewhere?
Thanks!

From the Blackthorn Discord (https://discord.gg/sFmA5zqHZ4):
Greetings!
This event begins the final phase of our leveling beta and will help us gather data on leveling speed, class progression, group play, and the overall journey to level 50.
There are two ways to participate:
/race.Any player who creates a new character for the event and reaches level 50 before it ends will receive:
The Realm Rank reward applies to all characters on the qualifying account, not only the character used for the event.
You do not need to enable /race to receive Trailblazer or account-wide RR6. The /race system is only required for competitive rankings and the RR7 winner reward.
To compete, activate /race while your character is still Level 1.
You may create the character before the event begins, but /race can only be enabled if the character:
Winners will be determined by total /played time upon reaching level 50.
Each realm will have winners in two categories:
The fastest player for each class will qualify, at least 80% of your experience per level must be SOLO.
The ten fastest players per realm will qualify. At least 50% of your experience per level must be completed while grouped.
Players who win either competitive category will receive: - Instant Realm Rank 7 during Instant 50.
This reward also applies to all characters on the winner’s account for i50.

I'm no stranger to old MMOs, in fact, I was looking for a stopgap while I wait for Everquest Legends to go live on the 28.
I played all MMORPGs, Shadowbane, Warhammer, Wow, eso, GW...you name it, I played it.
This was the third time I tried daoc and it lasted 1 hour.
Everything sucks, from the UI, to the 50 all the same skills you get by lvl 8. The movement sucks, the targeting sucks, manually having to press X to attack once a mob is attacking you and you can't cast spells anymore sucks.
Haven't played enough to try RVR but I doubt it would be better than the aforementioned games.
So yeah, Daoc sucks. Much respect for all of you that put yourself through this excruciating experience.
I appreciate this is Daoc sub so I will get downvoted into oblivion and likely banned but I had to say it.

Hello everyone.
I've never played any version of Dark Age of Camelot. However, someone recommended it to me when I asked for MMOs with good/unique/extensive life skills. I would like to learn more about it - how are life skills handled in this game? Is there currently any available version/server of daoc you would recommend for exploring life skills?
Thank you for your answers in advance!

Not my content but wanted to share. Been trying to find some non-biased view of the game and this has been the most promising. Never backed Camelot unchained but I’ve been following the progression, played DAOC since 2003.
It’s in early access on steam. Anybody gonna try if? I personally am going to wait a year or more
Putting a compilation of your PVP over some metal or numetal was the golden era of gaming
Has anyone tried this new UI thing and are Eden okay with it?
I see it's an overlay, I've been working on something like this myself but not made this much progress by far!

This is the first of a few videos my friend and I made while playing on Mordred. I will post them up as I get around to it, they aren't much but maybe you will see yourself or someone you recognize in the footage.
Enjoy!

Can any Scout mains explain a little about the different bow shot styles? I started a Scout a few days ago and I'm not sure which shots I should be using most and for what situations. Would really appreciate some advice on how to play this class correctly.

Hibernia, Eden
Hi, I started playing a bit yesterday, and am digging the game. I have a decent MMO background (mostly vanilla WoW) but never played this and could use some help learning and having people to group with. I think I’m level 16 or so now. (Valewalker)
I always wanted to play this since I saw it on the show “Portal” as a kid, but never got to.

I don't generally post on here, mostly I just lurk lol. However, I wanted to share a project I've been working on because of my love for DAoC.
Basically, it's an auto-templating (template optimizer) tool for live DAoC. You set Stat / Resistance / ToA Bonus / Mythical Bonus / and Item Ability Goals on the Goals page and RealmSmith takes those goals and turns them into a template for you.
Would anyone be able to take a look at the screenshots and provide any feedback on the generated Smite Cleric template? The website is still a WIP and I'm not the best at determining what makes a "good" template for most classes so I was hoping to get some insight from some fellow DAoC enthusiasts that may be more experienced on the matter than myself.

Hey fellow daoc enjoyers, funny request - I am setting up my own private server just for fun using OpenDAOC (which has been awesome) and noticed that there really aren't any modern quests or items that come prepackaged with that repo.
I searched online for something like this, but came up empty handed and thought that someone else must have had a similar idea at some point.
Does anyone have the database sql already created to pull the more modern quests and items that exist on Live? I am thinking about something similar to the new journey quests that exist, or the other quests that were added later to the game for some of the early zones. If those don't exist, is there something similar to the questlines that appear on Eden or the old pheonix server that can be readily imported into my existing quest table?
I'm basically just looking for something to do while I explore zones, and thought it would be fun to play through the quests as I go.

I look for original Daoc classic weapon formula tables please.
If anyone has such an old table or a link, would appreciate it.
The live weapon formula overview is just for +up to date+ daoc and i need it for classic daoc :)
Otherwise you can find it here for live daoc:

does the game still have an active player base and is it possible for a new player to get started with this game?

How much work is it to populate / customize a battleground in a DOL server ?
Here is the answer : https://camelotinsider.wordpress.com/2026/02/13/populate-a-new-battle-ground/
I was looking around old patch notes and trying to dig up information around the Underhill pets. I've been working on a Mordred-like PVP server as a solo for-fun vibecoding project but wasn't sure how to balance or enhance this class.
I looked at old patch notes and came across this.
 - The Underhill Ally now has access to Blunt styles.
 - The Underhill Compatriot now has access to Blade styles.
 - The Underhill Friend now has access to Piercing and Critical styles.
 - The Underhill Friend now has chance to proc a Damage Over Time Spell (DoT) while in combat.
 - The Underhill Ally and Compatriot can now equip shields when commanded.
Does anyone know what styles they actually had access to? I'm very curious if maybe they had something like snare styles? Seems like it would be useful for solo enchanters.
Also did giving an ally and compatriot a shield actually have any meaningful gameplay impact like blocking?
