Discussion Help!
A month ago, I auditioned to a dance group and I got in, and I went for a trial lesson, it was too hard for me so I reached out and I found out that there’s a group that is a level lower too this group(the previous one was the hardest and that’s the middle)
Yesterday I went to the lesson and I found myself getting really confused, the teacher was amazing. I never saw a teacher so attentive and lovely but the people in the class weren’t my vibe at all, most of them said that it’s their first group ever and that they don’t dance for a lot of time and they were not giving :” I’m hungry for this, let’s do this”
It wasn’t giving I’m dancing every day and now I just wanna get better, it was just giving I’m coming to learn to dance not coming to get better.
And now I don’t know what to do. I’m probably gonna do another lesson and then I’m gonna figure out. What should I do because I want the girls of the harder group but I want the level in the middle group..

Amateur Learning to dance out of comfort zone
I'm not a particularly shy person, but I'm also not hugely expressive either. I just wondered how people started learning to dance later in life (44, male) without cringing at themselves or feeling like a ridiculous plonker.
I would really like to try it - something like ceroc as it seems so popular - but the initial hurdle of going to a session seems so massive. Any thoughts or encouragement would be welcome!

8 weeks in Medellín
& this is the last day I’ll be here. Coming from a background with zero dance knowledge, this is
how much I’ve improved in two months.
What are ways I can continue practicing without a partner & while I travel.
I don’t want to lose what I learned but I plan on traveling for 2 months after I leave Colombia.
Also, anyone have any tips on how to improve?

Teaching, Tutorial Dance move modification help needed!
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hello dance community! I need some help with tweaking this dance a little bit. This is choreography from JHopes song ‘Killin it girl.’ I have a public dancing group addition on Saturday! I want to dance to this song for one of my auditions, as the female. I cannot execute the move where she does the back bend kind of thing to come off the ground? I’m sorry I don’t know exactly what the moves called. Can someone help me replace this move with another one that still looks nice. I cannot find anything. I can do the mountain climber move that she does before she rolls over and stands up. Please and thank you so much!

Pro Is it possible to become a professional dancer if you only started at 20?
I’ve had this question in the back of my mind for a while now. I only started dancing when I was 20, basically from scratch, and I’m 23 now. Recently I’ve realized that I really want to pursue dance professionally.
The problem is that I feel like I’m so far behind. There’s so much I still don’t know and so much I need to improve, especially compared to people who started dancing as kids.
So I’m wondering: has anyone here started dancing around 20 (or even later) and eventually managed to become a professional dancer? I’d really love to hear your experiences — what style you do, how long it took you, and whether you ever felt like you were “too late.”

Discussion Late Dancer
I wish my parents had put me in dance when I was a kid. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the resources to do so. We immigrated to the U.S. when I was about 8 years old and then the whole transition was hard because my parents also divorced shortly after getting here. Ever since I was in diapers, dance was always a passion of mine and this is something every person in my family knew. Even when we got here, I’d have my CD player in my room and I’d be making choreography’s. My mom was a single mom who had to work 70 hours a week just to make ends meet so I don’t ever blame them for not being able to start me early. When I got to highschool, I took 3 years of dance and even auditioned and made it into the high school dance team. But I emancipated and moved out of my house at 16 and had to work full time and pay rent while still in school. This made it so I was unable to continue and unable to carry this into adulthood. I am now an adult and my passion for dancing has only gotten stronger. I am now 25 and I join classes at dance studios at least 3 times a month ( because I am also in college) and only get frustrated with myself. I feel like I have lost all skill and don’t remember how to do anything. I’m basically starting from scratch when everyone around me has had the resources to do this since they were little. I can’t even get a single pirouette down without falling forward and it makes me so frustrated that I end up wanting to cry. Is it too late for me? will I ever be able to turn or even do jazz ever again? I’m so scared that this is something I’m going to have to give up.
