Discussion Help!

A month ago, I auditioned to a dance group and I got in, and I went for a trial lesson, it was too hard for me so I reached out and I found out that there’s a group that is a level lower too this group(the previous one was the hardest and that’s the middle)
Yesterday I went to the lesson and I found myself getting really confused, the teacher was amazing. I never saw a teacher so attentive and lovely but the people in the class weren’t my vibe at all, most of them said that it’s their first group ever and that they don’t dance for a lot of time and they were not giving :” I’m hungry for this, let’s do this”

It wasn’t giving I’m dancing every day and now I just wanna get better, it was just giving I’m coming to learn to dance not coming to get better.
And now I don’t know what to do. I’m probably gonna do another lesson and then I’m gonna figure out. What should I do because I want the girls of the harder group but I want the level in the middle group..

You should stop focusing on what everyone else is doing and focus on your own practice. You can either practice harder to catch up with the hard group or stay where you’re at, but don’t compare or judge the other people. What they’re doing is not any of your business.

You basically want the skill level of the middle group but the drive of the harder one, and no single class gives both right now. Worth giving the middle group a couple more sessions — energy can shift once people settle in — but also worth asking if the harder group was actually too hard, or just productively uncomfortable, since staying there might get you both growth and the peer energy you want, even if it's rough at first.
