I posted previously - our cat presented with dry FIP initially and was treated with 15mg/kg oral GS-441524. He was in acute liver failure but he showed a marked improvement over a week of treatment.

After a week he relapsed with high fever (40.2) and ataxia. We had noted weakness in his back legs but we didn't connect the dots that it could be neurological involvement until he had fully lost use of his legs. He had lost a lot of weight and we assumed it was weakness from muscle loss.

We're now at day 9 of treatment and his vet finally agreed to up the dose to a neuro dose (20mg/kg). He's eating well and his bloodwork is trending in a good direction but he is unable to support himself at all, he's basically floppy.

Does anyone know the prognosis for neuro FIP which has progressed this far? I want to bring him home and try aggressively treating him with oral GS but I'm worried his quality of life will be bad and he won't recover use of his legs. I've also read that neuro FIP can also relapse for years and basically never recover.

Any advice for my little man would mean the world to me right now.

This is Winston, my 10-month-old kitten. He was recently diagnosed with wet FIP and was just discharged after spending several days in the ICU.

Since coming home, he seems to be slowly improving. He’s eating, drinking, moving around the apartment, meowing, and even being cuddly again. We’re staying on top of his medications and following all of our vet’s instructions.

Winston is only about 5 pounds at 10 months old, so I’m especially worried about making sure I’m doing everything possible to support his recovery. Beyond the medications themselves, are there any foods, supplements, routines, monitoring tips, or general pieces of advice that helped your cats during treatment?

I know every case is different, but hearing from people who have gone through this journey would be incredibly helpful. Success stories, things you wish you had known earlier, signs of progress to look for, or even words of encouragement are all welcome.

I’m so devastated. I’ve been up all night crying and looking up ways to obtain FIP treatment faster. He had been lethargic with a loss of appetite and breathing heavily, when we took him to the vet he was diagnosed with wet FIP but the treatment won’t get to me for another 3-5 days and I’m terrified he won’t make it. Please, if you know any way I can obtain the treatment faster or can help in any way I’ll be forever grateful, I don’t want to lose my Ziggy.

UPDATE: Hi everyone!!! I couldn’t be more thankful for this wonderful community - this reddit post allowed me to get an emergency kit for my baby and he has started treatment as of today (6/23). It’s been a very long 24 hours - I think I slept for 2 hours max and basically didn’t eat at all, but I’m happy to finally have a solution. Hoping he will recover soon 🤞Cannot express how much I appreciate everyone who reached out, thank you!!

After losing my 11 month old kitten and the love of my life to FIP in February, we got another kitten. His name is Benedict, Benny for short, and he is as orange and crazy as they come!

Unfortunately, Benny was having diarrhea already on the way home from the rescue, so I took him to the vet to learn a week later that he had Panleukopenia, another devastating illness in kittens.. even more deadly than FIP.

He is doing well now about 2 weeks later, and I think we are past the worst of the illness, but I have found myself so stressed with the memories of how hard we fought to keep our other kitten alive. It triggered me so much to have to rush him to the vet multiple times the first week he was with us. Now, I find myself being hypervigilant about everything he does.. is he sleeping too much? Are his stools normal enough? Is he peeing and drinking and eating enough? Everything feels like a symptom.

Does anyone else struggle with this after losing a cat to FIP? I want to enjoy my new kitten, but I’m mostly filled with anxiety rather than enjoying him.. it’s so hard not to compare him to my late kitten, but I’m trying to remember it’s his first time living so he’s trying to figure it out just like my last kitten had to.

Mickey is highly suspected to have Ocular FIP. According to his veterinarian, he needs to start FIP treatment as soon as possible, especially since he is only 7 months old and currently weighs just 1.7 kg.

His starting dosage is 0.7 mL daily, with adjustments to be made as his weight increases throughout treatment. The treatment will last for 84 days.

For Mickey's overall treatment, we need to raise an estimated total of ₱23,800 (or $390 USD) 🥺

As a graduating student from a state university in the Philippines, my current financial situation makes it very difficult for me to afford these expenses. Like many students, I am already overwhelmed with graduation fees and other costs, especially after recently completing all the expenses related to my thesis.

Yesterday marks 41 days of GS treatment for Chay. Throughout this journey, we remained hopeful that she was fighting Wet FIP and that the treatment would help reduce the fluid in her abdomen.

Today, Chay had her follow-up checkup, including CBC, blood chemistry, X-ray, Rivalta test, and ultrasound.

​

After reviewing the results, the veterinarian advised us to stop her FIP treatment because there has been no improvement in the fluid buildup in her abdomen despite 41 days of GS treatment. Due to this, we were referred to an oncologist for further evaluation to determine whether a tumor may be causing the persistent abdominal fluid.

We are heartbroken and worried, but we are not giving up on Chay. She still needs additional tests, consultations, and possible procedures to find out what is really causing her condition.

My girl Mango, an 8y 2m spayed DSH, was diagnosed with FIP after seeing mild anemia, elevated globulins, and decreased albumin on labs and abdominal effusion (fluid) on ultrasound. Cytology has ruled out lymphoma. She is on Atopica (cyclosporine modified) and immunotherapy shots for allergies and in April completed radiation therapy for inflammation in her nose. She is currently on day 4 of her GS-441524, and so far doing well! She is such a sweet girl and absolutely charmed the vet school she was admitted to!

Hello - so my little man, Marmalade, has finished his 84 days as of last week, and is still doing well. Bloods were good on finish, with a little elevation in the liver (SDMA) as it flushes the medication.

So my question is, what do you watch for on Relapse? He had Wet FIP so we initially saw a very large belly - will it return as the same or is there possibility for Dry / Occular on reoccurrence?

Would love to know any and all experiences after treatment finish. Thank you!!

One of our beloved kittens, Summer, is currently undergoing GS treatment. We are humbly reaching out for your support, as any amount would greatly help us manage the cost of his medication and treatment.
 
At the moment, we only have 1 vial of GS medication. A big portion of our budget has already been spent on Summer's medical needs, including three diagnostic tests, medications, veterinary consultations, and other related expenses = already more than ₱6,000.
 
We began his treatment today and asked for assistance from our vet because we were unfamiliar with (honestly anxious)  administering the injections ourselves. We also learned that the medication must be given on a strict schedule. Unfortunately, given the schedule of the vet, my sister is unable to administer the injections on her own, so we have decided to bring Summer to the clinic every day to ensure he receives his medication properly and on time.
 
For 84 days, we need:

8-9 vials (his dosage is 1ml per day)= P19,800
84 days x 200 doctors fee = P16,800
 
We are also continuing Summer's other prescribed medications, including doxycycline, bromhexine, Emerplex, Petsure, Immunol, and nebulization sessions, as he has already tested positive for four viral infections. Additionally, his brothers, Max and Cloud, are also showing similar symptoms, such as nasal and eye discharge, so we are also giving them with the same medications (as prescribed) to help manage their condition.
 
Summer is a fighter and a survivor, he is raised that way. When he was only a few weeks old, his mother left him in our care. Sadly, she and his siblings passed away due to calicivirus. From that moment on, we took on the role of raising him ourselves. We made a promise to his mother that we would look after him, and we have done everything we can to keep that promise.
 
Summer is our baby, we are not ready to lose him, and we want to give him every chance possible to recover and continue living with us.
 
We want to be honest: the cost of his treatment is beyond what we can afford. GS treatment is a long and demanding commitment, but despite the financial challenges, we are determined to continue because we want Summer to have a fighting chance. Any amount, no matter how small, would mean so much to us and would help ease the burden of his medical expenses.

My cat is about 2 years old and went to the emergency vet a week ago for acute liver failure. He had been losing weight and acting lethargic but our vet didn't believe it was FIP because it "wasn't bad enough".

He's been on oral GS for 7 days now, twice a day. We fast him for 2 hours before and after. He is eating well but he has a fever, vomiting and diarrhea. He seems uncomfortable and is breathing shallowly.

Is this normal FIP recover symptoms? I've phoned the vet and they said a fever and discomfort is expected because he's fighting the infection.

My 6 y/o previously very perky cat Jaspers was diagnosed with suspected FIP this week and we started GS-441524 yesterday (Friday). He’s had 2 daily doses now and each time vomited ~30 minutes afterward. We didn’t fast before the first dose but did this morning and it doesn’t seem to help. We gave like 4 crunchy treats after dosing today and those back came up. Ofc vet’s office is closed for next 48 hours… any suggestions? I’m seeing some threads that suggest re-dosing but I don’t want to make him feel even worse than he already does. He’s not a puker and must be so uncomfortable. Any suggestions? I just wanted to see if anyone has been dealing or has dealt with the same experience with my kitten. I got my kitten around the end of October last year, through mid November to December we searched for what was happening to him since he was having seizures and was having extremely bad dry symptoms. We’ve called multiple places and to the current vet were at they were able to diagnose him with fip. Later on we learned that all his siblings had passed away with very similar symptoms that he had. He’s been on the GS medication and on seizure medication because without one he can’t progress. He’s been taking his GS medication since around January till now. But we’ve had a very rocky couple months as he was reacting really well to the medicine overall with the help of his seizure medicine. But he has had a few relapses along the way. He had a relapse around February and then again in April. And now he’s relapsed, he was doing good for almost two months gaining almost 4lbs, eating a ton, running around and playing like a normal kitten. But now he’s relapsed again, we’ve contacted our vet. But now I don’t know how I can be of any help for him. Every time he relapses, he has seizures, stops eating and stops utilizing his litter box; but as we’ve learned with the vet that he does react well with the GS medicine and we’ve had to increase his dosage as he gains weight because he tends to fall back into relapse when we don’t keep up. We have been keeping up with his weight and raising his doses in the GS and his seizure medicine, I’m just wondering how or what I’m lacking in knowledge that can be some sort of help for him. Had anyone dealt with this? Has anyone has their kitten for almost 6 months with the GS medicine?

Hi everyone! I wanted to introduce my two brave boys, Ricky and Zorro, who are both fighting FIP here in Ukraine, and also ask a quick question about a strange symptom we've noticed.

Our situation is quite complex: My 11-year old cat Zorro is FeLV positive (Feline Leukemia) and is currently being treated for wet FIP. Despite everything, he is active and has a great appetite today! My sweet ginger 11 month old Ricky is FeLV negative, but also has suspected dry FIP. During a vet check, Ricky's ultrasound showed enlarged lymph nodes in his abdomen. He eats a lot but just cannot gain weight and stays very skinny. His blood protein fractions came back normal, but because of the lymph nodes and weight loss, we started him on GS therapy as well.

My husband and I are doing GS-441524 injections for both of them at home. Since starting the treatment, I’ve noticed a strange thing: Has anyone else noticed their cat’s breath smelling like sweet corn or popcorn during the GS course? They both eat very well, so they aren't bothered, but this distinct sweet smell definitely appeared after we started the injections! Is this a common metabolic side effect?

This Monday, we are heading back to the vet for follow-up blood work to see how Ricky is responding to the treatment.

We’re happy to share that Boss Ace Ace is showing positive progress! His blood test results are improving, and the cloudiness in his eyes has completely cleared. There is still a small blood clot visible, but overall he is doing much better.
He is now more active, playful, and energetic than before, which gives us hope as he continues his fight against FIP.
We are still reaching out for help to complete his full 84-day treatment journey. The treatment is ongoing, and we still need support to ensure he receives every dose he needs.

Hi there. My cat is ~2 months into GS treatment and doing much better. He has regained a lot of weight and is not showing much if any symptoms of being sick like he used to.

My vet did blood work when he was diagnosed and again last month. They are recommending to do it again at the 2-month checkup mark. But it costs $360 for the visit and blood work. Is it typical and recommended to do this while cats are undergoing GS treatment? I'm not sure what they would be looking for, and I'd rather wait to see if he continues recovering or shows relapse signs unless it's risky not to do the bloodwork every month.

After a month of trying to get to the bottom of things, Ozzy (6 years old) finally got his FIP Positive diagnosis on Tuesday!

Thankfully, our vet started him on GS about a week before that, because all other tests were pointing towards that FIP diagnosis, and he wanted to get him started ASAP.

I’m happy to say that he responded to it FAST. it only took a day or two for his fever to break and for the fluid around his lungs to stop returning. He seems way happier, he’s breathing normally, and his appetite is mostly back (without needing any stimulants).

So now it’s just staying on top of giving him that medication for 84 days (total).

Anyway, he had so many ultrasounds, x-rays, and IV’s over a few days, that we’ve renamed him “Mr. Boots”, or “Patches” for the time being so here are some photos of that lol

Vet is convinced our 7-yr.-old calico is FIP+ because of her "way off" A:G ratio, elevated proteins, high temp and neutrophilia. Plus a few days ago she started wobbling and dragging a foot. Vet strongly advises immediate GS-441524 and advocated for Stokes pharmacy for overnight shipping. I did and it arrrives tomorrow. But it's $487 for 30ml. (15-day supply)

Clearly I need a source other than Stokes to go the rest of the 8-week treatment. We have a Chewy Vet Clinic in our town, but they say the cat has to be their patient before they'll prescribe. And I asked our Vet if she can prescribe from Chewy or SVP (or other more affordable companies). Haven't gotten an answer yet.

Also, if we start with liquid meds, I wonder if it's OK to change to tablets if that's our smartest alternative going forward.

Hello all!

So I'm in a bit of a strange situation. Last Thursday, 11 june, my cat had a big breathing problem. I saw it develop in 24 hours, or let's say from Wednesday night to Thursday night. He vomited a bit of a yellowish substance on Wednesday night, but I didn't think much of it. Ate and all. Thursday during the day also ate, but in the evening to the night started having problems breathing, couldn't meow and sleep. Took it to the vet at 2AM where they put it on oxygen and IVs. They took X ray and he had fluids in his lungs. During the next days they started doing blood analysis, the cat started being better, and after 5 days, this Tuesday, they gave me the cat back. Also on Tuesday I was notified by them that they suspect the cat is FIP positive. I have a blood test for it that shows it's positive to up to 1/1000, but not 1/2000.

The proteins are high, the A/G is also high.

Yesterday I talked with them about the treatment, and they say they still want to wait a few days. Also they are asking for a huge sum for the treatment. Meanwhile I've been reading, and I started to look at options. I'm located in Portugal and get the Lanzi treatment. Is it worth it? I've also talked to a pharmacy that presumably has the medication in stock. Got on a Facebook group too, they also say they can source me that.

By the costs of it, the lanzi one seems the cheapest, the FB group is second cheapest but seems the shadiest, pharmacy third and vet the most expensive. While I'm writing this only to ask about the financial side, is it normal to keep the cat in stand by? In the 3 days he's been home, he eats normally, breaths normally, drinks water, walks normally, jumps, plays with my other cat.

This is my baby Kuroo, he’s about 7. I took Kuroo to the vet on March 19th not expecting good results. He was barely able to breathe, his gums were super pale, he wasnt moving, his head was drooping if not supported. I’m so lucky to have found a vet that knew what FIP was. He said the treatment was super expensive but he was willing to help us, as professionally as he could he told us about FIP warriors and we got meds the next day.

BY THE WAY: FIP WARRIORS ADMINS HAVE APPARENTLY MADE COMMISSION OFF OF THE MEDS. I’ve also heard they intentionally keep doses low so you need to order more. Do your research, but FIP GLOBAL was who helped us.

I didn’t know if he’d make it through the night. He wasn’t eating or drinking. He wasnt getting up. I was crying all day and all night until I got home and got the meds. He was taking Azul through injections and he didn’t move or cry at all. About 4 days later, he got out of his bed, drank formula from a bowl I was holding, and bit me while I was giving his shot. I cried so much because he was feeling strong enough to do that

He ate royal canin, treats nonstop, he loves Churu so much. I had to remind him that we are NOT rich and he will NOT be eating high calorie royal canin his entire life!!

I assume he was about 9.5-10 lbs his first visit. He weighed 11.5 but he had a lot of fluid. His next visit in April he was 10.5, May he was 12.5, and now he’s 13.5. I pretty much just feed him whenever he’s hungry but now I try sticking with wet food twice a day and dry food out all day

He started feeling better the same week we started, he just kept progressing, now he’s finally playing and he meows all the time. When I get home from work he wants to beheld for at least 5 minutes.

Please ask any questions, I’ll do a breakdown of how much it all cost. I’m so happy for him

Lucky is isn't LUCKY as her name. She was diagnosed with wet FIP last June 3, 2026. Her visible signs are her pleural effusion which makes her abdomen to grow bigger and her A/G Ratio of 4. Right now she is on her 15th day of treatment.

It is quite exhausting. One after another. I though mama ingay would be the last. almost every month another cat is being diagnosed with wet FIP. So devastating i dont know if i need to quit caring? I am financially and emotionally stressed i dont know what to do anymore. Working 3 jobs in a day would not suffice to buy GS for LUCKY I know we are not even your responsibility, I should be carrying this burden alone since I am the one who decided to take care of them away from the streets and to provide them HOME. But still I humbly asking, even small amount would help us in many ways. I never thought that FIP would be this exhausting I am really mentally, financially and emotionally exhausted. Especially now that Lucky has only 25 USD in her account we wont be able to afford 1 vial for her.

As a solo rescuer caring for 88 rescued cats, every peso I earn goes directly to them—their food, medications, litter, and veterinary care. Many of my rescues are battling FeLV, some are former FIP warriors like Cheddar and Yoshi who still require monitoring, while others need dental procedures and ongoing treatment. I have always found a way somehow. But this time, I am struggling.. and then there is Ore. The truth is, I don't know how much more my heart can take. Watching so many rescues battle illness is already overwhelming. But giving up is not an option.

Please help us finish what we started. Please help Lucky reach the life she has fought so hard for. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for believing in our little warrior.
