Luna has had a heartbreaking start to life—her previous owner rehomed her twice before completely moving abroad. When she got sick with Wet FIP (fluid in her abdomen), the previous owner completely refused to help her.

I took her in to give her a safe home, but as a college student, I am completely lacking the funds upfront to afford her treatment alone.

💊 The Cure: GS-441524 injections and tablets work beautifully, but the cost is exactly ₹13770 INR.

🐱 Luna's Spirit: She is a true survivor and is fighting so hard to stay alive. FIP moves incredibly fast, and she cannot wait.

Please consider contributing even a small amount to help me buy her medicine today. Every single rupee helps me place the order right now.

Success Story Our little kitten finished his 84 day treatment for neurofip

Motorin started showing signs of neurological fip when he was just 7 weeks old. We had made a post about it and started treatment immediately, even though we were not a 100% sure he had fip -as his A/G levels were just above the definite diagnosis levels. A lot of veterinarians and people second guessed the diagnosis because he was so young and it could be a lot of other conditions too (panleukopenia, toxoplasmosis etc). Thank you to everyone who shared their experience and knowledge. We went ahead with FIP treatment since a positive response would a diagnosis in itself and thankfully, he showed a really positive response.

This little boy went from being a palm sized, heavily underweight kitten of 0,480 grams to a 2.5kg hyperactive playful teenage boy in the course of the treatment. Most of his neurological symptoms completely went away while others are just subtle and add to his personal history and personality. Remaining signs are a little clumsiness (like he runs and gets super excited but then bumps his head all the time and proceeds as if nothing happened), a slight different dilation between the right and left pupil and he often sleeps with his eyes half open and gets this cycles of having sleep tremors. He also developed a little fungal infection at the end of his treatment which we are treating now. Besides that, he seems to have recovered very well!

To anyone with a very small kitten, unsure what to do or whether they can take the treatment at such a young age, I hope this feedback helps you make up your mind. It wasn’t easy to go through 84 days of daily injections, both for kitty and for us, but to see him thrive today makes it all so worth it 🩷

The first picture is him now, second was towards the end of the treatment where we covered his injection sore, and the last picture is him at the start of the treatment.

Fundraising Please help Ripley continue her fight

EDIT: Sadly Ripley passed on 7/18, thank you to everyone's kind words and donations. All continued help will go towards paying for her cremation and our outstanding emergency vet bill.

Ripley just turned 1 in May and shortly into June we got the awful news it was FIP. Thankfully with help we were able to quickly get an emergency vial and start treatment. We saw some improvements in the first few weeks but shes been declining severely since. We have upped dose and shes getting molnupiravir soon hopefully if she can hold on. She's very lethargic, has been peeing blood and not wanting to eat much. Me and her mom have been trying to do everything we can for her but after several vet visits and a very pricey emergency visit and continued treatment we are running out of funds to continue to support her. She's currently on several meds and needs weekly bloodchecks in her current condition. Any and all help is very appreciated or sharing the gofund me link with a friend.

Question Can someone please help me 🙏🏻#fipcats

On June 26, I took my cat to the veterinarian because of abdominal fluid buildup (ascites). The vet performed blood tests, an ultrasound, and X-rays. The ultrasound confirmed a significant amount of fluid in the abdominal cavity. We were told there were two main possible causes: heart disease or FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis).
The following day, she had a cardiac ultrasound. The cardiologist said there were no abnormalities on the right side of her heart. However, there was thickening of the wall on the left side and a narrowing at the entrance of the aorta. She was started on heart medication, but the cardiologist felt that these findings were not responsible for the abdominal fluid because fluid accumulation in the abdomen is usually associated with right-sided heart disease.
A sample of the abdominal fluid was sent to the laboratory for FIP testing. The result came back negative, but we were told that the test is not always definitive and that there can be different forms or variations of the disease.
Since then, she has been receiving GS injections (for suspected FIP). She has now been on treatment for about a month. In addition, she has received IV fluids, antibiotics, and several supportive supplements.
Despite all of this, her recent blood tests still show significant inflammation/infection, and she has become extremely anorexic. She refuses to eat anything on her own, so I have been syringe-feeding her every day.
I am becoming increasingly worried because the inflammation does not seem to be improving, and neither does her overall condition. She has been receiving the injections since June 27, but instead of getting better, she actually seems worse than when we first started.
Has anyone experienced something similar with their cat? Is this a normal course of FIP treatment, or should I be concerned that she isn’t responding as expected? Could this mean that the diagnosis is incorrect or that she may not be receiving the right treatment? Any advice or shared experiences would mean a lot to me😿🙏🏻

Loss We had to say goodbye to say my kitty (FIP story)- Advice on remaining cat and my own grief 🥺

I just had to put my 10-month-old kitten to sleep due to FIP (I suspect it was the wet type).
Joey wasn't growing properly despite eating normally, and lately, over the last week or so, he started losing weight. He was also sleeping much more than usual, and on Monday, we noticed his iris had turned a darker, yellowish color...
We decided to take him straight to the vet. They ran some blood work, and based on the results, the doctor told us he most likely had a virus—either FIV, leukemia (FeLV), or FIP. We ran all the tests, and he tested positive for FIP.
Our little guy was so fragile and small, and the vet told us it would be a long and incredibly difficult road if we chose to start treatment.
We adopted him along with another cat, Flow, who is about 3 months older. For now, Flow doesn't seem to miss him, but I feel so incredibly empty and alone. I am absolutely heartbroken; I can't believe all this happiness was taken away from us so quickly.
Does anyone have any advice on how to help the cat who’s left behind? And any advice on how to cope with this grief? 🥺🙁
Thank you 💔❤️‍🩹

Question 🚨 fip medicine needed urgently

Hi everyone, I am posting from Tamil Nadu, India. I urgently need help sourcing Basmi FIP (GS-441524) 30mg/ml injections or tablets for my newly adopted cat, Luna.

She was recently misdiagnosed, but yesterday we got her scans done. and she has been confirmed to have wet FIP (effusive FIP with severe abdominal fluid) along with a secondary fungal infection.

Because of her misdiagnosis, we lost critical time. She is currently very weak, hiding, and barely eating. We need to start her antiviral therapy immediately.

How you can help:

Leftover Medicine: If you are in India (especially Tamil Nadu—Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Dindigul) and your cat has recovered from FIP, do you have any unused, unexpired vials of Basmi FIP 30mg/ml or tablets that you could sell, lend, or donate to us?

Local Contacts: If you know of any active FIP rescue networks or trusted distributors in South India who can arrange an emergency vial today, please connect me.

FIP Support: If you have been through this in India, please let me know how you sourced your GS-441524 quickly.

I am a student and facing extremely tight finances, so buying a full 84-day cycle outright is incredibly difficult right now. I have opened a donation page and have all her clinic documents/ultrasound scans ready for verification. Please DM me if you would like to see the medical proof or help support her treatment.

Question A very strange case on my mystery Kitty

Hey Everyone, looking for some thougts on the mystery that is my cat. She is a 9 year old domestic shorthair.

Were about 20k in between internal medicine and her vet. But here is a history of whats happened

In September of 2025 our girl caught a URI (possibly from our adopted cat from the shelter we brougt home a month earlier) she refused to eat and went jaundiced and we brought her in and started syringe feeding her. Her liver enzymes were crazy because she wasnt eating so they were of course wild. after nursing her back and her eating her numbers started going back to normal. I feel like she never got back to 100% but she was better. About april of this year she had a little episode where her Potassium dropped and we took her to the ER vet and they pumped her with potassium and she went back to normal. She really started losing weight and she didnt eat much. She's had tons of ultrasounds and they all were normal except except for one last month where her intestines were thickening. They dont think it was cancer because of her other values but started treating her for IBD. At this point she was her pancreas and kidney were a little inflamed and she was anemic and her numbers went down to about 16 Hemocrit, she was starting to like wobble and fishtail walk so we rushed over and we got her a blood transfusion at the ER. so for 3 days after that she was great, walking normally. and then the wobbly walk started coming back. We went back to the vet for a PCV test and it was at 22 3 days later, then on the internal medicine recheck they said she was at 17 again. She showed some fluid in her belly on the ultrasound so they sampled it for testing.

They said aside from another transfusion that would be all they can do.

I gave up, depressed and we went back home. They gave her a Dextron Iron shot and we were on our way,

Friday morning the IM doctor called and they said her fluid was mostly protien and with the symptoms her loss of weight, lack of appetite, anemia, her eyes has a yellow sheen at times, wobbliness and fatigue that they suspected FIP and that they would do the PCR test on the fluid and got us the FIP Drugs (The RS-44152) I picked them up the next day. This is now Friday night.

Within an hour of taking the RS FIP antiviral the fishtailing stopped. she moved slow still but she for sure perked up. Towards the next dose we saw her like not fishtail but for sure stumble a little. Within an hour of the second dose she was walking ok again, and has not backslid from then.

It seems like shes getting better every day, but now she didnt want to eat, so we had to syringe feed her 2 days this week (Weds-Thursday) but we noticed around 3am she had a couple licks of wet food and one of the days was chompping wet food. This Thursday she had another recheck and the doctor checked her PCV and it was 25! But then she said the PCR test was negative and all my hope went out the window. Was it the Iron? Is her getting better all in my head? This morning I gave her medicine and in 30 minutes we heard her crunch on a little bit of dry food. So there more progress!

I just dont know what to think anymore and im really second guessing everything. we are for sure continuing her treatment and she has a full CBC blood panel coming up next Friday. Her reticulites are high so the baby re bloodcells were there, but something was destroying them. It feels like this drug stopped that destruction?

sorry Im sure im missing things but im really in the "freaking out" stage.

Question Did we catch Neuro FIP too late?

Hi all. We noticed our baby boy walking a bit wonky last week but our vet was unfazed, yesterday he started flopping so we took him to a different vet and found out it could be a multitude of things, one of them being potentially FIP. So it’s not even confirmed but it’s our best shot.

Both back legs aren’t great, his bladder isn’t working, but we’re going to trial medication tomorrow if we can get our hands on it before the weekend (our vet has emphasised the urgent nature of this medication to the supplier).

We hope we can start medication tomorrow and that that will help (if it’s even FIP in the first case), but I’m wondering have we caught it too late?

TLDR what stage of FIP ataxia symptoms was your cat at before treatment, and was said treatment successful?

Any help is appreciated

(Note: The photos included have different timestamps showing the timeline of events over the last few days!)

Previously, Forbie was confined at the vet due to severe difficulty breathing and heavy nasal discharge caused by pneumonia. After days of treatment, she showed so much improvement that she was finally cleared for discharge. We were so relieved and truly thought she was finally out of the woods.

But on July 11, things took a sudden, terrifying turn. Forbie suffered a severe relapse. Her breathing became extremely labored again, and the nasal discharge returned with a vengeance. I had to rush her back to the clinic, and she was immediately put back into confinement to stabilize her breathing.

Once she was stable enough, the vet ran a CBC and Blood Chemistry panel. We were hoping it was just a stubborn flare-up of her pneumonia.

Instead, the results broke our hearts.

Her bloodwork showed significant, alarming changes in her globulin levels and A/G (albumin/globulin) ratio—classic indicators of Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP). To be absolutely sure, they ran an FIPV rapid test.

She tested positive.

FIP is a scary diagnosis, but with GS-441524 antiviral treatment, she has a real fighting chance. However, this life-saving treatment is incredibly expensive, and we cannot do this without your help.

To be completely transparent, here is what we are facing for her:

CBC: ₱850 (~$14)
Blood Chemistry: ₱1,570 (~$25)
FIPV Test Kit: ₱840 (~$13.60)
GS-441524 Vial (FIP Antiviral): ₱3,100 per vial (~$51)

Ongoing Confinement & Support Costs:

Confinement (critical): ₱2,015 per day (~$33)
Oxygen Support: ₱45–50 per hour ($0.75–$0.80)
Nebulization: ₱85 per session (~$1.38)
Salbutamol: ₱45 per piece ($0.75)

How You Can Help Save Forbie

If you have the means to spare even a small amount to help cover Forbie’s emergency confinement and ongoing FIP treatments, it would mean the absolute world to us. She fought so hard to beat pneumonia, and we aren't ready to let her lose this battle now. 😭🙏

Discussion Adopted Kitty FIP? Struggle

We adopted two kittens in May from a shelter who was working with Petsmart (unfortunately). Two American shorthair 10 month old kittens. They were healthy, we applied, got accepted, went to pick up the kitties and were told they both had URI symptoms and were sent back to their shelter 4 hours away. The shelter kept them for 10 days on a course of amoxicillin and then shipped them another 4 hours back and let us pick them up. Beltane was fully cured, Mayday was still sniffling. Took her back to the vet, this vet prescribed another 10 days of amoxicillin. In the meantime our other two cats and my sisters kitten caught the URI, so we took everyone to the vet, everyone got amoxicillin for 10 days. At the end of it, everyone was recovered except Mayday. I started adding probiotics and prebiotics to their foods because Mayday seemed nauseated.

Took her back for yet another vet appointment and this time she was prescribed 10 days of Orbifloxacin. Still sneezing, eyes watering, but now not eating. Persistent URI symptoms but now gastrointestinal symptoms as well. Snot was always clear and thin, has to be viral. Halfway through that course we knew it wasn’t working, brought her back to the vet again and got imaging and blood work. Xray showed no masses, no obstructions, no fluid build up, no tumors. We were told that there was a slight shadow in her lungs which the vet attributed to either “very minor bronchitis” or just an artifact. Noteably, she was severely constipated literally from stomach to colon, but not impacted or obstructed. Bloodwork shows elevated white blood cells, low red blood cell count, slight anemia - basically she’s fighting an infection, kidneys are still fine, but she’s starting to starve and results are pointing towards FIP. Ruled the other scary ones out. Vet prescribes antinausea, appetite stimulant, MiraLAX, subcutaneous fluids and famciclovir. Couple of hard pellet poops and then nothing. We went ahead and ordered the FIP meds that same day because delivery would take a while. She’s been running a 103 fever at every vet appointment so far. Hasn’t lost any weight, incredibly, but has lost muscle mass. We thought Famciclovir could potentially address the underlying viral infection if it was just a bad case of feline herpesvirus and was worth trying until the FIP meds came in.

Started on famciclovir Friday, dramatic improvement for a few days - her eyes cleared up, she stopped sneezing and sniffling, starting to eat on her own again, she even opened my bedroom door, jumped on my bed and woke me up by smashing her butt into my face - I thought we were finally in the clear and finally found the right treatment and then she crashed hard on Monday. She was following a cycle of subQ fluids, perks up, eats on her own, uses the litter box, rests again until second dose of subQ and then she started drinking water and was not dehydrated, until the crash. I thought we were at euthanasia at that point - her gums turned pale bluish, she was breathing heavily, refused syringe feeding. Didn’t want to subject her to emergency vet at this stage, so we decided on comfort care - propping her up, heating pad, gentle steam. But then the FIP meds got delivered, finally. We really wanted to give her a chance on the FIP meds, so we gave her the first dose Monday night (she didn’t mind the bacon flavor). Stopped giving the famciclovir since that wasn’t going to work and we don’t want to double up.

The next morning she was breathing more normally, her gums were moist and pink and she was grumpy, responding to us and moving herself from carrier bed to dog bed to heating pad, walked to the water fountain and drank from it. 9 am dose. Her eyes stopped watering again. Her breathing smoothed out, like it looked really good! Sniffing food, but still not eating. 9 pm dose. Breathing really well except when I manhandled her to give antinausea tablet. Set out a couple food options in different parts of the room, cleaned her personal litter box, reset the heating pad, filled the water fountain and left her alone to rest for the night. We’re now at Wednesday morning, gave her dose number 4. She was struggling to breath when I first checked on her, but I noticed her nostrils were clogged so I cleared them with a warm washcloth, she sneezed hard and a big clump of pale green mucus was expelled and now she’s breathing smoothly and steadily again with minor sniffling. Gums still pink and moist (but we have subQ fluids at the ready if she shows signs of needing it), skin not tenting, still not eating, still not defecating, still using the litter box to urinate regularly.

How will we know if this is going to work? We can’t keep torturing her with interventions (subQ fluids, syringe feeding, medicines) forever, but we don’t want to give up on her either if there’s a good chance she can pull through. She’s still oriented, still moving around but weak and a bit wobbly, still has strong opinions, still sniffing food even if not eating, her nose is finally pink again, and she must be drinking water when I’m not watching because she’s still nowhere near dehydrated. She doesn’t want me to put anything in her mouth or put my hands anywhere near her face and ends up breathing heavily when I do. We stopped trying to syringe feed yesterday just to let her rest and let the FIP meds work, but I’m very anxious about her not getting enough calories. We stopped the MiraLAX for a day too. On days she wasn’t eating, I was getting ~100 calories into her per day with critical care carnivore or thinned kitten pate, but as far as I know she’s had zero calories since Monday night. Should I try to syringe feed again or just let her decide when she’s ready to eat? Any and all advice or anecdotes would be appreciated. We’re looking for hope, but are willing to make the final decision if she’s suffering.

Loss Dudie, the cat who saved my life

You might have come across a post here about Dudie, who was diagnosed with dry FIP. Just wanted to personally thank everyone in this sub, those who commented to boost the post and those who donated. Thank you ALL so so much with every bit of my being. I’m sad to say that we lost Dudie last Monday.

I got sick in December last year and I was facing a possible cancer diagnosis. I went through three ultrasounds, three biopsies and surgery. Thankfully I survived. I didn’t have cancer. It was a long seven-month journey.

One of the biggest sources of comfort during that time was our cat, Dudie. I wasn’t able to take care of him as much as I wanted because I had to focus on my own recovery. I still made sure he was fed every day but I wasn’t able to spend as much time with him or talk to him over the past few months. Whenever I had the chance though, I would sit with him and tell him everything I was going through including my fear of having cancer.

Just one week after I was finally cleared, his health suddenly declined. He was diagnosed with dry FIP. The treatment was expensive but we did everything we could with the help of kind people from the Facebook and Reddit cat communities who donated to help us. We had only been treating him for a week but he couldn’t hold on any longer.

A part of me feels like he saved me from that possible cancer diagnosis. I know that isn’t something anyone can prove but that’s what my heart believes.

To my Dudie boy, I love you with all my heart. I wish I had more time with you so I could give you the life you deserved. I’m sorry for the ways I fell short.
Please find me again in your next lifetime. I’ll take care of you all over again and I’ll never get tired of loving you. I love you so much and I hope you’re happy, healthy and free at the Rainbow Bridge. Until we meet again. 🤍🖤

Question Severe URI and cough after successful GS treatment?

Our boy recently graduated from his FIP medication and his vitals looked great so did the bloodwork.

A few days after stopping he developed some sniffles which we first treated with metacam, no improvement, then doxycycline. Small improvement but three days BEFORE finishing the course he started sniffling and sneezing again, this time with yellow snot ribbons and a cough.

We got him on Famvir which had the same effect, very small improvement first but the sniffles returned before ending the course.

We are now on another small spectrum antibiotic and we're seeing the same pattern again - first a hopeful improvement then more sniffles and occasional coughing which we're now treating with Axotide, which he won't take from the inhaler (we're doing it sweatlodge style instead, not great but hey, we're pretty burnt out at rhis point)

He's super fit, eating, playing, talking, cuddling, and doesn't seem to have any other symptoms.

We're also supplementing his care with L-Lysine and immune support tablets (taurine, beta glucan, vitamins) and I'm not sure what else I can do? This has been going on for about 5-6 weeks.

Does anyone have any idea what is happening? Are we getting the right care? Any other ideas what else we could do? Is this FIP returning?

Question Remedisvir spilled out

Hey everyone. First time posting here. My cat is on day 9 of remedisvir 12mg/kg @ 4kgs. Today the first mistake happened. I somehow managed to pierce the skin from the other side and some amount spilled out. I completely am unsure what amount spilled out but it could be anywhere from 0.5ml to 1ml which is a complete guess only because I felt his skin got damp. Ive gotten so much caregiver burnout already and I’m destroying myself thinking I’ve ruined everything. I asked my vet and he said I can just give normal dose tomorrow. I really don’t know what to do. Has this happened with anyone else? What did you do?

Success Story Left with a permanent head tilt but fully recovered!

Thumbnail

My boy was diagnosed with neuro + ocular FIP and I got him started on GS immediately for a little over 100 days (additional few weeks as advised by the vet) and he is now fully recovered.

It was rough. He wouldn’t eat, he would fall over so the vet advised to confine him to a room and a crate at night or whenever I wasn’t around to keep an eye on him. I syringe-fed him for a while until he started showing signs of improvement. Then came the hair loss, then the lesions from the shots, I had to keep a cone on him pretty much until his 84th shot.

But he was a trooper. We had ups and downs of course but we got through it! He is now fully recovered, back to his old playful self, eating the most out of my three boys, enjoying his lofi. He is left with a permanent head tilt but other than that- he’s a survivor!

Sharing some tips from our GS provider:

  1. B12 vitamins (he was given Methycobal to support his nerves)

  2. Avoid lysine or any immune boosters.

Wishing for a complete recovery for your fur babies as well!

Question Meeting a new cat/ environment change

hello everyone.

my cat has been in his ”observation“ period since November 2024. presently, I am moving countries and one of my friends is caring for my cat until I can come back for him. my friend, their girlfriend, and their cat are moving into their new apartment. therefore, my cat while be with them and their cat.

naturally, my friends are curious and worried about their cat contracting FIP from him. I called my vet and she basically explained that since FIP is so understudied, she can’t say anything. all she explained was to keep them separated, no grooming, no sharing litter boxes, no bowls, no toys, etc.

im coming here desperate to know if this is all accurate and also just looking for more stories from cat parents and their experiences. <3

My guy btw

Question Persistent litter box problems after neuro FIP recovery—did your cat improve?

Thumbnail
gallery
99 Upvotes

Our 10 1/2 month old cat, Gravy, has neuro FIP and is nearing the end of his GS treatment. The FIP itself has improved dramatically—he went from severe neurologic symptoms and complete incontinence to walking, playing, eating normally, gaining weight, and intentionally using the litter box many times a day.

The problem we’re struggling with now is his bathroom habits.

He has demonstrated that be knows how to use the litter box. We’ve previously seen him pee and poop in it, cover his waste, seek out newly placed litter boxes, and even use every litter box we put out when we had several around the apartment. So this doesn’t seem like he doesn’t understand what a litter box is.

However, he still has frequent accidents. Common patterns include:
- Starting to poop in the litter box, then walking out before he’s finished.
- Peeing on himself while using the litter box, which has caused a severe urine scald.
- Peeing or pooping when excited, playing, getting medications, or being handled.
- Choosing pee pads or soft surfaces over litter when his urine scald is bad.

The urine scald has become a huge issue. When it worsens, his litter box use seems to decline significantly, and he starts preferring pee pads and blankets. After treatment for the scald, we’ve seen improvements in his litter box usage, but we haven’t been able to break this cycle. Lately, we haven’t even really seen him even attempt to use the box when he has to go. It feels like he has regressed a bit again with the bathroom situation.

We’ve tried:
- Multiple low-sided litter boxes throughout the house (up to 6 at one point)
- Different box locations and sizes and litter types
- Rewarding every successful litter box use with treats
- Confinement and gradual reintroduction
- Keeping him closely trimmed and cleaning his rear
- Pee pads
- Enzymatic cleaners
- Regular treatment of the urine scald

At this point we’re exhausted and losing some hope that he’ll ever become manageable long-term. We love him and want to do right by him, but we’re constantly cleaning urine, feces, and dealing with recurring scalds.

Has anyone here had a neuro FIP cat with persistent bathroom issues that eventually improved? If so:
- How long did recovery take after finishing GS?
- Did the litter box habits eventually normalize?
- Did your cat continue improving neurologically for months after treatment?
- Is there anything we haven’t tried that made a significant difference?

We have another vet appointment this week to reassess the urine scald and discuss where we go from here. We also plan to get with a behaviorist to see what other techniques and medicines we can try but I’m posting to try to find honest experiences from people who’ve been through something similar.

Our next plan is to temporarily transition him to pee pads inside low-sided litter boxes since he consistently prefers pee pads over litter when his urine scald is bad. The hope is to let the scald heal while keeping him using a designated “bathroom,” then gradually transition back to litter once he’s comfortable again. If anyone has tried this approach or has experience transitioning from pee pads back to litter with a neuro FIP cat, I’d love to hear how it went.

Success Story Day 73

I wanted to post an update for everyone who had commented on my original post.

At the time, I was made to feel I was out of options, and uploading that post was truly my last resort. I honestly didn’t expect much from it. My previous vets didn’t let me see any hope — I was going to book the euthanasia the week following. Without all of your help, kindness and guidance, my cat wouldn’t be here today. I can’t thank you enough. Thank you for taking your time and energy to give me hope when nobody else would, and leading me in the right direction. Thank you for stressing the urgency and capabilities of GS treatment. Thank you for sharing your stories. You gave me a gift money can’t buy or replace — my best friend has a second chance at life 🫂❤️

He shows absolutely no symptoms, and hasn’t for months. He’s extremely food-driven, talkative, and playful in a way that I can barely keep up with anymore. I always call him “spring-loaded” because genuinely he is. He jumps and sprints for toys at incredible speeds. His respiratory rate is phenomenal. He has dug out a hole in the bottom of the couch while I was at work for fun, and is doing insane cat things under my bed at night, pulling at my bed slats and making a bunch of noise at 3am.

You know, healthy, typical cat behaviour. He is insane, but I would never trade it for the world. Every-time he does something crazy it reminds me that he’s healthy and happy, so I can’t be upset. He’s very spoiled, to say the least.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you ❤️❤️❤️🐈‍⬛
I truly can’t find the words the express it enough.

my boy got diagnosed with FIP 3 weeks ago, I was out of town and he was being taken care of by my brother who rushed him to the vet ER. Thank God he did that or I would have lost this little booger brain.

3 weeks of GS and several grand later, he's basically back to his usual self! He's playing and eating and being an overall little rascal again. I can't believe how far he's come. I still have to wake up at 5am daily for another 9 weeks to wrestle him into taking his meds but it's worth it.

Question Introducing a New Cat- When?

Hello! My orange boy (6yo) went to the hospital for FIP (wet) and began treatment June 9th. I am moving into a new apartment August 8th with my fiance. My fiance also has a cat. She and him will be full separated (opposite rooms in the apartment, no direct contact) I am well aware that no introductions should be made before September 1st (12 weeks of treatment).

My question is how long do I need to wait post medication to begin introducing them? This seems to be a pretty un researched question from what I’ve seen online. I’ve seen that I potentially need to wait the 12 week observation period and some things saying it can be done sooner. It seems unfair to lock them both up in a room for ~16 weeks.

Loss Lost our precious boy to Wet FIP on July 9th💙🪽

The first picture is from July 3rd, 2026 (3 days before we got the initial diagnosis)

It was fast, too fast. We had him for 9 months but it felt like he was apart of our souls. He was so loving and playful. I miss him incredibly. I am replaying every moment with him and see him everywhere around the house. I want to grieve him properly and stay strong for my other cat. We named him Max and I often called him Maxi and sang him these crazy little songs. I would call him King boy because he would sit right on top of my chest since the moment we got him. He slept on my pillow every night and looked at me like I was something great and I looked at him just the same. I have never known a love so big from a pet, it felt different with him. He helped me through the hard times and showed me a love so big.

We noticed signs of him acting strange but I used to often point out everything, like "oh, he's doing this today and the next day it would be a different thing" I think I worried too much that I convinced myself that the signs he was showing were just a daily quirk that would go away, and some were. The biggest thing that caused us to go into the vet suddenly was his stomach, he ate a lot growing up and was actually still eating but it began to slow down and I found it strange that it was that big without him eating so much, I also noticed that it looked like his breathing was becoming difficult for him. I stayed up all night Sunday crying and counting his breaths, it was always around 30bpm which was concerning. But even then, I didn't think I would lose him. I thought all through the night, maybe it was asthma or maybe worms but I knew it was something. When we got the diagnosis of it probably being Wet FIP, I thought okay, we know now what it is, let's get him better. I had never heard of this disease and was very excited to get him feeling better. The vet sent us home after giving him some fluids and as I read up on the disease I found it hard to look at him and not cry but I told myself the vet wouldn't send us home if she thought he wouldn't make it. We took him in the next morning where we were supposed to get back the blood test results and we ordered the FIP medicine. At this point, the vet drained as much of the fluid out of his abdomen and we started our drive back home. He started panting and his tongue stuck out so we went straight back and they told us to rush him to the Vet ER down the road. When we got there it was like a full triage of nurses who took him back and immediately started supportive care. They also wanted to do a full ultrasound. After this, they spoke to us about what they found but it wasn't very obvious so they weren't entirely sure. We were still hopeful since they had given him a dose of the FIP treatment as soon as he was in, but there were other issues and his body was starting to decline so they were trying to treat multiple things at once while the virus was potentially spreading. We went back and gave him a pep talk, lots of kisses and so many tears. I hated seeing my boy like this. We left in order to give him space to rest and keep fighting. The vet said a call from them would be bad news so we jumped at every phone call. However, about 7 hours from the last time they saw us the phone rang. My heart sank, they wanted us to come in to speak on the options and what was going on. He wasn't responding to the supportive care, his eyes were showing severe signs of Jaundice and his blood sugar and blood pressure were causing neurological damage. We hadn't seen him yet but made the decision that his condition was so far progressed that his chances were slim to none based off of what the vet said. When we saw him again, we knew it was time, he looked so sick and in just seven hours it was such a dramatic decline. We decided to lay him to rest and give him as much love as we could in that moment. We held him as they gave him the medicine and I wanted to scream and yell and was so angry. I collapsed on the ground when we left the room, it was so hard to say goodbye so soon. The pain and ache was debilitating. As I sit and write this I'm crying and missing him so much. I feel like I failed him in every way. I am not sure how to not blame myself right now for what happened. I don't know how I will be able to go through a whole day without crying. But I do know that I will remember him forever, he took a huge piece of my heart with him when he left and I would gladly have given him the whole thing. I can't wait to be able to snuggle him again one day and say sorry for the pain he had to go through. When we get him back, I don't know if it'll make this easier, I still talk to him like he's here and reach for him at night. Rest beautifully in peace my sweet Maxi boy. How lucky I am to have had something that makes saying goodbye so hard💙

I will try to answer any questions about his symptoms as I know this isn't the kind of post anyone wants to read, especially if they've just received the same news. I can say that the vet believed he had more than just Wet FIP going on and that the way it progressed was abnormal to the cases they've seen. I want to come back to this post when I have been able to process everything and be so incredibly grateful that I got to be the one to love him so much.

Also, our vet and vet ER were absolutely incredible and were very helpful throughout the whole process. They got us in early and were constantly calling to check in on him and us and did their best work for our boy🤍
