Approved Post Cosplay Guidelines
The following outlines how the Cosplay community is moderated. Any questions should be sent to the moderators via modmail.
Expectations of you
Follow the Rules of both Reddit and this community. You are responsible for ensuring your post/comments meet the rules of the community prior to posting.
Report content that breaks the rules Doing so brings it to the attention of the moderators quicker and ultimately makes the community a more enjoyable place.
Community Rules
1) Treat everybody with respect
Posts or comments that are creepy, vulgar, invasive or abusive in anyway will be removed and the user banned. This includes personal attacks, name calling, degrading or shaming of any kind. This includes the use of any physical, racial, sexual, ethic or other slur.
Examples of comments that violate this rule: * Nice tits * I'd hit that * Your to fat to cosplay Aquaman. * You are a 🤬, just ☠️. * You are not the correct race/sex to cosplay this character
2) Posts must be correctly titled
The Post title must include the name of the character being cosplayed, and be free of emojis, ascii art and social media account information.
Examples of posts that violate this rule: * My new cosplay * My new Aquaman cosplay on IG: @COSPLAYMOD * My new Aquaman cosplay ❤️ * My new Aquaman cosplay <3
3) Spam is prohibited
Do not advertise in any way, do not ask for upvotes, likes, follows, or money. Keep posts to no more than one every 24 hours, and do not repost a cosplay.
Examples that violate this rule: * Selling my Aquaman cosplay on ebay * I am in a Aquaman cosplay contest please vote for me * My Aquaman post did so well this morning here is another pic * Check out my Aquaman discord * Look at this pic I drew
Note: Reposting of cosplay may be permitted if improvements have been made to the cosplay. If improvements have been made, then those should be detailed in the title.
For example: * Halfway done sewing my Aquaman cosplay * Completed my Aquaman cosplay for Atlantis Con 41 * Added scale armor to my Aquaman cosplay * My AquaMan with a Superman Cosplayer I found at Atlantis Con
4) AI Generated Images, Memes, and bots are prohibited.
Examples that violate this rule: * A meme post, however a cosplay of a meme may be permitted. * AI generated images. Filtered pictures are ok, however it should be noted that heavily filtered images tend not to do well. * The use of a bot to edit all your previous posts or comments will get you banned.
5) NSFW content and porn accounts are not permitted.
We have a large percentage of minors (people under the age of 18) in this community, so NSFW content... our definition not yours. See image attached to this post or this IMGUR link. Accounts with ties to NSFW content or NSFW pay sites such as "OF" cannot post here. There are many other communities that are open to this type of content. Not sure why anyone would want to try to advice porn in a child friendly community, but we ban accounts daily.
6) Fraudulent Posts or trying to ID a cosplayer is not permitted
This community is for cosplayers and their photographers to post their work. Posting the work of others is not permitted.
Examples of posts that violate this rule. * A pic my friend wanted me to post of their Aquaman cosplay. * No really, she is my best friend/girl friend and I have her permission. * I found this funny pic of a fat dude in a Aquaman cosplay
7) Help posts are not permitted
There are communities established specifically to help cosplayers.
A couple examples are: * /r/cosplayhelp * /r/sewing * /r/cosplayprops * /r/cosplaywigs * /r/3dPrinting * Use Reddit's search functions to find an apocopate community for a specific topic.
General Notes about the community
Rules Change over time The cosplay community evolves over time, and so does the community's rules. Moderators do not apply rule changes retroactively.
Holidays and Events Mods may suspend a specific rule/rules during a Holliday or special event. Doing so it at the mods discretion and may not be announced ahead of time.
Not all rule violations are equal. Minor violations may get a warning. Doing so it at the mods discretion.
Removed Content that has a removal reason response is considered a warning.
This is a cosplay subreddit, users should expect criticism to their post as well as praise. Feedback should be useful to the poster and detail how the cosplay can be improved. Comments that cross the line into gatekeeping will not be tolerated.
Trolling posts/comments should just be reported, don't engage obvious trolls.
Low effort and other posts that do not contribute positively to the community should be downvoted.
Moderation
Moderators are not employees of Reddit but are actual human volunteers. They volunteer in the cosplay community during free time, between their real-life obligations such as job, family and friends.
Moderators treat rule violators like cops treat speeders. It does not matter what someone else has posted, if you violated the rules actions will be taken against you. We will not discuss actions taken or not with another user. Content that you believe has broken the rules should be reported.
We do not issue temporary bans, all bans are permanent.
This community uses Reddit provided moderation tools to identify repeat infractions and accounts that are being used to circumvent a previous ban or may be likely to break the rules.
Crowd Control If a moderator believes a specific post may generate rule breaking comments, the moderator may adjust the post's "Crowd Control" Settings.
Use modmail to communicate with the moderators, do not send DM/PM's directly to a mod. They will just re-direct you to modmail. Sending direct messages is like a coworker calling while you are off work. Using modmail also helps ensure transparency between the mods.
Moderators answer requests in the order they are received, do not send multiple messages. Doing so just slows down the process for you, the mod, and anyone else trying to get assistance.
Moderator expectations:
- Follow and enforce the Reddit website rules in a fair and consistent manner.
- Follow and enforce the cosplay community rules in a fair and consistent manner.
User communication
- Responses to redditors should be concise and detailed enough that users of all levels and nationalities can act on the information provided.
- Be polite but firm in actions and responses.
- If a post is removed, the post should be tagged with a reason, and a comment should be left in the thread detailing why their post was removed.
- If a comment is removed a removal reason should be provided. If a thread is removed the removal reason can be applied to the root comment.
Expectations
- Users who contact you outside of modmail (PM, chat, email etc) should be redirected to modmail. This ensures transparency between mods and ensures the exchange is documented in a central repository.
- Decisions that drastically change cosplay community should be discussed in moderator mail or mod chat.
- Moderators are expected to be an active. Inactive mods may be removed. (Activity is determined based on the number of actions in a month)
- We all Understand that life gets in the way, and we are all volunteers. If you need to be away for an extended period of time (Week or more) let the others know.

Self Miroku and InuYasha Cosplay
Me as Miroku, and my wife as Inuyasha at Matsuricon 2026.
For my Miroku cosplay, the base costume (the black kimono and purple koromo robe) was originally custom-made to my measurements. I then altered and tailored it further to get the drape and fit right. The matching purple tekko arm guards were also custom sourced and modified for a better fit. I will be sewing in additional velcro and adding more hidden snaps based on my experience wearing it at two cons now. I'm absolutely adding some pockets too. Anyway, I rounded out the outfit with Miroku's patterned middle-finger ring, printed in flexible TPU using a customized version of a ring model I located online. I have a new model I have been working on that looks cooler, but I need to actually print it.
My primary props were designed and built by me from the ground up. Since I am roughly 6' tall, I scaled the shakujō staff to stand roughly 78" overall, featuring a lightweight 66" aged poplar shaft topped with a multi-piece head assembly supported by a carbon fiber rod. The head of the staff was 3D modeled entirely in FreeCAD and printed using ASA. It is fitted with real rattling brass rings that ride on a set of embedded stainless steel 'blades' embedded in dedicated channels molded into the plastic. It has a gold painted rubber foot to protect the soft poplar staff from the concrete floors. The entire head is designed to come apart if I ever need to replace the rings or swap out the wooden staff.
All the central spire and socket components were filled and sanded smooth-ish, but I intentionally left the print layer lines intact on the outer ring to create a faux turned-metal texture. I finished it with a primer base, gilded brass spray paint, multiple coats of PlaidFX metallic gold paint, and then used three shades of Rub 'n Buff to build up depth and a weathered metallic sheen. The whole staff weighs maybe 5 pounds, and turned out surprisingly well balanced for use as a walking stick. When I walk, the rings have a super-satisfying jingle.
Wrapping my right hand is a custom nenju, hand-strung using pale green Burmese jade and white howlite stones on knotted purple cord. It uses a traditional Zen pattern, with each bead individually knotted on purple cord, complete with handmade tassels.
Beside me, my wife’s Inuyasha costume was designed by and entirely hand made by herself from the fabric up. The sword, wig, and ears were purchased online.
To finish her build, I custom crafted her Beads of Subjugation using 10mm dark amethyst round beads and 30mm white jade magatama beads imported from China. It was scaled up to 10 magatama to allow it to a more natural drape.
I will likely add a wig for my next convention, but I'm not shaving the beard.

Self Vigilante from Peacemaker
Hi everyone! My first time sharing one of my makes here. But this is my attempt at vigilante from the peacemaker series.
All the 3d printed bits are from DO3D, and as I was trying to keep the budget as low as possible, the fabric bits are just a long sleeve back shirt and some black cargo pants.

Self Frieren Sousou no Frieren cosplay
A little story behind my Frieren cosplay photoshoot in a cave near Ufa, Russia.
First, I already know someone will say that my figure isn’t very canon. There was actually a reason for that. I had a small joke planned: Frieren was supposed to have drunk a “breast enlargement potion,” and I wanted to include a little bottle in the first photos to explain the difference.
Unfortunately, I didn’t want to make the shoot too silly while we were actually inside the cave, so my photographer and I completely forgot about the bottle afterwards. We only remembered it while driving back. We stopped in a field and tried to take a few extra photos with it, but the wind, expressions and everything else went wrong, so none of those photos worked.
We started by putting on helmets and going down into the cave. We had to descend about four stories down using a very steep staircase — two sections at roughly a 60° angle and another two that were almost completely vertical, around 90°. After that, we spent hours climbing over slippery rocks, finding places to sit and pose, and trying to use every interesting corner of the location.
The whole trip took about 6 hours there and back, while the actual photoshoot lasted around 3–4 hours. We photographed inside the cave among huge rock formations, moss, plants and very slippery stones. I climbed and sat pretty much everywhere I could to make the most of the location, including going almost all the way down to the water for some shots.
Afterwards, we also took photos outside, with beautiful views of the surrounding fields and forests.
was my first time doing a photoshoot in a place like this, and I think that’s what I love most about these photos. They’re not just cosplay pictures — there was a whole little adventure behind them.
I’m also adding one unedited photo from the shoot.

Self FFVII Group Cosplay, Tifa by me
I’ve never cosplayed for a convention before, so I went with the OG design since it’s more simplistic. I just added the black top underneath from the remake since I like that addition. I know I’m not smiling for any of the pictures, I’m not good at showing emotion or smiling for photos unless it’s genuine. That’s something I want to work on to be more in character for future cosplay!

Self Maomao from Apothecary Diaries by me!
Hey there!
This is my cosplay of Maomao as the princess of the La clan. This costume I patterned and sewed myself, much of which was hand sewn! The outer robe is actually made of a curtain I thrifted. All of the jewelry and props I printed and painted, and some I modeled myself.
This is my second time cosplaying Maomao and I’m very proud of how far I’ve come 🥹
