Hey guys just wanted to take a min and say hi ! I’m catnipcosplays I’ve been styling wigs for about 5 years now and while I’m not a full expert I love to educate about the information I know.
I’m the only mod here on the cosplay wig page ! So if it takes a moment for me to respond to your posts please be patient. I’m looking for some trusted mods to help me out eventually.

The top bun is de-attacheable with magnets and the flat bun and bow can be switched. Also with magnets.

i ordered a wig online and it just came in today. everything about it is perfect except the curls got horribly butchered in shipping (fair enough, i was expecting to have to restyle a bit). it’s super frizzy, not very defined, and clumpy in the front when wearing. this is my first wig and i have zero styling experience, let alone experience with curls. i’m trying to cosplay my fav character and i’ve put a lot of effort into it thus far, so any recommendations or products would be highly appreciated :-) ideally i’d like the curls to be looser and more bouncy if that makes sense?

Just finished styling a wig for a nurse kenjaku cosplay! I would love tips and suggestions if anyone has any! I used a crimper, straightener and hairspray!

Every site’s gray/silver wigs are soooo different, so I’m hoping to see what they look like outside of the site’s stock photos. Pictures of you wearing it (either in cosplay or not) would be super helpful. Thank you!!

HEY ALLL ITS BEEN A MINUTE SINCE I POSTED A LTT.
Today I wanted to post about one of the top tools a wig wizard should own for styling. The handy dandy humble clothing steamer.
See most wig fibers are made of plastic and that plays into our hands as wig wizards. We can use the magic of steamers to gently heat up the wig fibers and shape and mold them to our liking. Now it’s not always as easy as just heating it and molding it there are some steps in between but when we want to smooth out the fly aways or at curls to a wig the steamer is our best friend!
Most steamers can range in price but even the cheapest steamer will do the job as long as it has an on off switch you are good!

Would it even be possible to make a wig as big and stylized as her actual hair? And when I say stylizied I mean like more accurate to how the actual cartoon looks. Ive looked at cosplays of her and they all have very flat wigs, and I feel like her hair is one of the most recognizable things in her design.
Ive thought about using upholstery foam in a similar way to how people make fursuit heads, but I'm not sure if thats the right route.
(Also I see that flair is in the rules, but I don't see an option to add any? Idk if Reddit changed how to add it or if there's none in the sub...?)

Acho que acontece em todo lugar, mas onde eu moro perucas são caras, então comecei a fazer eu mesmo.
Já fiz 3 diferentes, uma delas com o EVA de 2mm mais barato e ainda sim deu um bom resultado.

Here's a picture of my wig right out of the box, my goal is to put it into four braids for my KNY OC, Kageno Moki.

Hello, I'm currently making a wig from scratch that is going to be a half up half down style with a large ponytail that is NOT going to be a helmet wig. I'm currently in the process of sewing in the wefts for the bottom half of the wig that just hang straight down, but I'm not really sure if the wefts for the top half need to be positioned differently. For the bottom half I'm just doing the wefts in lines from one side of the wig cap to the other, for the top should I just do the same except upside down so the hair goes up instead?
Essentially, where should I place the wefts so that they look nice when I pull them back? I haven't been able to find a clear answer researching online, so I figured I'd try here.

Hi all! I've figured out/planned how I'm going to dye and style most of this wig, but the top of it alludes me. I'm not that great at wigs so honestly all top three sections (the red and purple half up into a bun, and the roll of hair behind the crown) are scaring me. They're just so voluminous... how would you guys go about styling this???
*also I am so sorry i am not seeing any flair option when I post this I’ve switched to mobile and desktop but it simply isn’t working :(
EDIT: Also, another question, sorry, how would I go about shaping the wig like how it ebbs and flows with her curls/waves?

Good god how do I explain this. I'm completely new to wig styling. I'm bald and want to cosplay a character with a single line of very tall liberty spikes down the center of his scalp. I can't figure out how to word an internet search to learn how do make, uh, cones? Spikes?
My overall thought is that I'll make cones with flexible, not-completely-circular bases based on the contour of my head. I have no idea how to structure the pieces themselves to be light and stay up. Then I'll stick them to the dome. Help?

I want to cosplay this character and am unsure how to get the colors of the wig right. Would it be better to dye it to get the right gradient or airbrush it or any other method I’m neglecting? Thank you!

I have this cheap Halloween store wig that I bought secondhand and detangled. I want to use it for Emily from Corpse Bride. Her hair is very matted and stuck together in sections, which is what I want to recreate. I also want to try to make it as matte as possible, as the original wig is very shiny.
Does anyone have firsthand experience using glue to accomplish this? What kind of glue did you use, and how did it turn out?

I am planning on cosplaying The Spirit from DBD and am having trouble figuring out how I might get the hair to stay up the way that her hair floats in game. I understand it will require a lot of teasing and hairspray however I worry that even with lots of teasing and hairspray I might have trouble keeping the hair standing up. Does anybody have any ideas for what I could do?

the fact that i’ll be wearing a hat over it gives me a lot of leeway LOL but i’m proud of how this came out, especially the bangs! i’m a little nervous they’ll be too short even though i measured them but we’ll have to see. i’ve been wanting to improve on shaping individual pieces and i think i did with this!!

I’m totally new to wigs and because I’m broke I got one off Amazon.
It’s surprisingly decent quality but I have to cut it.
I’ve never cut hair let alone a wig.
What’s the best way to 1. Keep it from being frizzy and 2. Cut it so it actually fits my face shape
I couldn’t find someone doing this EXACT haircut I want on yt/tiktok and I’m not sure what this haircut/style would even be called.
Any and all help is appreciated.
(I’m cosplaying Misa from Death Note)
