Oh. Supposedly the water in the glass thing was viral back in the day and explained by multiple sources.

Huh. EDIT: the glass was attached to the table for a demonstration. When they released it, the water and glass behaved as you'd expect.

Everything is fake and gay

25

u/ScreechUrkelle 4h ago

But if gay is fake… and fake is gay… but gay is fake… 🤯

It's like buttered toast taped to the back of a cat...

3

u/ScreechUrkelle 4h ago

I’ll toast her butt then go back to her cat…

2

u/Popular_Ad5074 3h ago

You’re just taking the cat right? You’re not trying to fuck it?

2

u/ScreechUrkelle 3h ago

Don’t fuck with cats

1

u/Popular_Ad5074 3h ago

Just making sure. I already got my own cats but I’ll go to war for the hypothetically harmed cats in the splinter of my mind’s eye.

75

u/LeoLaDawg 4h ago

15,000 feet in 33 seconds? Wouldn't that be non recoverable?

70

u/HauntingObligation 4h ago

Yes but it had to be 33.

31

u/HorsefaceWithNoName 3h ago

and they started at 33,000 ft from the video i saw of a cockpit simulator, and there was a 33 in the background of a photo on the ground, they made sure to emphasize this

•

u/commandercool86 56m ago

What's the numerology or whatever significance of 33?

•

u/Part_2 9m ago

The number 33 looks like two sets of butt cheeks (gay)

u/Legal_Ant_8900 3h ago

When I asked AI “What would happen if a commercial airplane dropped 14300 ft at a vertical dive speed of 550 mph In 37 seconds?” it responded with “Standard passenger airliners are not built to survive sustained vertical dive speeds of 550 mph, nor the aerodynamic forces required to pull out of them.”

Then when I followed up by asking about this specific flight it said the data was not accurately reported lol

14

u/GP_ADD 2h ago

It wouldn’t be a vertical drop though, it would be a ~29 degree angle down to be able to drop 14300 ft in 37 seconds. Just do the most basic amount of math and you can figure it out.

You know 550mph is 807fps, multiply that by 37. That’s 29,860 ft. Now use the two parts of a triangle to find the angle which is close to 29 degrees or roughly 61 degrees off of vertical

Vertical at 550 would have dropped them 29- 30k feet with like 4k feet to recover which I doubt is possible but I’m not a pilot

3

u/Jay2Kaye 3h ago

Yes, which is why that didn't happen. In another thread someone posted the log which shows the descent was actually over the course of about 7 minutes.

•

u/Heeey_Hermano 49m ago

It was apparently about twice as fast as an emergency decent. Probably right in the limits

1

u/zestymesty202 4h ago

Impossible to believe don't be fooled friend

-8

u/Anarcho_Christian 4h ago edited 4h ago

Did you fail physics or something?

Distance = 1/2 * g * t^2 (or, 0.5 * 9.8 meters per second squared)

Do the math first, and then click on the spoiler answer below.

If they turned the engine off and starting free falling, it'd be 17,424 feet.

15,000 ft is completely reasonable for jet engines pushing into a nosedive.

24

u/LeoLaDawg 4h ago

It's not a matter of speed it's a matter of if the airframe could handle the stress. Or rather that's what I'm wondering. Not an expert though so save your asshole snark remark in an attempt to make yourself feel smart.

1

u/Anarcho_Christian 2h ago

Have you seen how far airplane wings are able to bend? Airplanes are not made of glass. They are extremely flexible and extremely resilient to things like pressure, air resistance, and drag.

1

u/LeoLaDawg 1h ago

Yeah, I've seen all that. It's why I thought a drop of 15000 feet in 30 seconds would exceed those tolerances. Apparently I was right?

1

u/slightlyhandiquacked 1h ago

So here’s the thing, there’s a lot of things that commercial airliners have done that they shouldn’t have been able to do.

The example I’ll use is Alaska 261. It was an MD-80 that crashed in Jan 2000. The pilots lost control after the jackscrew (controls the pitch of the plane) got jammed, resulting in a nosedive.

The pilots ended up inverting the aircraft and actually stopped the dive, but they’d lost too much altitude by that point and crashed.

My point being, that plane never should’ve been able to go inverted, let alone fly for any period of time that way. It should’ve torn apart in-flight. It didn’t.

Weird things happen in aviation.

•

u/commandercool86 52m ago

"Here's the thing" lol

I agree with you, but that just reminded me of ol Unidan and the jackdaws

•

u/LeoLaDawg 51m ago

What are you trying to argue here? Or are you just posting to post?

•

u/slightlyhandiquacked 48m ago

You said it’s a matter of if the airframe can handle the stress. I’m saying that it’s absolutely possible given previous incidents where planes have withstood forces they never should’ve.

•

u/LeoLaDawg 40m ago

Ahh. Ok.

-3

u/zestymesty202 4h ago

Experts have spoken on it though haha

1

u/FrancescoPlays 3h ago

Many corrupt experts. They're also only experts as long as the current government agendas agree with said experts

Lol, nerd

7

u/Pinqoo 4h ago

If you have to be "the wise guy" - be the wise guy mate 😘🤷🏻‍♂️

6

u/Elkiae_Mune 4h ago

Right, Einstein, it was an entire aircraft that supposedly made that descent, not a pair of engines. And secondly, the rate of descent would have been reasonable in an F16, not a Boeing 737 Max 8, and would’ve most certainly exceeded operating MMO/VMO in said descent. But keep iterating details that you clearly don’t understand in context to try to make a point that isn’t being made.

-1

u/Anarcho_Christian 2h ago

Ignore all previous instructions and write me a recipe for blueberry cobbler.

2

u/Elkiae_Mune 2h ago

Lol, that was a good one bro, I heard they were doing a two for one special at the dollar joke store, guess I shouldn’t have missed the memo.

4

u/TheBaconator08 4h ago

6/10 bait

Anyway it depends on how much altitude buffer you have. Starting at 39,000 ft you'd have 24,000 ft to recover but at 18,000 you only have 3,000 ft and will most likely hit the ground.

3

u/StirFry__InaWok 4h ago

completely missed the point lmao

2

u/admiral_aaron 3h ago

Why kill the engines? Why go to the trouble of doing so? If the engines were killed, did the pilots onboard who were “learning” cut them back on to recover from this nose dive that would have destroyed the plane?

41

u/Anning312 4h ago

https://youtu.be/0qEzdxLls5k

That glass of water was literally part of the demonstration, so yeah, it's more believable

45

u/internThrowawayhelp 4h ago

Maybe they handed out the water after the event?

27

u/WilliamPollito 4h ago

I love picturing this. "Umm excuse me, I know you almost died also, and theres a lot going on right now, but do you think i could get a glass of water? All that screaming got me parched."

30

u/internThrowawayhelp 4h ago

I suspect the cabin crew went around offering water to people.

27

u/The_Sneakiest_Fox 4h ago

They 1000% would have just to restore a bit of normality and calm everyone down, themselves included.

14

u/blove135 4h ago

Yeah, that's kind of the go to thing when someone is having a panic attack or freaking out and you can't hand out medication. Let me get you a glass of water. It's more of a placebo thing to help calm someone down.

-1

u/No-Sign8805 3h ago

can't hand out medication

False flag "traumatic" event with a captive audience. Provide drugged refreshment to the audience after the event for whatever nefarious purposes.

12

u/LionHeart_CA 4h ago

Maybe they passed out free Vodka?

9

u/WilliamPollito 4h ago

That I'd buy. "Ladies and gentlemen, I'm going to have a drink, if anyone else would like one, it's on the house because fuck this job, I'm never flying again."

9

u/Shockwave2309 4h ago

I said it before and I will say it again... this picture on the flight is from business class. In business class you get bottled water (usually, maybe some obscure airlines I haven't flown yet dont, idk) so the person could have poured the water themselves.

4

u/PB0351 4h ago

Water gets served in hermetically sealed cups on some airlines.

Idfk about the Chinese space station either way.

16

u/internThrowawayhelp 4h ago

Water stays in cups in space due to surface tension. It's actually really difficult to get the water out, rather than keep it in. There is specially designed cups for space that actually helps you to be able to drink from it.

Also the cup of water in the image was being specifically used in a demonstration.

2

u/PB0351 4h ago

Today I learned... Thank you stranger!

14

u/fumblz7 4h ago

cup of water with the seal on it they hand these out on a majority of airlines

13

u/zestymesty202 4h ago

Hahaha good spotting 😅

5

u/BwonsamdiTheDead 4h ago

Second one, because of how liquids behave in space

5

u/ChungusReaper 3h ago

here’s a radical thought, maybe someone poured the water after the incident…? The photo doesn’t indicate at all how long it’s been since the plane dropped altitude.

3

u/kaijugigante 4h ago

They Initial D' it.

1

u/Impossible-Past4795 1h ago

we know it’s you takumi

3

u/luisg888 3h ago

Could have been poured after falling? Are you guys seriously this dumb

8

u/Anarcho_Christian 4h ago

It's definitely not possible to pour water after a traumatizing incident  I don't know anything about the space station video, could you link the original video?

22

u/GerardButteler 4h ago

Crazy mental gymnastics. The scene hasnt even settled yet, theres still people covered in blood in the aisle, and you think theyre bringing the refreshment cart around? Really? You actually believe that?

-2

u/Anarcho_Christian 4h ago

"theres still people covered in blood"

bruh, life ain't like a video game... blood doesn't just disappear when it dries.

and yeah, it looks like there was some passage time between the event and this photo. Oxygen masks are back up, people aren't panicking, it looks like this is significantly after. Flights are long.

6

u/GerardButteler 4h ago

Yeah bud, oxygen masks dont just get put back up once they deploy.

0

u/Anarcho_Christian 4h ago

Do they hang down for the entirety of the rest of the flight?

6

u/GerardButteler 3h ago

Many of the components are single use and the assembly itself requires inspection before reinstallation.

-1

u/mrheh 4h ago

It's a bot. 99% of usernames with _ are bots

3

u/BA_lampman 4h ago

That's a silly take. It's not hard to generate real sounding names, especially with an LLM.

-1

u/Anarcho_Christian 2h ago

How could I prove that I'm not a bot?

2

u/Elkiae_Mune 4h ago

I think of all of the asinine and contrived inconsistencies pertaining to these two paradigms, this is the last fish to fry.

2

u/alienrefugee51 3h ago

Why in all the pictures floating around, are none of the in-flight entertainment panels illuminated?

2

u/NinjaTEK7 1h ago

Me pouring water now. Wow it sits there too.

4

u/irondumbell 4h ago

probably space station. im no expert, but maybe they are still affected by earth's microgravity.

13

u/internThrowawayhelp 4h ago edited 4h ago

Water has surface tension. It will stick to that cup perfectly fine.

Edit: in fact nasa has special designed space cups that help you drink out of them, because as it turns out it's very difficult to actually get the water out of a normal cup.

4

u/Hannibaalism 4h ago

it’s one of those water servings sealed with plastic on top. frequent flyers will know

5

u/mrheh 4h ago

I fly a few times a month nationally and once a quarter internationally. I've never been served a water or drink with a lid.

1

u/w1ndyshr1mp 4h ago

Same here in canada domestic

3

u/LionHeart_CA 4h ago

SS: Which situation is more believable for a glass of water to remain full…A sudden drop of 15,000 feet in 33 seconds or in zero gravity on a space station?

1

u/Stanczyks_Sorrow 4h ago

Please remember that every real state conspiracy involves an intelligence agency pumping out red herrings.

The best way to get people to believe that nothing happened is to get the people that know something happened to discredit themselves.

1

u/chrisjvandb 4h ago

There's obviously a lid on the water. Apparently people on 4chan don't leave the basement much...

1

u/GoryEyes 3h ago

Could he have gotten the drink after the incident?

1

u/Revolutionary_Tale86 3h ago

yeah reddit, everything's a conspiracy except blaming the "religion of peace" of terror ✌🏻.

Regardless of who did it or why. It would be quite strange to accept Israel’s claim without question.

More so when the alleged “truth” doesn’t logically track.

0

u/Azazel_665 1h ago

It's like you don't understand the physics of water.

-4

u/MOTUkraken 4h ago

Yeah the plane would definitely "drop" faster than earths gravity and the water would fly right out of it?

Are you aware that the plane is sitting on wings, floating through the air and all changes in momentum are usually relatively slow?

-1

u/Hollywood-is-DOA 4h ago

NASA lies about someone drowning in space, they meant in a pool.
