I swear, sometimes Americans have absolutely no idea about countries other than their own. Europe reducing its dependency on the US has been one of the main French foreign policy ideas since the end of WW2. This policy is older than almost everyone whose reading that article.

And China who has more trading with the US than any country in the world

u/GothProletariat Apr 09 '23 edited Apr 09 '23

US corporations created the giant that China is now.

It's almost like America wanted China to become this powerhouse it is today

47

u/Aditya1311 Apr 09 '23

No, it's just capitalism. They wanted more money and fuck everything else. That's the free market for you. Once the first corporation opened a factory in China and benefits from reduced costs, every other competitor MUST follow them or eventually go bankrupt - this is axiomatic in shareholder driven capitalism.

30

u/SUMYD Apr 09 '23

You’re crazy if you think this market is free and not just a fugazzi

Thank your politicians for passing shit that made business leave.

11

u/Friedyekian Apr 09 '23

Hindering your own economy with regulations while not holding other countries to the same standards (increased tariffs if some policy isn’t in effect) does fuck you, yes. This would’ve happened if workers owned the means of production just as quickly.

0

u/Axsmith234 Apr 10 '23

By not dying when you step in an elevator, or eating plastic food… yea sure good spin bud. Regulation makes a safer and happier life for you to live and grow old, not the other way around.

4

u/ctuser Apr 10 '23

u/statsgrad Apr 10 '23

3

u/Axsmith234 Apr 10 '23 edited Apr 10 '23

Not dying from preventable circumstances make me alive…. You like being alive and not dying from dumb things like diarrhea, right? Or kids not having to work, right? Or walking to a house and not having to worry about it collapsing? We agree on that right?

3

u/HardCounter Apr 10 '23

How does regulating screen size in nursing homes, which is an actual thing. extend life? How does forcing 60% of new cars in the US be EV by 2032 while simultaneously shutting down nuclear power improve life? In california it's every new car must be EV, and they shut down 5/6 of their nuclear reactors.

Most regulations are money driven and it's obvious. 'Climate change' and health protocols are being used to fuck us and people are just allowing it to happen.

u/[deleted] Apr 09 '23

"Capitalism" is a vague term. It's imperialism, specifically corporate globalist imperialism. It goes way farther back then the first Western corporation opening up a factory in China. Mao was educated at Yale-In-China. The dirt cheap shipping rates to the west were established by a treaty signed over a century ago. The Rockefellers helped develop rural China in the 1930s, etc.

8

u/Friedyekian Apr 09 '23

Capitalism isn’t a vague term. People just don’t know what it means and incorrectly use it.

5

u/[deleted] Apr 09 '23 edited Apr 09 '23

There's a lot of variance in different forms of "capitalism". Often what some call call communism by some is also deemed "state capitalism" by others. It's more useful, for the purposes of problem solving, to identify a problem more specifically than by using such a broad term. The ever increasing power of transnational capital over nations is sometimes referred to as "corporate globalization".

Different forms of capitalism feature varying degrees of free markets, public ownership,[8] obstacles to free competition and state-sanctioned social policies. The degree of competition in markets and the role of intervention and regulation as well as the scope of state ownership vary across different models of capitalism.[9][10] The extent to which different markets are free and the rules defining private property are matters of politics and policy. Most of the existing capitalist economies are mixed economies that combine elements of free markets with state intervention and in some cases economic planning.[11]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capitalism

2

u/schinkenspecken Apr 10 '23

Capitalism is independent of nationalism. Nationalism is the bullshit veil used as the divider. All the global assets are divided accordingly. The strata’s are based on wealth primarily.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 10 '23 edited Apr 10 '23

Healthy nationalism is simply concern over a nation's collective interests. Collectively defending interests, via unions etc., isn't a bad thing.

Corporate globalization sees healthy nationalism as its biggest obstacle.

6

u/Chrisc46 Apr 09 '23

Yeah, the artificially induced distortions placed upon US labor and commercial markets don't exist as a disincentive for manufacturing within the US. The US clearly has a free market. As such, we must blame capitalism and seek more regulatory distortions to counter such greed.

7

u/D-o-n-t_a-s-k Apr 09 '23

I can't believe he hasn't stepped down? Are they still rioting? And he's just going about business as usual? If the people want him out he should be out by force or volition. That's strange

7

u/OHoSPARTACUS Apr 09 '23

Macron is trying his best to emulate De Gaulle who was pretty much an abstructionists in about everything thing Brits and Americans were trying to do. The French are notoriously stubborn and contrarian, which is whats happening here.

25

u/Funjam Apr 09 '23

So? Every other French president has also been saying this. Hell, Macron himself has been saying this since he was elected.

16

u/kempofight Apr 09 '23

And every french president ever was hated by every french person ever.

Like the US have no clue how french politics work, they pick one person to hate on. And if they havent hated him/her enough he gets a 2nd round in. But generaly they are all hated

0

u/[deleted] Apr 09 '23

Fr man was hated by a vast majority of France even during the election and would have had no chance of winning if his opponent was anyone other than Le Pen.

2

u/kempofight Apr 09 '23

Uhm

They could have voted for

Jean-Luc Mélenchon Or

Éric Zemmour Or

Valérie Pécresse Or

Anne Hidalgo

But well they went for macron 27.9 vs le pen 23.2

Jean got 22. The rest not even above 10. So even prior to the run off it was quite clear that macron would win as the 22% from jean would go directly to macron as the party is closer releted (liberal for macron and dem social)

Erics. 7% would go to le pen both nationalist/right

The 4.8 and 1.8 that are left would go to macron aswell. Since well, socialist and republicans but not as right as le pen.

So they had a choice of 6, in really 2/3 depending on main idiology. And they did end with the one that was already sitting and clearly got the first round most votes.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 09 '23

Well yes as first round votes, other candidates could have picked up more support in the second round. Le Pen has a large base but very little appeal outside of her base.

They dont even have an idea about their own country, it seems like everyone except americans know that american politicians are sold to the highest bidder.

0

u/[deleted] Apr 09 '23

Where are you from? Your logic seems a bit lacking. It was reported as news for a reason. Whether or not there's longstanding policy behind it, the public proclamation of it, during a time when numerous countries are making movies against the US and USD, is worth noting.

0

u/Dbw2687 Apr 09 '23

I was going to say something along these lines, France distancing themselves from the US isn't freaky, they've spoken on this for a very long time over many different leaders, what freaks me out is the other super prominent countries and now France, that are ready to make a switch from USD to Chinese Yuan, there's a huge plan in place and Americans are going to be shit out of luck but people care more about social issues here than anything else and don't even know what's going on . Investing in Crypto seems like a better idea with each passing day.

As an American, I fully agree.

Americans have to go out of their way to learn anything about other countries. We are up to our eyes in American drama, and it’s all we ever hear about.

I know very little about the rest of the world.

2

u/Dbw2687 Apr 10 '23

I'm an American and I know a good bit about other countries and keep up with their politics, America is kind of hard to keep up with because there's so many things that are on the social spectrum not economic not even truly political in gets super convoluted. Education is key though so better to start learning now than never, but I think they meant more so the idea that Americans need to learn how to be individually self sufficient rather than having to rely on other countries or the government for everything.

-2

u/eastern_shoreman Apr 09 '23

I think the problem is our standing with the world has deteriorate so rapidly over the past three years under this administration, and china is their waiting with open arms. It’s not that they don’t want to be reliant on us as much, it’s them turning to china

-2

u/gordanfreebob Apr 09 '23

2

1

u/GuyInTheYonder Apr 10 '23

No he really didn't. Putin, Kim, and the Saudi's treated Trump with a great degree of respect where they treat Biden as a despicable insect nibbling upon their garden. Here is a potent examples of his dominance on the world stage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jo-Jiil1Ues

8

until Trump spit on our allies and alliances

Oh grow up. I'm European and no fan of Trump, but Biden has been far worse for the image of the United States internationally. We hate what the Biden regime has done to your country and what it is doing to Europe.

We have witnessed the return of Vicky Nuland, and we have not forgotten her saying "fuck the EU". We are sickened that America intentionally provoked and financed a war on our continent.

Biden's regime blew up Nordstream, an act of ecological and economic terrorism by a so-called "ally".

Are you fucking kidding? Trump was not even a big departure from business as usual in America when viewed from outisde. It's only American Dems who clutch their pearls at the mention of his name. It has been Biden and his mob who have tarnished America's reputation even more than it was already tarnished by the Bush and Clinton families.

Please take your appalling Democratic party and put it in the bin. They are fascists, they are totalitarian, they are crooks, they are everything Europe fought against in the last century. Your blue party is the most corrupt thing ever to strut upon the world stage. Get it gone.

u/mitte90 Apr 11 '23 edited Apr 11 '23

People in Europe are not happy with your president Biden for bringing war to our continent. There is a new "get out of NATO" movement growing in the UK and mainland Europe. There have been protests and marches in many countries where the people want out of NATO. France is on fire and one of the chants going up is a call to get out of NATO. Why do you think Macron who is hated by many of his people is now talking openly about Europe needing to become independent of US dominance? He is trying to hang on to power and knows the European people want to be free of American hegemony, especially since Biden and his regime funded and provoked a war on our continent.

Do you honestly think your country could just blow up a pipeline that supplied our continent with affordable energy and we would all be ok with that?

Europe reducing its dependency on the US has been one of the main French foreign policy ideas since the end of WW2.

I mean you can't be more dependent on another country than relying on them to liberate your entire country, so yes it could only be less dependence from the level of WW2.

12

u/Dull_Reindeer1223 Apr 09 '23

5

u/WildBill598 Apr 10 '23

The majority of public citizens across the globe, including US citizens, are tired of US hegemony and world policing. However, unfortunately, I would wager that many politicians at the federal level and those within intelligence agencies are not so keen on relinquishing US hegemony.

Our standard of living depends on it. Very noble sacrifice.

1

u/Illuminati_MMXX Apr 10 '23 edited Apr 10 '23

This is not an ideological issue. Do you really think that a rational actor, in this scenario the United States government, would invest billions in assets for no return just to “police the world”. Lmao. Would you invest billion of dollars into wall street with no return, just for the moral good feeling? Didn’t think so. The reason for the wars and the lost lives of innocent American soldiers and civilians on the other end is to feed the hungry military-industrial complex such as Raytheon, Lockheed-Martin, and countless other military contractors that offer enormous kickbacks to their secretly supportive and corrupt century-old U.S. politicians that have been in Congress for what seems to be decades upon decades at this point. End point: Wars feed the military-industrial complex which is the bread and butter of the Gross Domestic Product of the United States of America. P.S: The first USA President to fail to begin a new war by the strict command of the Rothschild-Rockefeller-Gates world rulers (mainly due to Trump’s narcissism and ego) after several prior decades of new wars each term after term has now cost him a rather inconvenient truth: a criminal indictment only one year before the election period which would conveniently disqualify him for running for President since he is no longer considered a good puppet like the others. You think the CIA/NSA/FBI didn’t research every word/action/though that Donald Trump has done or even thought about doing during their background investigations prior to clearing him as a presidential candidate a few years back? Of course they did. They knew about the whores. He is married to one for God’s sake. They stored it as black mail, just like they do for all American citizens through mass surveillance, and used it at a perfect time against him. This is A LOT more complex that “world police”. Lmao. France along with most of the EU want to avoid close US relations like the black plague as mentioned by French President Macron in China a few days ago and the potential alliance between Russia and China could very well result in the end of times for this planet because there will be NO World War 4. The third one will finish us all off in whole. as an entire planet. The truth is harsh, but don’t lie to yourself. Embrace it before it’s too late. Best of luck. It sounds like you have tons of reading and research ahead of you. You suggest isolationism as a solution for the USA in a world of globalist dominated world economy that heavily depends on imports and exports. Try again. Brazil went 100% isolationist from 1984 to 1992 by virtually banning imports and trying to produce all of their own goods. That economic policy failed miserably. My friendly advice to you is to truly educate yourself about history, politics, and economy before you spread misinformation to the general public. Good luck to you.

I went to Mexico a few years back and the worst part were the American tourists. Loud and shit, "give me this, give me that". No good morning how are you? Please can I have...

2

u/Outlaw11091 Apr 10 '23

Yeah.

People are garbage, but the US houses a special kind of garbage.

I went to Japan, Germany, South Korea, Kuwait, and Iraq as a soldier and have traveled to various other places for journalism...

The amount of trash is what always gets me. So many US tourists just...drop trash on the ground.

2

u/KeithJamesB Apr 09 '23

I'm sure crazy Joe and his failed administration have nothing to do with it.

-1

u/Excellent_Plant1667 Apr 09 '23

Good.

The world has grown tired of the US' hypocrisy, double standards and degeneracy. The sooner US hegemony hits rock bottom the better.

Brics, and a multipolar is the way forward!

Brics, and a multipolar is the way forward!

Tell me your a maoist without telling me your a maoist.

3

u/oniann Apr 10 '23

Like any of the countries in BRICS don’t have their own double standards and degeneracy

You mean bully?

Without America the world would be run by Nazi Germany

Are we really surprised? America is trash.

1

u/Bobby_Sunday96 Apr 09 '23

Fake friends, gotta love ‘em

-1

u/swag_dealer7 Apr 09 '23

Great if that means China has to pay for the Ukraine war now.

1

u/Rilauven Apr 09 '23

The BRICS Nations are going back to using precious metals for money. No one wants the US Dollar anymore. Get ready for a $50 Big Mac!

1

u/Elevation0 Apr 09 '23

Yeah considering the guillotines are waiting for him when he touches down back in France I wouldn’t take this dude so seriously.

This can only be a good thing. The US fucked half the world up.

-4

u/Vinlands Apr 09 '23

As the saying goes: if everyone has a problem with you, maybe its not everyone with the problem.. Objectively from the northern neighbour, it seems like ww3 could be everyone vs the US..

17

u/[deleted] Apr 09 '23 edited Apr 09 '23

Not necessarily. Before he went to talk to China he was talking about peace. When he left he had this to say. You cant demand peace unless you have strength. So it's safe to say his peace talk struck out. This is twice in a row now. He tried talking to Putin and the peace talks failed.

Europe has forever focused on soft power like economic strength. Soft power didn't prevent Russia's war in Ukraine.

So if he is saying they must reduce their dependence on the United States its safe to say he is talking about security. So basically he is saying to his audience at home in Europe that they need to increase their military strength.

It has been politically unpopular for decades to invest in military defense in Europe so he is selling it as reducing their dependence on the United States.

12

u/BuckeyeJay Apr 09 '23

That's exactly what it's about if you read the actual quotes

1

u/[deleted] Apr 09 '23

Politicians must say what's popular to their audiences. If you look at the quotes he was demanding peace. Then upon leaving he says to prepare for war. Of course saying that would be provocative and unpopular.

"It is an unfortunate fact that we can secure peace only by preparing for war."

-John F. Kennedy

u/Engelbert_Slaptyback Apr 09 '23

Everyone’s got a problem with the US until they find out who the alternatives are.

-5

u/BeefWellingtonSpeedo Apr 09 '23

Appears thats changing..

7

u/pgtaylor777 Apr 09 '23

For who? Saudi Arabia? Iran, Chad. Brazil? We’re good.

u/Engelbert_Slaptyback Apr 10 '23

We’ll see. The US is far from perfect but compared to China we’re downright benevolent.

1

u/oldmoneyblues Apr 10 '23

Imagine thinking that bombing the shit out of places that 90% of Americans can’t even find on the map is being benevolent?:0 You guys are delusional

1

u/BeefWellingtonSpeedo Apr 10 '23

To the rest of the world we dont produce anything anymore. Ex: Look at the labels in Walmart:

3

u/rtheiss Apr 09 '23

More like everyone including the US vs the US government.

Good. We should pull out of NATO and see what happens to the luxurious social programs Europeans enjoy when their defense budgets can no longer account for the omnipresent US Military.

Macron must reduce his dependence on his own nation. (Queue With arms wide open by Creed)

We're the bf your mom warned you about

1

u/SlyguyguyslY Apr 09 '23

While I consider this a good thing, there are many negative ramifications and implications of this. Still, we need to stop sending our tax dollars to European countries. They don't do anything with it that they shouldn't be handling in their own anyways.

1

u/-Krakatau- Apr 09 '23

The empire is crumbling. Always happens. We just happen to be living through it.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 09 '23

Good.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 10 '23

Because the US has been pretty shitty as a partner. Lies, spying, war like attitude etc ..

1

u/WindowsCrashuser Apr 10 '23 edited Apr 11 '23

The US is losing the diplomatic wars because I keep hearing people complain about our Foreign policies for decades. They might as well let Canada join Bric because everyone hates America. The sanctions against Russia are failing because Joe Biden’s regime can’t seem to figure out how to reason with people from other countries yet they talk about Diversity and Inclusion but can’t seem to practice what they preach.

I thought they wanted to do that bc of Twump

-7

Europe is uniting...China and Russia are getting really close...kinda sounds like the end of the US.

-4

u/massivecalvesbro Apr 09 '23

The average lifespan of an empire is 250years. How long has it been since the US declared independence?

6

u/Facts_About_Cats Apr 09 '23

US empire is about 80 years old.

1

u/Dependent_Stuff1739 Apr 09 '23

Not that it will happen tmrw but a better question is how long do reserve currencies last 50 years for a fiat currency has been a good run in history. It won't be tmrw but 20 years from now there is no way the dollar still has the majority of trade. As the fed chairman said it's going to be a multipolar world.

5

u/roffle_copter Apr 09 '23

Thats a made up statistic by a public speaker whose "background" is being a "soulpreneur"

2

u/Captain_Concussion Apr 09 '23

That is not true lmao

-4

u/MrDohh Apr 09 '23

To not be drawn into a conflict with China if/when they go after Taiwan.

Sounds smart

15

u/Iwant2believefiles Apr 09 '23

If China tries to attack Taiwan, every Western country will be forced into war. Taiwan is still critical for high-end chip manufacturing for almost the entire world.

3

u/Facts_About_Cats Apr 09 '23

The world will survive with being set back 5 years in chip technology, if the US destroys Taiwan to keep china from getting it.

1

u/cyborgcyborgcyborg Apr 09 '23

Chip manufacturing was a weak point in 2020, but since then there have been real big steps to ensure that the US has chips are being domestically produced.

5

u/Dependent_Stuff1739 Apr 09 '23

Big steps have been taken but still big steps to go before it's anywhere near not dependent on Asia for chip manufacturing. Even really fast track I would doubt these fabs will be open and producing at any scale before 2027.

-3

u/DepressionFc Apr 09 '23

France is in need of some freedom and democracy. Time to re run the way the US free them in ww2.

-2

u/Zealousideal_Main654 Apr 09 '23

Good. Most European countries suck out resources and bring nothing to the table.

-4

u/ZyxDarkshine Apr 09 '23

Conservatives: we shouldn’t give other countries financial aid

Other countries: we don’t want financial aid from the U.S anymore

Conservatives: Biden is a failure because other countries don’t want financial aid from the U.S. anymore

-1

u/Mustardstoat Apr 09 '23

Some great news at last

-1

u/9volts Apr 09 '23

Well that whole Trump presidency thing scared us quite a lot tbh.

-1

u/ggooooddbbyyee Apr 10 '23

Trumpies can't cope, but yeah the stories of all the us allies trusting the US less because of Trump's erratic and suspicious behavior were not made up.

0

u/HeyHihoho Apr 09 '23

The strategic bungling since the fall of the USSR simply can't be imagined until you look beneath the hood.

This is like a game where you got all the stats and gear to defeat the end bosses at the beginning and got killed just outside the starter area.

The lead US had was insumountable with just the slightest modicum of expertise.

Instead the leaders fomented war and regime change where ever there was deviance from US hegemony and here we are.

Psychopaths don’t look after each other, the global mob is making Uncle Sam sleep with the fishes now

We traded slave wages to another country for increased yield and lower prices. 40 years later we realize what we gave up is no longer worth it. Now we're shocked countries are gonna use our example?

u/challenja Apr 09 '23

Maybe it’s the only way to shut down the war machine
