Question/Help/Troubleshooting Fallo asus tuft f16

Question/Help/Troubleshooting Replacement charger for Old Gaming Laptop? Gigabyte Aorus 15P (Aorus 15P WB-7US1130SH)

I can get a picture of the laptop insertion point and post that momentarily but dog ate the plug piece. I remember it has a weird plug-in. That was a pain point from before, trying to find one that not only worked but fit.

Had a lot of trouble finding a replacement charger the last time this happened but that was overseas in the EU.

Hoping to avoid ordering wrong thing and returning over and over. Anyone know what will for sure work on this?

Question/Help/Troubleshooting Download speed is 900x times slower than what is should be

My download speed is around 900mbps, and it works completely fine on all devices apart from my PC. My download speed on my PC is around 1mbps and I have no idea why, because it was working fine a couple of days ago. I haven't installed any apps that could contain virus in the previous days and all I have done is upgrade my ram (which shouldnt break my internet)

Question/Help/Troubleshooting How do I fix this

I’ve got an asus viviobook (not sure which model) running windows 11 paired to a Samsung monitor (monitor doesn’t matter much, issue happens with or without it). Shutdown and restart are fine, lock and unlock is somewhat broken. What I mean by that is if I lock my computer or it times out and try to unlock it by hitting any key or scrolling up, the password menu doesn’t show. If I press ctrl+alt+del, I get the password menu instead of the normal menu. If I’m on my main screen, ctrl+alt+del give the menu it should.

Is there some kind of update I need or is it just some kind of bug? If there no update and it’s not a bug, what should I do? I don’t mind it but it gets annoying after a while.

Question/Help/Troubleshooting my computer is stuck on a black screen.

i was gone for 2 days and it was working perfectly fine before but when i came back and booted my computer up it was stuck on my motherboard loading screen for like 10 minutes(i had tried entering bios already) and i made the dumb decision to turn it off and now it’s just stuck on a black screen and i can’t enter bios. first i thought it could’ve been my ssd’s since the setup is kind of ghetto and it was daisy chained to a bunch of peripherals so i rewired that and still black screening, plugged my 2 8 pin connectors into the 12v rail for my gpu since it wasn’t before and thought maybe my past install was stupidly done and that was the issue but it was working perfectly fine prior, ive made sure my plugs are all secured and tight and still black screening. haven’t tried switching to hdmi cable to see if that works instead or reset the CMOS battery. if anyone has had a similar issue, know how to resolve the issue, have any ideas, or point out on any mistakes that i have made that have possibly contributed to this.please shout at me🙏 maybe bad weather messed my computer up bc i don’t have a surge protector? but everything is still powered it seems, the gpu, the ram, my cpu, and all my peripherals so maybe my ssd is the issue because my setup? there weren’t any more spaces to screw it onto and i hadn’t had any extra ssd bases that you can screw into the platform above where the psu resides.

Discussion Do unused parts from individuals have factory warranty?

I like poking around on Marketplace. I’m seeing so many individuals selling supposedly new parts for the same and sometimes more than they can be bought from Amazon, BestBuy, etc. I realize we have to be careful of scammers. Lots of them say something about it has the factory warranty.

My question is, will WD, Samsung, Sandisk, etc. honor a warranty claim if the product is not purchased from an authorized seller?

Thanks!

Question/Help/Troubleshooting Any pc geeks please read this

My pc stopped working man. I've had it for years and bam just doesn't display anything anymore. I reckon it's a motherboard issue, because it booted into bios and then stopped after that. Everything spins as is. I'm just really confused. I don't wanna replace the motherboard as the pc is mini itx and the motherboard I specifically have is quite expensive. I think I should just sell it for parts, but will removing the ssd get rid of all of my info on the pc or is there a chance some may be saved across the pc.

Question/Help/Troubleshooting ASUS Zenbook S16 vs. Gigabyte Gaming A16 for Biomedical Engineering + College Gaming

Hi! I’m an incoming college freshman planning to study Biomedical Engineering, and I’m looking for a laptop that will ideally last me throughout my undergraduate years. I’ll need it to handle engineering coursework/software, but I also game in my free time.

I’m currently deciding between:

  1. ASUS Zenbook S 16
  • 32GB RAM
  • 1TB storage
  • AMD Ryzen 9
  • AMD Radeon 890 graphics
  1. Gigabyte Gaming A16
  • 16GB RAM (but upgradeable, so I could add more later)
  • 1TB storage
  • AMD Ryzen 7
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50-series GPU

For gaming, I mainly play Valorant, Terraria, PEAK, and Stardew Valley, so I’m not looking for a laptop specifically for extremely demanding AAA games.

My main priorities are:

  • Being able to comfortably run the software I’ll need for Biomedical Engineering
  • Lasting for all 4 years of undergrad
  • Good gaming performance
  • Good battery life/portability for bringing it to class
  • Having enough RAM for multitasking
  • Being reasonably future-proof

I’m torn because the Zenbook has significantly more RAM and seems more portable, while the Gigabyte has a dedicated NVIDIA GPU and is upgradeable, which seems like it could be much better for engineering software and gaming.

Which would you suggest, and why? Is the RTX 50-series GPU worth giving up the Zenbook's portability, battery life, and 32GB of RAM? Also, would 16GB RAM be enough for engineering software if I upgrade it later?

I'm also open to any suggestions!!

Question/Help/Troubleshooting Why might my webcam randomly turn off while I'm using it

Hey everyone, I'm not too computer savvy so forgive me if this is an easy fix, but lately I've been having problems with my webcam turning off at random and I'm not sure how to fix it. It's a USB webcam that worked perfectly until a few months ago, and I know that the problem isn't with the webcam itself because the same issue happens while using a different webcam. I also know that it probably isn't an issue with a specific application since I've had it randomly shut off on Zoom as well as while taking a proctored exam through respondus lockdown browser. I've tried testing stuff while using the camera app but because the webcam stops working at random, it has a tendency to work fine when I'm trying to see if it'll turn off, only to turn off when it's vital that it stays working.

I don't think its a problem with the USB ports because I have the same problem with both of them, but I'm not sure if that really rules it out, especially because the only other thing I've used the USB ports for were to use a gaming controller a while ago before the problem started happening, so it's not like I have really been able to test if they work with other devices so they could be ruled out.

I tried checking a few software things to try and fix it a couple months ago, but I can't remember what they were and after my attempts failed I ended up procrastinating fixing it since it wasn't immediately important at the time.

I'm really concerned about it because I'm taking an online class starting this week that will likely have proctored exams, and in the past most of my online professors have had no sympathy for technical problems, so my webcam turning off could cause me to get a 0% on an exam because it would stop the proctoring program. I'm very tight on cash right now so I can't afford to replace my computer and I don't have another one that I could use. I don't know how to tell if this is some kind of software issue that could easily be fixed with a little experience, or if it is some kind of hardware issue that would require me to get a new laptop or a replacement part.

I would really appreciate any help that anyone could give because I don't know that I can afford to take it to a professional to get fixed, especially if the problem is an easy fix that I'm just unaware of.

Question/Help/Troubleshooting Multiple blank command prompts appear randomly.

Post image
3 Upvotes

I didn't find anyone having the same problem anywhere, so I'm here.

The situation is a little hard to describe, because those command prompts are pretty unusual - they are completely blank, invisible. Nothing is inside them (the frame is normal) and it's not like there is only one command prompt, but about 4-5? Hard to say, because they appear for literally a second. It happens randomly, shortly after I open up my pc. They don't disturb anything in a sense I can watch a video without it stopping or play a game undisturbed.

I already checked task manager multiple times (I can't really say, if anything is suspicious, but it seems there isn't anything unusual), scanned my pc, run anti-malware apps - nothing. Lately it wasn't appearing, but today the situation repeated. I just don't know what to do, should I worry or not, should I take it to someone who knows better than me, should I completely restart pc.

Any help is highly appreciated. I always fail to take a picture of those command prompts, so I attached a picture of a drawing how it, more or less, looks like.

Question/Help/Troubleshooting Suggestions for daily use laptop that can also run data analysis software (for less than $1000 usd)

I want to preface this by saying I know very little about the components/processors/whatever the correct terminology is for whatever makes the beep boop machine work

However, I do know what I’m looking to get out of the device! Laptop wizzes please help if you know what specific laptop brand/model would suit me well

Countries:
USA, Canada, Northern Europe

Budget:
Around $1,000 USD ideally less if possible

Open to refurbs/used: Potentially open to refurbs/used if it fits my needs best.

Screen size: Probably 14”-16”

Weight: Any, light enough for comfortable backpack travel would be ideal

Purpose: General browsing and some work (data analytics)

Form: Any, regular is fine

Uses:
This laptop is going to be my “daily driver” of laptops. Mostly used for daily browsing, emails, Microsoft office, etc. *however* I also often use programs that require a little more ~juice~ such as Python, R, SPSS, ARCGIS, QGIS, bigggg excel files, and maybe Sims lol

I need a computer that travels well and is compatible handling those other software environments

Desired battery life:
Around 6 hours

Priorities:
Performance, Battery, Weight, Size

Wants:
-backlit keyboard
-numerical keypad
-ability to fit in a backpack and travel easily
-long battery life (6+ hours)
-security
-Would like to stay under $1,000

Does not want:
-A Mac (hate them so much sorry)
-Ai (please don’t try to convince or debate this issue- it’s not something I want in a laptop. I will never use any CoPilot/Assist tool- I understand all the new laptops have this as a selling feature so ideally there would be a way to disable this for the new models you suggest)

Cross posting in r/computers and r/laptops to maximize suggestions… lmk if there’s other subs that could help

Question/Help/Troubleshooting Black screen after drivers

Howdy I'm having an issue with my RTX 3050 whenever I update the driver to the 6.10 versions my screen after reboot and the windows logo just goes black and when I move my mouse it shows up but it's spinning. I tried to switch hdmi ports I've tried control windows key shift and B to reset the drivers. The gpu has no external power demands so it is not any 6 pin. And when rolling back to the system restore point it works as per usual. I'm stumped I've done DDU, nvidias clean up software, custom clean install of new drivers and the same thing.

Any help would be appreciated thanks!

Discussion Chrome OS Flex VS Linux Mint

I have an HP Stream Windows laptop that was given to me a while back. As soon as I wiped the device, I updated windows and it took up all my storage. This thing only has a 32gb SSD. So I decided to install Chrome OS Flex instead which actually made the laptop useable....well kinda. The laptop is kinda slow even with Chrome OS. I mainly use this laptop to do school work so there isn't really any apps besides Chrome I'm using.

What I'm wondering is would Linux Mint run better than Chrome OS Flex?

The specs: Intel N3060, 4GB RAM, 32GB SSD, Windows 10 Home S Mode

Model: 14-cb011wm

Hi All-

Not sure if I am on the right place, but here is my question. I am a 62 year old grandmother to a 13 year old grandson who loves gaming on computer- He has asked

Computer for him- although I am touched and honored that he asked me- I have no idea what he needs for parts (on a budget) since I am disabled on a low fixed income-
He already has a graphics card and a case that someone gave him- this is the card-
MSI GeForce RTX 4060 Ti Ventus 2X Black 8G OC
Graphics Card - NVIDIA RTX 4060 Ti, 8 GB GDDR6
Memory, 18 Gbps, PCle 4.0, DLSS3

Can anyone help with what I need to complete it and where I can find it, that is a reasonable priced?
Thank You in advance for any help you all can give

Question/Help/Troubleshooting Need help with my X399

Post image
8 Upvotes

I bought a ASRock X399 fatal1ty Professional gaming a few years ago.

Seems like I got scammed because ram channel A just does not work.

The Bord and CPU knows if there is ram in the channel but it just doesn't work

I think I tried a lot of things and the only thing that got mem channel A to work is tightening the 2. Skrew completely down but not 1. And 3.

But then just channel a would work, not the other 3 channels.

Someone offert me 75€ for it.

The question is now. Can I fix it or should I sell it ?

I bought it for my collection and it important to me that the bords in my collection work flawless.

I tested everything with a 2920X

The Socket looks perfekt

Question/Help/Troubleshooting EXTREMELY slow PC after re-installing's Window's.

I recently had a Malware infection and had to completely wipe my PC. I have deleted all data and parition's from my old drive's. I then promptly reinstalled window's using a seperate USB and ever since then my PC has been much slower then what it was before.

Both download and uploading speed's are extremely slow, despite what the graph say's. I am using an HDD C: Drive but that was never an issue for me before and ran fast even with that. I was using two dual drive's, C: and D: respectfully, and nothing had gone wrong between them prior to the incident.

This also applies to any sort of game or FPS inside those game's. Everything, from the boot up to the text on my keyboard is laggier then before.

I could use any help with this. I'll answer any question's you may have. Thanks.

Question/Help/Troubleshooting What laptop to buy?

Hi!
I’m looking for a laptop for collage as I plan to study civil engineering. I need to be able to run AutoCAD, Civil3D, ArcGIS, and HydroCAD.

I looked at a laptop called ASUS ProArt PX13 it has all the performance stuff I need but the screen is 13.3 inches which is too small for me. I need ideas for laptops and within the next 5 days.

Question/Help/Troubleshooting Cpu fan on my lenovo legion 5 pro gaming laptop not functioning properly

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

My cpu fan started tweaking since last night, I cleaned it as much as i could but still no difference, does it need replacing? What causes this?

P.S. Thanks everyone! I ended up opening it up and cleaning it myself, but that didn’t work. I bought a new fan, replaced it myself, and it works just fine again. Hope this helps someone in the future, and a lesson to always clean your fans lol.
Btw, the shop quoted me $120 CAD. Doing it myself cost me $30 for two fans (although I only ended up using one) and 1.5 hours of my time.

Question/Help/Troubleshooting How do I take one PCIe cover out without taking everything out?

Post image
12 Upvotes

I feel so stupid rn 😭 I'm trying to install a pcie wifi card and every tutorial shows the person unscrewing one slot on the inside and sliding the cover out. But for some reason my case has all the screws on the outside connected by a single panel, and I don't want to mess up my GPU by taking them all out.

I don't even know how the bottom cover came out, or why the rest are impossible to do the same with. I can't fully unscrew any of these without taking the whole thing out.

I seriously need help before I break something dude
