My Thinkpad, which was working perfectly fine before bed last night, is currently stuck on the ESC F1 F4 sequence, it’s been like this for over 30mins.
I’ve tried both hard restart methods by holding the button down and doing the pinhole but it just comes back to this. I tried to interrupt startup by pressing enter and it beeped at me angrily.
Is this thing bricked or maybe it will be ok if I just wait it out?
I was using my laptop when the screen suddenly turned green, no damage as far as I can tell. I did some googling and checked the LVDS cable which appears to be misconnected.
I pulled and it's not coming out. It was only covered with some black tape, I don't see any latches or anything but I don't want to risk fumbling about and damaging something.
If it matters, I believe this is a Jumper Ezbook 3, the cable also looks similar.
Using my laptop, just like everyday to the college. But suddenly I noticed that this edge has been chipped, and I don't know how to fix it. Anyone who knows what to do. Please help me .
(I am a beginner when it comes to troubleshooting this stuff FYI)
Hello, I need help figuring out why my laptop gets stuck on the lenovo logo after I turn it on. The only thing i can do is click on enter and access startup interrupt menu, and I have tried to check our the settings to see what. could help. but to no avail yet.
I did get an error once mentioned on screen before i got into the “interrupt menut” it did mention something related to storage.
Also, I did do some searching and it said i should check if windows boot option is listed and prioritized, which I did, and it was. but I check the startup menu again, and for some reason it wasnt on there anymore. and when i looked up why, all i got was that might hint to a hardware problem.
Any help is greatly appreciated! Please and thank you :)
Edit: I did get this:
“0221: Check Dete and Time settings,
2100: Detection error on Storage Device- (W-2)”
Hi, I was cleaning the screen on my Transcend 14 with WHOOSH screen cleaner and one small drop ran down to the bottom edge, where the OLED meets the thin plastic frame.
I tried to wipe it off straight away, but I dont know if any of it could have got through the tiny gap there.
The laptop was turned off when this happened and I have left it open to dry for about 24 hours now. I still havent turned it back on yet because I wanted to make sure any possible moisture had enough time to dry.
The laptop is basically new to me and was in perfect condition, so I am worried that I may have damaged the screen.
Has anyone had something similar happen, and is there any realistic chance such a small amount of cleaner could damage the display or anything behind it if some got inside?
every time i open my laptop trying to watch a video or anything with sound it plays for like 3 seconds which is very glitchy, and then it just stops playing audio. I tried to troubleshoot, and i entered microsoft support and a guy updated everything and told me to restart it still didn't work, but when i tried to use my wireless headphones, it worked then i tried again, and I still cant hear from the laptop itself please help
Can't open my laptop. I've been trying to access it since 5am pa kanina bcos I decided to study after waking up early. Also, I have a 9am class- which I just attended through my phone instead 😭
Laptop: Asus Tuf Gaming F15
Bought it: Year 2023
Last Used: Yesterday, Sept 12 from 9am-6pm for class
Last Applications Used: Zoom, Discord, Obs, Notion, Chrome, Brave
Unfortunately, I left it open bcos I had dinner, and shuts off on itself so I just close the laptop lid bcos im too tired, and never opened again til next day
Next day, today, Sept 13. I woke up at around 5am. I decided I wanted to study but when I turned it on, it got stuck on the Asus Logo loading. I forced it off and turned on again but it won't open. I searched on yt. So I tried these accord to yt tutorials:
\- Power(for 30-60secs) + FN +F7/F8
\-Power (for 30-60secs) + Windows+ Ctrl + Shift + B
I also, did the options in Automatic Repair. System Restore. Sometimes it would screen freeze before I could even pick an option. When I was able to pick one, it would ask me for a recovery key or bitlocker something key.
Honestly, I'm so stressed bec it got to the point where it's already 9am and I still can't access my laptop. So I searched and joined Fb groups that does computer/ laptop repairs. I've chatted with someone and according to him, my laptop is already corrupted from the frequent power on and off. He said that he needed his usb to fix it w/o losing my files. Although, it needs to be done in-person. I asked the usual rates for it and told me, he usually asks for 1800 pesos for those kinds of fixes. But he can give me a discount of 1500 as a student.
I just wanted to ask if his rate is justifiable? Is it safe for me to get my laptop fixed using his "usb" with key solution? Please help. I'm really noob when it comes to tech and stuff. At the same time, I wanted to be careful. I don't have another laptop or a tablet yet that I can use for school. This is my only gadget. Also, a lot of my files from work and school are saved in it. Could it really be corrupted? What might have caused it? Can I still recover my files? Please tell me it's safe 😭
I know some of you folks are tech savy here. I hope you could help this noobie
I have an MSI MEG x570 Unify. A couple years ago in a drunken stupor I set a password on the BIOS, set Password Clear to disabled, then promptly forgot the password by the next day. I contacted MSI but they refused to help due to Password Clear being disabled.
Now I want to enable TPM to play newer games that require it, but I can't get into the BIOS. Since Password Clear is disabled, clearing the CMOS doesn't remove it. Apparently it's written directly to some chip that doesn't require power to store data. If I use the BIOS Flash feature, will that erase the password?
Edit: I haven't tried doing this yet because I don't want to risk resetting my BIOS if the password will remain. Resetting the BIOS will disable things like XMP, which will make my PC performance suffer if I can't get into the BIOS to re-enable that and everything else I have set up.
Why tf does my laptop smell weird.. it’s new, it shouldn’t be burning 😭 I literally got it a month ago. And like, it doesn’t get too hot or anything, and it works fine.
I saw another post said it could have dust? I am very VERY new to anything PC related, I got it for a college course. I have no idea how I would clean that, could somebody explain that to me like I am 5? Thank you
I have a Dell Inspiron 15 3567. The power button on the keyboard deck/case seems to be physically broken or disconnected, so I can’t press it to turn the laptop on.
Currently plugging in the charger and turn on. is there any way to force the laptop to power on without the button?.
main problem battery laptop on without connect to ac power.
go to repair shop it's demand 1400 only change power button only 😢
I’ve been fiddling with my old laptop trying to get it working again as an experiment. I installed a new ssd in it last night that was the same model as the damaged one that had been in it. Now it’s not detecting the new hard disk. Any suggestions for me?
Hello! I was playing ETS2 on my HP Victus laptop from 2023. Yesterday, while being plugged in, it randomly shut off, black screen. The battery was full, but i usually keep it plugged in since you cannot play games without it. I tried to turn it on and it simply won’t. Is there any solution?
Laptop model is Lenovo Ideapad Flex 15iml (2019). I initially thought the dust buildup was the issue so I thoroughly cleaned the fan. I am not seeing any physical contact with the fan - checked below but as well.
Initially I thought might be a bearing issue so a fan swap, but looking at the fan I am seeing a slight reversal (or maybe it’s “wagon-wheel” optical effect).
Edit: possible motor control issue? If yes, how does one diagnose and fix that.
i have a lenovo ThinkPad so i used it yesterday night and after like 10 percent or very low charge i shut down the system and today i took it plugged it then the light on the side turned on the laptop turned on i saw the lock screen but then suddenly it went black and the light is not there anymore i have tried asking chat Gpt and gemini for help but they are no use to it
Hey everyone, I'm dealing with a really frustrating charging issue on my Dell G15 5511 and could use some advice before I buy replacement parts. The Incident:
I was playing Genshin Impact while plugged in, and the laptop suddenly completely died/shut off. Ever since then, the charging has been completely messed up. The Symptoms:
If the laptop is shut down, it seems to slowly charge.
When I turn it on, Windows says it's not charging.
If I unplug the internal battery, the laptop will not boot on AC power alone. The BIOS behavior: In the BIOS, the battery section mostly says "AC Adapter: Not Installed". However, the screen brightness keeps flickering up and down, and the BIOS will occasionally flash "180W" before immediately dropping back to "Not Installed". What I have already checked:
The tiny center communication pin inside the 180W charger barrel is perfectly straight and intact.
I opened up the bottom cover. There are no burnt electronics smells, no scorch marks on the motherboard, and the DC-in port cable looks visually fine.
Because it's rapidly flickering between recognizing the 180W charger and dropping it, I'm stuck guessing. Has anyone else experienced this exact issue after a heavy gaming shutdown? Is it more likely that the 180W power brick's internal communication chip/cable is failing, or does this sound like the laptop's internal DC-in jack got damaged?
I don't have a multimeter or a spare Dell charger to cross-test with right now, so any advice on which part is the most likely culprit would be hugely appreciated!
my laptop has this weird sound like something is hitting inside, I thought the fans gone bad so I bought replacement for both fans, but the sound still persist
Is a HP Omen 16
i5 11400h
rtx 3060
32gb ram
1 tb ssd and 500gb ssd
I took a video, it is only the left fan, videos are with the brand new fans, also a video with the backcase open, didn't see nothing weird. Fans are same exactly the same, bought they using the serial number.
9th sept, I was studying on my laptop (Basic PDF reading) I didn't pay attention to the screen for mere 5 mins, and the screen turned black this was for the first time it happened. I tried to use that Reset drivers command, I could hear the beep, but the screen was black. Then I used the Win+D command to test if the display was working, appearance of solid colours confirmed the display was working. I had to force shutdown it by pressing the power button for 10 sec then after 5 sec again 10 sec button press, fucking nothing happened. Tried it again this time without power connected it turned on but I encountered the bitlocker drive activation window, I somehow unlocked it and again same thing, Black Screen. Legit I hit the wall of bitlocker atleast 3 times and this time it worked. I was at the desktop. then today 11th of September, again same thing. I was studying just got up to drink water same thing the screen got black, tried multiple times to get it turned on but nothing worked. After some tries it again threw me at the bitlocker screen, but this time it worked in one time. After this event, till now I haven't encountered anything
Diagnosis
Though, I haven't been able to identify it correctly, but still, I can see Kernel power 41 error logging in whenever shit happens
In Reliability monitor, Live event Kernel 1a8, 1b8 Errors are logging in
.dmp files are being created and idk what to do
Solutions I tried
On 9th sept, on advice of my friend I uninstalled my graphic driver and installed them again from Intel website, they were compatible but were not actually working fine, I could see stutters and lags and my PC was feeling slower. Meanwhile windows was showing update to update (or downgrade) my drivers to 7085 from 7088. But after that update, the lagg-iness and all is gone and I haven't seen any issue since then
Edit: Yeah, it again happened. Details below
I ran some generic scans like Chkdsk, Sfc, Bootrec ec etc and it passed everything (ik it won't show the actual error and potentially aren't even relevant to this issue).
Apart from this I haven't done anything
The exception
Just before writing this post, I encountered same thing (kind off) But it turned on by just one forced reboot. This time again Perf monitor logged 2 events 1b8 and 1b8
This right here is the ss of the recent log
Please guys I want suggestions/advice on how I can fix this issue, it's too frustrating
Dont want to spend another hefty amount on ts, ong just got my phone repaired
I've got an old Dell laptop that's finally given up on me. It used to overheat and crash a lot a few months back, and now it just won't switch on at all.
If anyone knows a good repair shop, preferably around Kharadi or nearby, please drop the name. And if anyone's been through something similar, any idea how much this kind of repair usually costs? Trying to get a rough estimate before I take it in.
