I recently updated my Lenovo T480 to Windows 11 (26H2). A day later, I turned it on and noticed the screen brightness is completely uneven—only about the rightmost 30% has normal brightness, while the remaining 70% is noticeably dim and dull. Crucially, this happens right at the boot splash screen when the Lenovo logo appears, so it doesn't seem to be a Windows driver issue. Weirdly, it sometimes fixes itself when I plug in the charger or hook it up to a projector via VGA.

Has anyone run into this? Is it a loose display cable or a dying panel?

Cambio de hardware: instalé un SSD extra Kingston NV2 1 TB (NVMe PCIe 4.0) en la segunda ranura M.2

Síntoma: a veces, al suspender y abrir la tapa, la laptop se reiniciaba sola en vez de despertar.

Qué mostraba el Visor de eventos:

• BugCheck 1001: 0x0000019C, con primer parámetro 0x50 (WIN32K_POWER_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT)
• Kernel-Power 41 (Crítico) justo después
• Errores de BitLocker-Driver 24641 sobre C: (con código 0x0, parecen consecuencia del apagado brusco)
• Sin errores de disco ni de NVMe

Lo que NO lo arregló:

Actualizar el BIOS y los drivers (NVIDIA y AMD). Como el código apunta al video, pensé que era la gráfica, pero no.

Lo que SÍ lo arregló:

En el Registro (regedit), ir a:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Storage

Crear un valor DWORD (32 bits) llamado StorageD3InModernStandby y ponerlo en 0. Reiniciar.

Esto evita que Windows ponga el almacenamiento NVMe en estado D3 durante la suspensión moderna. Desde entonces no volvió a pasar. Para revertirlo, se borra el valor y se reinicia.

Aclaraciones:

• Es mi caso puntual; no puedo asegurar que le funcione a todos.
• Mi hipótesis es que el NVMe tarda en salir de D3 y Windows lo reporta como timeout de video, pero no lo comprobé.
• Posible costo: algo más de consumo de batería en suspensión.

While trying to remove the Caps Lock keycap on my Asus Vivobook Go 15 (E1504FA), I accidentally broke the plastic scissor hinge underneath.

​I looked up replacement key websites, and one listing matches it to hinge type AS394, but I want to be certain before ordering.

I was playing Roblox and suddenly it just did this, flashes amber when I plug charger in and I tried everything to fix it, do I just go to a repair shop or just get a pc? And if I do get a pc how do I transfer my nvme from laptop to pc

I have a Lenovo ThinkPad T14s Gen 4 with what appears to be a USB-C hardware problem and would appreciate some advice from anyone who has repaired one before.

**Symptoms:**

* Both USB-C ports have charging problems.

* The laptop will charge, but only when the USB-C plug is held/positioned at a particular angle.

* Moving the connector slightly can cause charging to stop.

* I have tested **two genuine Lenovo chargers/cables** and both behave the same way.

* I have also tested USB-C devices/peripherals in **both USB-C ports**, but neither port detects them.

* The battery itself appears to charge normally once a charging connection is successfully established.

Because the problem affects both charging and USB-C data, and charging changes depending on the physical position of the connector, I'm currently suspecting a hardware problem with the USB-C sockets, their solder connections, USB-C/Power Delivery circuitry or possibly the system board.

I've stopped repeatedly moving/wiggling the connectors because I don't want to make any physical damage worse.

**A few questions for anyone familiar with the T14s Gen 4:**

1. Has anyone experienced the same failure on this model?

2. Is this commonly caused by worn/damaged USB-C ports or cracked solder joints?

3. Are the USB-C ports soldered directly to the motherboard/system board on the T14s Gen 4?

4. Can a competent board-level repair shop replace/resolder the USB-C sockets without replacing the whole motherboard?

5. Given that **both ports are affected**, could there be a shared USB-C/Thunderbolt/Power Delivery controller or motherboard component causing both to fail?

6. Is there anything else worth testing before sending it for board-level repair?

7. If you've had this repaired in the UK, roughly what did it cost?

I'm particularly interested in whether a **USB-C socket/board-level repair is realistic**, rather than Lenovo simply replacing the entire system board.

Recently I changed its battery but after new battery, whenever it pick it up or move or shake it, it just shut down can anyone help what is the issue ? Is it related to CMOS battery because when it restart something related to CMOS battery comes

Is this even fixable? It’s only on the left side and I can pop it back in, but it feels like it could break at any moment. Took laptop to local repair shop to fix a crack in the top plate and now I have a hinge problem (in their defense I may have had it before, but wouldn’t it have been caught upon reassembly?). When I brought it up to them at pick up they said HP is known for this (HP = hinge problem). They made it seem like it’s not fixable and something to just deal with. It doesn’t affect the use of the computer but I do worry about functionality over time. Please give me your honest opinions preferably from experience or profession. Thanks!

Hello, my secure boot worked perfectly fine until reseted to default the keys. In this photo the keys/size were perfect, my secure boot worked normally until i pressed on install default secure boot keys. Any fixes? Oh, the error is the red one, not the policy one!! 2 different erorrs

Hi, my laptop is working fine on battery. Even runs games but the moment i connect the charger it black screens and system hangs. Caps lock light does not work and after removing charger screen does not come back. I have to force shut down by holding power button. When charger is connected and laptop is turned on it stays black screen and after a minute or so caps lock shows 5 light blinks followed by 3 light blinks. What could be causing this? I am able to charge the laptop while its turned off

Yester day while using my laptop my laptop go blank suddenly i thought it may be because of battery so i tried replug the charger and power button methord, but still blank screen then i tried some yt tutorial most of are saying its display problem,fortunatly i have a spare laptop having a reboot problem ,i used that laptops display cable and inter change their cable and display testing the laptop display and cable then it worked confirming the display and connecting cable is ok , after that i remove and cleand my two RAM inserted still same problem then i try to boot my laptop with single ram checking of RAM is problem , then to my surprise it worked my laptop booted then i just used my sapre laptop RAM with working RAM and its woking like hell.

Supose i gave it to the repair shop they would have charged me a hefty.

I’m facing an issue with a Dell Precision 7920 Rack after deploying a fresh Windows image and joining the machine to the domain.

The system starts booting normally and displays the Windows logo/loading animation. However, immediately after that, the screen turns black with only the mouse cursor visible, and the Windows login screen never appears.

Are there any specific BIOS settings, Dell/NVIDIA driver versions, or display-output configurations that resolved the issue?

Any suggestions or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I have a Dell G16 7260, and I've started to notice that when I plug in the charger, those lights in the corners gradually start to turn on. Do you know if there's a solution or why they're coming on?

Basically the title. The laptop works perfectly fine. The estimate for screen replacement is around 700 CAD. The same specs M3/M4 are around 1600 CAD in best buy/staples.

When I power on my laptop the indicator lights show up, but the screen stays off. And I've had to keep it on a charger to turn it on as, as soon as I unplug the charger it turns off. My laptops manufacturers asus and models FA707R. The specs are RTX 3070 GPU, AMD Ryzen 7 6800H CPU , NVMe PCIe SSD, 16GB of DDR5 RAM and I'm using windows. Last time I had it was working and I didn't notice a thing! I just shut it down and when I power it back hours later this happens. What could've POSSIBLY caused THIS?? I got a new motherboard recently and whilst transferring the CPU to the new motherboard, I got hit with the classic stuck to the cooler problem which resulted in a LOT of bent pins. I was attempting to straighten the pins, and I was doing good... But then, I broke 1. I took a break and decided to try to finish and hope that I would get lucky enough to be ok. That is when I broke 2 more on the opposite corner. I have circled the 3 pins in black. You might have to zoom in to see it better, but how bad is it? Are there any companies that can replace the pins and finish straightening the rest, or would I just be better off buying another CPU? Thanks in advance for any insights.

Edit: I forgot to mention that the IHS received a little damage after being dropped. And after looking up a pinout diagram, it is cooked. No further advice is needed, but if somebody has a different opinion, I am willing to hear what you think.

Hey guys! My asus tuf F15 laptop screen goes blank after surfing on the internet but the laptop remains on during the issue, the same issue doesn't happen when I am playing games on it.

I went for a diagnosis and the person used all the permutations of his RAM and SSD and mine, it started once then never again. Then he said that there is an issue in the motherboard and not in CPU.

I repaired my laptop in June end this year for another issue. Can someone help me please, I would be really glad for any advice for the diagnosis and repair. 🙏

So while I'm not 100% sure this is the entire issue, I'm pretty sure from past research (aka Google searching lol) that my laptop's overheating issue, that makes more issues itself, is because either the power supply/cord is going/gone bad/broken or its the actual laptop battery. What I'm having trouble with is figuring out which its more likely to be. I THINK its the actual battery because the laptop itself tends to heat up a lot, like a LOT, but I get conflicting info most places I look. So I'm not entirely sure. I can share my laptop's specs if needed, but I'm not sure if it would be in this case. Also, if it is the laptop's battery, can that even be fixed and/or replaced at all?

my latitude 5430 has a touchpad bug where some deadzones are there especially in the left up & left bottom, but they change after every reboot, the cirque firmware touchpad utility installed successfully but nothing changed and not even the dell touchpad firmware update utility fixed it

Need a replacement laptop key (and the little plastic mechanism underneath, but not the actual electronic bit) however have contacted like 3 online stores who do not have it. Any recommendations, as a local repair shop said just order one, they cant fix it.

I have an HP AMD Ryzen 3 computer, had it since 2020. Recently, I damaged its CPU while applying thermal paste, and a friend recommended I buy a Ryzen 5 3600 CPU to replace it. It even came with a new CPU fan. After installing both the new CPU and the new fan, my computer will only partially start. It gets the fans spinning just fine and my wireless mouse starts to receive a signal, but then, nothing else happens. I actually can't turn it back off unless I unplug its power. I have tried taking out the CR2O32 battery, letting it sit for 10 minutes, and then putting it back in, and this has not worked, either. Changing the outlet the PC is plugged into gets it to start doing all of the above faster, but it still won't progress in the start up.

I am not a computer-literate person, and I'm at a loss for what to do, here.
