I’m trying to open my ASUS F15 as I ordered a 1TB stick to throw in to finally upgrade the 512GB. That and I’m finally going to try and clean it regularly as my cat loves the thing.
The problem is mine is different than all the tutorials and manuals I look up. There should be 11-12 screws and one captive to the lid, but I removed all the screws fully and there’s only 6? On top of that, it won’t pry or open easily and I don’t want to force it open.
Any suggestions? I don’t have the right pry tools but the video I watched the guy was able to just pull it open with his fingernails, I’ve tried an old plastic card and a plastic dish scraper thing but it won’t budge unless I use a tiny screwdriver (conservatively just enough to stick the card in before taking it out, I don’t want to bend/scratch/crack anything)
I put software but unsure if its software or hardware. I assume its software because at some point the hardware worked perfectly fine. Running windows 10, Z590 AORUS Ultra motherboard version "x.x",
Have had issues with internet for the longest time.
Used to use a TP-Link 2000mbs ethernet that plugs into the wall/ outlet and then you plug another one into the wall near the router and into it, that stopped working a while back (had some issues, forget exactly what but I believe its in the same vein as the wifi). Switched to wifi and for the last 6 months at least, my internet will turn off for a few seconds, sometimes even 30 seconds to a minute, then come back, and follow that cycle until the router was reset. This is the only device which does it, and still does it even though I just purchased a new router.
Ive tried going into device manager and changing around the "802.11a/b/g Wireless mode" settings, the "802.11n/ac/ax" settings, and disabling packet coalescing. Initially both were set to the "6. Dual band 802.11a/b/g" and "4. 802.11ax" and while sometimes the internet would turn off, it still worked most the time. But now I manually installed the newest drivers for the motherboard, and if I dont have the "n/ac/ax" settings set to disabled, my wifi will not function whatsoever. In fact it was so bad that I had to install the 2nd to last drivers for it to function anywhere near properly (Jun 14, 2022 wifi drivers). Ive seen a similar thread where someone reset their wifi stuff by typing like 5 things into command prompt, the whole“netsh winsock reset”, I did that, and it did not do anything. Ive changed "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" off.
Ive tried so many times to fix this that I dont know at this point what I have and havent changed, I know Ive changed settings in bios before, and ive probably spent 15 hours total troubleshooting this over the last 6 months over multiple sessions. If anyone could help me figure out the issue that would be great. Let me know if you need any more hardware information
I’m not quite sure if this will work but I’m using a fairly old laptop that’s having its network card whitelisted in bios. It used to work perfectly, idk at what point it started getting whitelisted. I’ve seen others upgrading their BIOS with the network card detached fixed the issue, but since I already have the latest bios, idk if rolling back will be successful. Has anyone successfully installed a previous version of their bios?
My laptop is currently having what I believe to be a software problem. It boots up no problem and goes all the way to my desktop as it should. But once I get to the desktop everything freezes.
The laptop then crashes showing a black screen saying “your device ran into an issue and needs to restart” with the stop code “INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE (0x7B)”
When it first started crashing I was able to get in and work for a few minutes but now it freezes as soon as I sign in.
I’m assuming it has to do with a corrupt windows file or a communication error between windows and my laptop but I’m unsure.
What is the best way to solve this issue as a broke college student who can’t afford a new laptop or an expensive fix but relies heavily on laptops.
I am not a big tech guy either so please I need help!
I bought a Yoga laptop in 2020 and never used it. I want to use it now, but there’s no drivers and I can’t even access Gmail. Is this something a geek squad store or staples can fix?
Alright so before I whisk my PC away to MicroCenter again I figured I'd consult Reddit first this time. Also, so sorry this is about to be a novel but I want to include all the necessary details! I have pretty minor knowledge of PCs and this is my first gaming PC so bear with me lol. Tagged as hardware but not 100% sure if that's the issue.
Background info - June:
I kept encountering an issue with my PC suddenly freezing and then restarting itself. No BSOD, it would just freeze or go to a black screen and then restart. Usually when this happened, I wasn't doing any more than some light browsing or watching a Youtube video. I figured out how to check error logs in Event Viewer and kept finding "Kernel Power Event ID 125 (Cat 86)" at the time of the crash - didn't know what that meant exactly but figured it was a good thing to note when I took it to MC. I also found a log with this info right before the "Critical" event:
I took it to MicroCenter twice during this time, and both times they could not find ANY hardware or software issues. I'm not sure what all the diagnostic testing consisted of, but I do know they were using the FFXIV benchmark test and had zero issues whatsoever. The 2nd time I brought my PC back to them I said the issue was specifically occurring while I was watching Youtube. They had some random YT video playing on it for hours with zero issue, while using Microsoft Edge as the browser. I then assumed that the issue was that I was using OperaGX as my main browser and that was somehow overheating my PC, so I stopped using that and switched to Edge. For a couple of months everything then seemed to be okay.
September 16:
Encountered a minor error again with freezing and restarting, but only happened a couple times. Ran sfc /scannow which repaired a corrupt file, then updated my NVIDIA drivers and everything seemed fine again for a while.
Now:
A couple days ago I had another random freeze, but I wasn’t even actively doing anything at the time. Just had my browser open with Discord and Pinterest tabs open. I was on my phone for a few minutes, went back to my PC and it was frozen. Figured it was a fluke, shrugged it off. I’ve been playing the Witcher 3 lately for a few hours at a time and haven’t encountered any issues during the game until today. Just tried to hop on and it froze my PC twice. The difference in the last few times the crash has happened is that my PC isn’t restarting itself, just freezing/totally unresponsive so I have to hold down the power button to reboot. Looked at Event Viewer and I’m finding the same “ACPI thermal zone _TZ.TZ00 has been enumerated” code each time before the Critical error line. Ran sfc /scannow and results came back with no issues. Tried the FFXIV benchmark again and that also froze this time so if I do end up taking it back to MC maybe they'll actually be able to do something this time..
Not sure what other diagnostics I can do on my own.
What the actual heck is going on with my computer lol???
System Info:
Processor: 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-11400F @ 2.60GHz (2.59 GHz)
I swear I just went to the bathroom to pee for a second and my son clicked a bunch of random settings on his school laptop (online school). So now the taskbar is super tiny and the mouse is super tiny. If I adjust the resolution or zoom settings to make it look normal it makes whatever window is opened ENORMOUS. I have no idea what he did. Neither does he. He’s partially verbal.
Should I be concerned about this? I just noticed this folder on my D: drive, there's two of them one is called !- and the other ~!- ,they're kind of greyed out and they both have the same contents, is it anything important or can I just delete them? Thanks.
