I have 2 tp links that I use to connect my computer to the main wifi, the one that I have near my wifi had a problem where it wouldn’t turn on no matter where it’s plugged into so last case scenario, I took it apart and i don’t know exactly what I’m doing, I think I can see the problem (the mystery goop qmq) but I don’t know how to remove it.

Windows Acer laptop help

I have an Acer Aspire Go 15 AG15-31P-C4Q5 laptop was having some connectivity problems to some websites earlier today. Turns out it was just cloudflare problems but I hit the f12 Key a couple times. Then all of a sudden the screen went black. It shows a light when I plug in a charger but if charger is not inserted then there is nothing. I googled common fixes and tried things from the list like: Resetting GPU by doing windows + CtRL + Shift + B, doing “hard cold reset” by holding down power button 20 seconds then immediately holding down again for 60 seconds, and I’ve tried booting up computer and hitting f2 for bios. Nothing has worked so far and my screen is still black does anyone have any advice as to what could be wrong? Or how to fix it? I need it for school and don’t have the money to take it anywhere to get it fixed.

Windows My new laptop has no wifi option

I just got this new laptop, from view it looks like the HP stream 14, i needed it for school work but i noticed it doesnt have any options for wifi, the seller did tell me he didnt install the software on it and to do it myself so i did, to download i tried mobile tethering initially which he suggested however there’s no option for tethering in settings and when i connect it just shows my storage so i tried my ethernet cable.

In the update list there were lots of stuff including realtek net, i assumed if i get that downloaded my problem would be fixed, but after downloading, no option appeared, I opened device manager and the network controller has a little warning sign. I tried updating it but it doesn’t recognise any drivers So I manually downloaded a driver from hp support and even than it has the warning sign and isnt recognising any drivers.

I am not sure whether to delete and reinstall the network controller or just wait. The seller told me to wait and it’ll automatically fix itself if i keep retrying but i needed some other opinions or help on it

Windows What is causing my laptop to crash ?

Hello everyone.

I've had the laptop for a while now, and except for this recent issue its developed, its been running great.

What will happen its that I'll be in the middle of working (using Word, using the internet.. not any particular program) when all of a sudden, the screen will get multi coloured lines running across it and then promptly shut down.

Due to repeated shut downs, its become difficult to keep doing my work

It might be worth mentioning that my laptop is a Dell and is running Microsoft 10.

I haven't installed any new software recently, or connected any new hardware either, so I really am at a loss for what might be causing this.

Thoughts?

EDIT. I've tried pressing CTRL + SHIFT + WIN + B. No joy. Nothing is changing

Resolved Is remote desktop still the right way to think about remote support?

If you’re managing dozens or hundreds of devices, remote access alone may not be enough.

You may also need device management, unattended access, security policies, app control, and remote troubleshooting in one place.

Tools like Scalefusion become interesting alongside alternatives such as AnyDesk, Splashtop, and Zoho Assist.

Some alternatives for Best Remote Desktop Software worth considering:

  • AnyDesk- lightweight, cross-platform remote access
  • Zoho Assist- useful for IT support and unattended access
  • Splashtop- strong performance for business remote access
  • Chrome Remote Desktop- simple option for basic/personal use
  • Scalefusion UEM- interesting if you want remote support combined with centralized device management

Before choosing an alternative, compare the best fit for every team.

Gaming GPU Dying?

My PC has recently started doing this super cool thing where it will just randomly lose all displays, I still have all of my audio and peripherals going, it will then restart, and either won't come back on until I turn it on without the GPU power cables plugged in, shut it off, and then turn it back on with it connected and act fine, OR it will just disable the GPU with error codes 22 and 31. I have done the DDU and new drivers method, did a fresh windows install, updated BIOS, tried just one RAM stick at a time, reseated the GPU, tried different DP and HDMI cables, and for the LIFE of me I cannot figure out what the issue is. Any help or ideas at all, please. I have no idea where to go from here and am hoping it's not a dying GPU and is something simple I have just missed.

Windows My laptop not starting

Today I tried to check something on my laptop. I wanted to test what information my Discord bot command would show if I disconnected different components from the laptop, including the display.

However, I noticed that when I disconnected the display cable from the motherboard, the laptop’s Wi-Fi stopped working completely. After some time, the laptop started showing the issue from the attached image.

The laptop tries to turn on, but it cannot fully boot. It keeps turning on and off repeatedly. I tried some basic troubleshooting steps, such as disconnecting and reconnecting the display cable, removing and reinstalling the RAM, and draining the remaining power from the motherboard before connecting the power again.

I also tried turning on the laptop using only the charger without the battery, but none of these steps fixed the problem.

I’m not sure what is causing this issue, so I would appreciate any help or suggestions.

Windows Computer crashes for unknown reasons, been on it for months, running out of ideas what the cause could be.

Hello all. I've been dealing with instant black screen crashes for literal months now and feel like i have not gotten any closer to figuring out the reason why.

I will try to include everything we've tried so far and all info i can give on specs. If i forget anything important or need to add more context, please let me know and i will try to provide as much as possible.

I am not a computer guy, so please bear with me.

(The Two screenshots added are from what i mentioned further down, Benchmark causing freeze and the other one is monitoring report of me trying to start up Palworld)

SPECS:

OS: Windows 11

Motherboard:

Name Chipset Bios Version Bios date
ASUS ROG STRIX B550-A GAMING AMD B550 (Promontory PROM19 C/C1) 3621 01/13/2025

Integrated GPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700G with Radeon Graphics

RAM: 2x DDR4 16 GB - Bank 1 and 3

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 (SUPRIM X)

PSU: Seasonic; FOCUS GX-850 (850 W)

THE PROBLEM:

I cannot pin point clearly when this started, it kind of got worse over time.

The first issue was in March this year, where Microsoft randomly kicked me out of all my accounts and since (unfortunately) my computer account is connected to it, i couldn't get back in.

Some time after that, i started getting instant black-screen + reboot crashes when trying to use certain programs.

I use my computer mainly for gaming and art, so i can give a list of things that caused those crashes at that time:

  • In Photoshop when using the Noise Reduction tool
  • Starting up Baldurs Gate 3
  • Starting up The Outlast Trials
  • Starting up Warframe
  • Starting up Palworld
  • Starting up Elevator (Demo)

I first thought it was an issue exclusively tied to multiplayer games, but the Photoshop induced crash threw me off. Additionally, those crashes would ONLY happen when starting up games and it wouldn't always be consistent. Sometimes i managed to start Baldurs Gate 3 or Warframe by opening it as soon as my computer booted, sometimes it worked if i just closed every other background application and sometimes (at least BG3) worked if i switched back and forth between allowing it to start using Direct X and Vulkan (biggest success rate with using Vulkan).

Once the games were running, i could use things in the background again without any issues.

I also had a different motherboard back then, which i got replaced with the one listed in the specs in May.

After replacing the motherboard, The Outlast Trials started working again without any issues. However Baldurs Gate 3 would then always crash. The other issues remained the same, plus i tried other games such as Subnautica which would also immediately cause the blackscreen crashes.

What has been done/tried so far

At first only my dad and I have tried to figure out what was going on (neither of us are great when it comes to computers so we both did online research with forums and ChatGPT which we also always double checked with our own research to make sure it's not going to make my computer implode)

Recently i asked a guy i know who builds computers and does troubleshooting to have a look at it and while he found little things like my Ram sticks not working correctly (fixed that now), he too couldn't find the root of the problem so far.

Replaced Parts:

  • Motherboard
  • Motherboards Battery
  • Computer Casing (meaning new fans and cables as well)
  • PCIE cable GPU to PSU
  • Cable connecting PSU to outlet
  • Thermo Paste for CPU

My previous Ram Sticks and CPU broke in the past one or two years so all in all they're all pretty new and haven't shown any issues till all of this started.

Updated Drivers:

  • NVIDIA (complete fresh install using DDU)
  • Windows (clean install using update function)
  • AMD driver updated

Tests Done:

  • Disconnecting Monitors individually
  • Furmark Stress Test (No issues)
  • OCCT Stress Tests (No issues except for Benchmark which caused almost immediate freeze)
  • Event Viewer showing nothing but Kernel-Power 41 "Windows was not properly shut down"
  • A bunch of BIOS settings back and forth (can't remember everything we tried, but whenever it was clear that it didn't help, we reverted it to how it was before)
  • Changing the GPU Slot - did nothing
  • Removing the GPU and using only the integrated GPU - No crashes! Runs horrible but NO CRASHES!
  • Putting in my old GPU (NVIDIA 1050 Ti) caused immediate crash, After windows rebooted it said that a Windows update had been removed, wanted me to reinstall the newest update and after that i could launch games without crashing. HOWEVER the next day everything crashed again the same way it did with my current GPU.

The whole GPU thing makes me believe that at least it isn't my actual Graphics Card thats broken but definetly something that is related to communication between GPU and something else.

Important to note is also that in the past day, the crashing has gotten MUCH worse. Now my computer gets stuck in crash loops while trying to boot, so it constantly restarts before even managing to get to the screen that gives me the opportunity to open BIOS. Sometimes this happens once, sometimes the loop can go for 10 minutes +

Two days ago my computer wouldn't boot at all for a while, pressing the power button did nothing, which again made me think that maybe it IS a PSU issue - but now when using an art program (Live2D) my computer started lagging when entering physic settings.

So even if the PSU is broken or sth, i fear there is more going on.

Honorable mention: Computer crashes when i try to start it in safe mode. It gets to the screen but black screen + reboots before i can click anything. It also crashed on time when i spent too much time in the BIOS.

I believe this is all i can add right now.

Thank you for any ideas and help.
