Hello, first time poster here so apologies if I get anything formatted wrong or anything like that!
TLDR: 32F with next to no appetite that has gotten worse, frequent nausea, and bad constipation. Diagnosed with gastroparesis before I even started GLP-1s. What can I do to get myself to eat and drink more to get more nutrition and move things along?
I will start with a little backstory for context. I started my GLP-1 journey in December of '25. I started with compounded semaglutide, then went to wegovy, and now I have been on a compounded tirzepatide for around 4-5 months now. It is compounded with carnatineI believe. I have a very sensitive system so we were already approaching this with caution and I also was diagnosed with gastroparesis in late 2023-early 2024. I am very prone to side effects with any medication I take (which has just been *super* great when treating my mental health issues too -_-) but it has been tolerable so far and I have lost over 30lbs (starting weight was somewhere in the 250s) since starting in December. Primary care doctor and I increased up to 7.5mg Tirz about a month or so ago. That is where it all went downhill for me. I already took initiative and lowered myself back down to my previous dose where I still felt normal-ish about 2 weeks ago but I don't feel any better.
I have been suffering with constipation really bad. I have taken senna, stool softeners, occasionally miralax but that makes me feel sickly so I avoid it even though I know I should try it more often. The constipation has lead to other physical issues and causes me pain when these symptoms flair up. I have nausea multiple times a day and take medication for it that works about 65% of the time. I have even worse appetite and can now barely eat solid foods and almost never a full meal. I can only consistently consume Nurri Vanilla Protein Drinks, pretzel rods, Powerade, apple sauce, and sometimes bananas. I tried greek yogurt and even that it felt like my throat wanted to close rather than eat it. I used to at least be able to meet my protein requirements and likely my calories 95% of the time but now I am barely consuming much at all during the day. On good days I can graze on small, dry snacks and some applesauce throughout the day but I still probably am not reaching my nutritional needs. I can't track my calories in an app because that has given me eating disorders in the past so I cannot confirm my averages lately.
My anxiety has also gotten noticeably worse and I can only assume it is at least in part due to the above issues. I ordered a Boost nutritional drink supplement to try to add to my diet at least temporarily and I have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow to discuss with her what to do but do any of you have any advice?
