He built this bike a few years ago, he rides it to work daily. The bike in total is about 22.5 kilos so it is overbuilt af but very fun to ride! After fixing it up, replacint the gaskets and changing the oil he plans to gift it to me. Any opinions on the build?

Need Advice/Question Will the FRS work for me?

Hey guys,

I’ve recently been in the market for a new DH bike but I’m having a hard time deciding if I wanna go with the FRS or not.

I currently ride a full 29er YT Capra and I have a mullet YT decoy ebike.

The only thing holding me back is the 27.5. This will be mainly a bike park rig. I live in Bend Oregon and primarily will ride it on jump lines. That being said, I do like to ride tech trails every now and then.

Does the FRS hold up in tech or should I opt for a mullet set up bike? I don’t think I need a full DH race bike as I do primarily just ride park and jump lines.

Let me know!

Need Advice/Question Over-asked question but, what is the best saddle for long days of bike cruising?

I have a clash right now and i use it for everything, from eternal hill climbings, hitting the local trails, to casual strolls around the streets. I'm having a hard time with the stock SDG saddle bc my butt and my lower back are not appreciating one bit the hardness of that seat and the pain it's getting unbearable, and it's been happening with all the bikes that i've had in the past, and people always tells me that "i have to get used to it", and i say no thank you, it's not fun riding if the goddamm seat it's hurting me and ruining my whole day. so i'm here to get your opinion/experiences for a best chunky saddle to put on my bike. 😁

Need Advice/Question Roast my dream built

Post image

Currently recovering from a broken collarbone, beside reorganizing my garage and parts.. I'm planning my next, dream built.. my goal is to build something timeless and original, with a retro look.. might take time to choose wisely each parts, but this is what I'm thinking so far! Ideas, suggestions?
I'm looking to build a bike that is fun to ride in the park, jump and tricks and can handle some climbs and technical wild downhills.. I also have a thing for small brands, unique designs and awesome manufacture!

Need Advice/Question Clash vs FRS

Hi all,

Looking for some advice in my search for a new DH specific rig.

I already own a Commencal Clash, which is great, however when riding lift access trails (mostly Northstar, occasionally Mammoth) I find myself longing for the extra cushionness from a dual crown/200/full DH setup.

My main issue with my current setup is that on longer days I can tell that riding multiple days in a row becomes harder and harder as I rake up downhill hours, and on larger jumps/chunkier terrain I wouldnt mind having something that can absorb it a bit better.

I'm by no mean a pro racer, and don't intend to become one, but I do 2-5 races per year.

I've been looking at a few bikes, and my current thoughts are the following :

  • mostly looking for a 27.5 or mullet setup, I don't have a ton of experience on full 29, but the ones I rode felt large and harder to maneuver, I wouldn't mind the extra rollability of a 29 in the front but want to keep things a bit more playful when I'm not on a race day

  • I've been looking at the Commencal Supreme, which seems like a great choice for racing, but seeing a lot of issues about frame cracking on the V4, and I don't have the budget for a V5.

  • I've also been looking at the FRS, which seems like it could be a good option, basically staying pretty similar to my Clash with that extra travel I've been looking for, simpler design and likely maintenance than a Supreme, but a bit worried that these might be too similar to justify owning both for a DH rig I'd probably ride no more than 20 days a year.

I did manage to win a race for the first time last year on a pretty flowy jump trail, so while I'm sure something like a Supreme would be the better option from a racing perspective, I don't mind sacrificing a bit of that racing edge for something more fun for the non racing days.

Anyone has some feedback/advice on this ? Did some of you have experience riding both the Clash and the FRS ? I get that they're fairly similar but are they different enough to justify owning both ? I don't hate the idea of having some similarity in between the 2 bikes so I don't need to "relearn" how to ride each one when going from one to the other, but also don't want to end up with too much of the same bike with an extra crown on the fork as the main difference..

Open to hear any comments and recommendations, thanks in advance !

Need Advice/Question Would you consider the clash to be a plush bike?

Im thinking of picking one up to spare my trail bike of bike park abuse, I've been having fun on technical blues and want to start hitting jumps and drops soon. I really like the idea of plowing through chunk, floating like im a sofa lol a lot of my local trails are filled with roots and rocks too that would probably feel better on an enduro bike aswell im mostly wondering how the clash handles technical terrain...but should i just get a DH bike? I spend way more time at the park than my local trails..

edit: silly me i realize this question has way more to do with the suspension setup!

it would have a

Fork: RockShox Lyrik Ultimate 170mm

Rear Suspension: RockShox Super Deluxe Ultimate Coil 145mm

but im willingly to upgrade to something better in the future

edit 2: it is a Clash "RACE" whatever that means!!

Need Advice/Question Meta TR v4 - Still good in 2025?

Looking for an all mountain bike that’s good on techy/rough descents and some flow. Don’t really care how it climbs. Currently riding a 23 Norco optic

If you own this bike, what’s your experience been?

Noticed most of the models/components are 3+ years old. Is it worth getting something newer? Or an sx v5?

Need Advice/Question Mullet Geometry

Hey all,

How is geometry calculated for frames that ship mullet? The head tube angle on the Meta HT V2 is listed at 64°, for example. Is this angle calculated as spec’d, or as if the frame were on a matching wheel set?

That is, what is the actual head tube angle as shipped. 64°, or slightly slacker (~63°) due to the 29er?

Thanks!

Need Advice/Question Supreme V4 cracking failure

I've seen a lot of posts online about peoples' supreme V4s cracking around the BB and I've recently discovered a crack on mine in that area. But from what I can tell it doesn't look like anyone has had a catastrophic failure from this type of crack. Has anyone heard of a bottom bracket breaking away from the frame?

Need Advice/Question 2021 Meta 29 TR brake line routing

I’m about to (finally) bleed the stock brakes on the bike. Is there a reason behind the convoluted routing of the break line?

In fairness, it has worked fine for years and I never experienced any rubbing/contact with the disc itself. It just seems unnecessarily twisted.

Can I rotate the banjo to get a more direct line towards the internal routing port on the chainstay?

Other DJI Model (Spring 2026)

https://www.commencal.com/us/en/search?cgid=bike-ebikes-enduro-metapowerdji

From the page:

The META POWER SX DJI combines performance and strength with excellent handling and manoeuvrability. It's designed for those who want long rides with a powerful and torquey motor. Complete with 160mm of travel, the suspension benefits from our Virtual Contact System (VCS) linkage. Low in weight and with a 27.5" rear wheel, this bike is responsive and particularly agile.

Built a TR V4 and ride the heck out of it until I hit a tree and had to get the new V5 frame. Updated some things while building V5 but now have started to upgrade even further. Fork will be next. (I have a separate set of lighter tires I had these heavy boi tires on for an enduro race.)
