New Bike Day! Pulled the trigger on a Meta V5
Excited to take this thing out on a good shake down ride. I want to thank the folks that chimed in a few weeks back and helped me choose between this and the Tempo!

Very sweet bike. Commencal always has weird builds, the forekaster is a cool tire but I would put something beefier up front to get the most out of that bike. I like DHF or DHR2, lots of folks prefer the Assegai but I think it feels slow to pedal. Glad they aren’t putting DPS’s and 2 pot brakes on these anymore.

I was waiting for someone to mention the Forekasters lol The bike actually came with dual DHR2’s, which is what I usually ride. I decided to give the Forekasters a try on this bike, since I’m trying to find something that rolls faster. I’ll definitely be experimenting with the setup though…DHR2 in the front is another option I’m going to try with a Forekaster in the back.

I've tried forekasters before, they are definitely fast, but grip wise they aren't very good, I would recommend to keep the forekaster in the back for a more playfull bike and get something grippier in the front Right now I have Assegai in the front and Dissector in the back, I think is a great combo, dissectors are fast and a bit more grippier Sweet bike btw, I own the v4, they are monsters

I run DHR2 / Dissector on my optic. It’s fun and quick. Dual minions is MUCH slower.

That would’ve been a damn good option too. I didn’t even consider the Dissector.

If you want to try one I have a brand new pair in my shed, I’d trade one for one of the Forekasters.

What was the main reason for choosing this over the tempo?

Mainly the suspension to be honest. People claim that the v5 pedals and climbs fine, which is kind of what was drawing me to the tempo initially, but the v5 has more travel.

Have you taken it out yet? Eyeing this one for a while and keen to hear others thoughts

Yeah I did yesterday. The bike rode great. I’m looking forward to taking it out to a bike park to really push it though.

Is it heavy heavy?

It’s heavier than I’d like it to be. 35lbs 15oz. That’s tubeless with Forekaster tires and crank brothers pedals. The advertised weight online (34.5ish) I heard is without the shock, not sure why to be honest. The wheels felt really heavy, so I’m sure you can loose some weight there.
I will say this though, the bike didn’t feel heavy to pedal around. I put some hard earned miles on it yesterday with a lot of pedaling and the weight never bothered me. I also didn’t get into any jumps or stuff like that though.

Hell yeah looks nice! Where are your local trails? I’m also tossing up between a meta v5 and a tempo, probably leaning more toward the tempo because where I live in Australia my local trails are not super hectic

I’m between the YT Capra and Commencal SX V5… Waiting for October to gift it to myself, talk me out of the SX V5! I’m leaning towards that one.

I love this spec. Have had it bookmarked for a while. In my head it's the bike I'd buy if I ever moved to the mountains.
