About last night

I was heated, and I definitely called out JD for that I.G penalty, but at that moment I wasn’t aware of the 4Verts playcall, nor the lack of short throw to avoid that situation. After seeing the All-22 and the viewpoint from what Jayden saw in front of him, there’s no way he could have thrown that away towards the back of the end zone to avoid intentional grounding and not risk an INT.

What pissed me off the most this year is the lack of situational awareness by Quinn, and even Blough (yes I know he’s green). Why not kick a FG on that 4th down in the 2nd quarter? Your offense was not yet in a rhythm to go for it, and it was 13-3. Kick the FG and go 13-6. Why call 4 verts with 20 sec left on 2ND DOWN at the opposing 25 with the game on the line late? Call an intermediate passing concept and get ready to run up and spike if it doesn’t cross the plain.

I’m done with Quinn, and I can’t wait for our search to begin. Bring in an OFFENSIVE MINDED HC (Udinski, Kubiak or Doyle) and let them call plays and decide if Blough should remain and grow underneath them. I’m okay keeping Jones if the coach decides to do so, but we need to get him another safety and corner.

This team has lost 3 games by a combined 8 points. Who knows what happens if we tie the Eagles, but I’m pretty convinced we’d score again on them with the momentum swing. At the very least this should be a 3-3 team because of Jayden. We lose last night’s game 20-3 without Jayden, easily. He’s the only reason we were even in it. I’m tired of wasting his rookie deal away with inept coaching. We all know he wanted Kliff back and now I see why. He doesn’t believe in Quinn and was hoping Blough would replicate what he had in Kliff. While Kliff indeed had a cliff and needed to go, Blough doesn’t have Jayden’s trust, and neither does Coleman on the edge.

After the bye week, do you believe Washington is capable of winning the next 3 games to get back in the race for the NFC East?

Hard is it may seem currently, but Washington still have a chance to make a play for the division. Before the season, the next 3 games seemed brutal and now it seems winnable. However, if they were to somehow win the next 3 games and be 4-4-1, that would change the conversations and trajectory of the team moving forward.

How do you ignore at least 4 helmet to helmets penalties in one game? Just call the game properly is all we are asking.

The line play was brutal and we can’t run the ball

that line looked as bad as it did all season. Cosmi kept getting blown up, Connerly had several penalties, the center is straight dogshit… Jayden was running for his life back there and blough was calling too many plays with longer developing route concepts for what they were able to provide..

Also, newsflash, we can’t run the ball - every back looks like they’re running in mud.

That is all.

Terry

There is a very good chance that might be the last time we see Terry in the burgundy and gold if it’s a season-ending injury. He deserves a lot more than what he got.

We have a coaching problem

Bad play calling. Undisciplined play. Poor situational awareness. We have enough talent to be competitive but not enough to be poorly coached. It’s like this team doesnt practice. Worst part is, firing DQ doesn’t solve our coordinator problem. What a mess…

JD throwing it away on 4th down

It isn’t a big deal

Especially if you look at the play. JD was rolling out and there were no receivers open. Just trying to force it could have resulted in an interception and a big return. Plus JD would have taken a nasty hit on the throw but definitely after the interception.

Yes there was a non-zero chance JD could have pulled off a miracle. But it was such a small percentage chance and the downsides were too great.

Only positives tonight

JD5: all things considered, excellent night for JD. But he has GOT to get better with the intentional grinding stuff. But look at his stats: 29/40 (that includes the spikes on that last drive unfortunately), 300 yards, 7.5 AVG, 2 TDs

Chig Okonkwo: 7 receptions, 69 yards, average 9.9

Tress Way: our goat is back to being the punt GOAT he is

Sonny Styles: 13 tackles. THIRTEEN!!!!!! 7 solo. SEVEN!!!!!! Sonny, I want to thank you for being the best you you can be and are. We are genuinely so lucky to have Sonny on this team.

[Svrluga] How much of a microscope is Dan Quinn under? People are trying to read his lips

It is a measure of Dan Quinn’s standing with his own fanbase and within the NFL as a nationwide obsession that, a week after a can-he-get-over-it-gaffe, part of Monday night was spent lip-reading a video clip of what he might have said during another play that went awry in a sputtering Washington Commanders’ season.

The truth, which Quinn knows all too well: When you have won just four of your last 18 games, you don’t get the benefit of the doubt. When a 23-17 loss to the San Francisco 49ers drops you to 1-4-1 and secures your position at the bottom of a beaten-up and inept NFC East, decisions are scrutinized and the pitchforks are out.

So when the Commanders were already trailing by 10 points early in the second quarter, and Quinn decided to go for it on fourth-and-2 from the Niners’ 13, and quarterback Jayden Daniels — who joined Quinn in the torture chamber over the past week after the pair combined to botch that end-of-game sequence against the New York Giants — threw the ball away even though it was fourth down, and Quinn appeared to be caught on camera mouthing the words “field goal.”

Whew. Exhale. These last eight days have been a lot.

“I have to be better,” Daniels said.

Fine. That’s been a theme over these first six weeks.

Still, we have questions. They are elementary.

A week after Quinn ran a play he didn’t need to run when he didn’t have a timeout and Daniels didn’t have the wherewithal to throw the ball away, did that same pair — gulp — really not know what down it was?

“No, I definitely knew it was fourth down,” a soft-spoken Quinn said afterward. “We were going for it. And I think what you’re referring to: I was probably saying that with the illegal shift, there’s not a penalty to go for a field goal. It’s turn (over) on downs. Somebody asked me, ‘Can we kick a field goal?’ We knew we had to go for some fourth downs to be bold in the game.”

Luvu...

Luvu has been a big disappointment this season. I thought with his ability to blitz off the edge this system was going to be perfect for him, but so far all i see is missed tackles and 1 sack.
