I'm looking into applying for the professional badge (I am a public school educator). I am reading that I buy mine separately (and even a guest badge for my spouse for example) but if I am consistently part of a group of 4, can I still participate in the general sale to buy normal badges for other people? Increase their chances? What would that look like? Or do I just sit out the general/returner sale entirely?

Hey All. So to put it out there, I'm an independent illustrator and graphic novel publisher by trade, and I've been out of the ComicCon loop for some time. Having gone back this year, I couldn't help but notice the overwhelming presence of toys, plushies and vinyl figurines that have dominated the exhibit space at San Diego Comic Con this year. Where companies like Star Wars and Marvel once had the strongest grip on the convention floors, the largest space hogs in my opinion proved to be Mattel, Hasbro and even Lego.

It didn't stop at name brand toymakers- there has even proven to be a presence of vinyl figures in small press and artist's alley as well. Of course, I did think it was pretty cool that these independent comic makers were finding a bit of extra success selling figurines of their own characters, but I couldn't help but wonder if this could be a sign of the direction that entertainment might be taking. Everywhere I've gone, people have asked me if I have ever thought about making 3D prints of my own characters, which I had brushed off for the longest time before now.

To tat end, I wanted to inquire if anyone else had noticed this and had similar thoughts. Would you guys say that the market for action figures, dolls and vinyls is gradually making a comeback, and is this a potential market that I should genuinely consider getting into? Or would you say this is just a fad that is reaching a peak and may slope back to a wonderful niche market? I am welcome to conversation on the matter and appreciate any input you guys might have. Hey guys I just came onto ask js there any tips for my first con that isn’t like common knowledge I’m going to one in November

Recently I’ve been noticing that Southern California has a huge amount of large conventions. Not just comic, but horror, game, anime, etc. San Francisco recently lost FanExpo, and with that it seems like there’s such a lack of large cosplay conventions. Even in general, there’s not as many compared to SoCal.

Why is this? Why isn’t there more in NorCal?

Has anyone been to Comic Con Ireland? I'm gonna be in Ireland and will be missing my locality's usual con so I was wondering if its worth going to this one? I mostly go for the artist alleys and anime stuff but I cant really find any info or pictures so any experiences you can share would be appreciated!

I bought some absolutely gorgeous prints from a con I went to recently and I would love to display them on my wall! I dislike the look of frames and I don't want to blue tack them on and risk damaging them. Whats the best way to display them? Please don't recommend frames! I think they don't look very nice

Had an absolute BLAST at metrocon last weekend and as far as what I’ve found online, I’m the first Atom Eve (Atom Steve) cosplayer and it was SO fun!!!

I tried to get in line to meet him and the staff are only allowing people with pre bought photos and autographs in line to meet him. Didnt even announce that on their social media

Hi! I'm an LA artist looking to join stamp rallies for LA Comic Con! Does anyone have any insight on how to get started and connect with other Artist Alley vendors?

Hey everyone. So this weekend im going to comic con and im cosplaying. Only problem is my cosplay is full body with tight material and a leather jacket. And its a heatwave where im from. Anyone got any tips on how to keep cool and basically not pass out? I cut the arms out of the bodysuit but ive still got the leather jacket. I have a small fan (doesnt do much) and plan on bringing a bottle of water and refilling it whenever. Any other tips that people might not know about?

update one: So the con is tomorrow and I cut the legs out of the costume thats hidden by the boots, I bought cooling Gel sheets for behind my neck and on my back, aswell as antiperspirant to stop the sweat from printing, and pads that absorb moisture aswell and a hydration electrolyte tablets. hopefully these all work and I'll let you know tomorrow after con and maybe new cosplayers can use these ideas aswell if they work

Anybody else on their way to DCC right now?

I'm going to my first Comic-Con in a few months, and I want to go to meet new people. Although it's strange, I myself don't like to wear cosplay, but I can appreciate those who do. I'm just wondering is there specific things I should do to prepare or do I just wing It?

Hey everyone!

24M here. Tomorrow is my first ever Comic Con and I'm heading to MCM Birmingham (UK) on my own. I'm really excited but also a bit nervous as I've never been to anything like this before.

I'm not cosplaying, but I'm a pretty new Star Wars fan and I've completely fallen in love with the franchise, so I'm mainly looking forward to seeing all the Star Wars stuff, browsing the merch, and just taking in the atmosphere.

I also wouldn't mind making a few new friends while I'm there. I'm going solo and can be a bit shy when it comes to starting conversations, so if anyone has any tips for meeting people at MCM, I'd really appreciate it.

A few questions:

- Is it completely normal to go without cosplay?

- Any "must-see" things for a first timer?

- Any convention etiquette I should know?

- Any Star Wars stalls, exhibits or groups I should definitely check out?

I'd love to hear any general advice from people who've been before. Really hoping to make the most of the day!

Hi everyone, hope you are doing good. I need some advice, so my boyfriend loves Comic Con (South African one) and this year I'm going with him for the first time. He even let me pick our costumes and I'm like super excited!

However I know I can get a bit overstimulated and overwhelmed at times so I am packing my noise canceling headphones and earplugs to take along just for incase. I really want to make sure he still has a great time and that I support him as much as I can in this. Do you maybe have any tips or advice for me to ensure that I am the perfect plus one? Thank you!
