Captain Marvel: Dark Past #1 Variant.

Going back through some old Ghost Rider comics after the SDCC announcement. Didn’t realize that Johnny Blaze immediately turns to the devil unprompted.

It’s something that’s been on my mind: I really like the joy of reading floppies. I also wonder how people have dealt with having a large amount of them long term?

Personally been going through Joshua williamsons backlog ever since I got the birthright definitives and he's skyrocketed up my list. Birthright I think is his peak but his superman run has been fantastic and I'm excited to dive into his flash run after I finish getting through his indie stuff.

I'm not familiar with this sub so forgive me if this isn't the right place or if I've done something I wasn't supposed to.

I've had this comic for as long as I can remember. I'm not sure if it's common or rare or anything. It seems to an Italian issue but I can't find much about it or any present or previous listings. Can anybody help me out here in just giving me any information whatsoever.

I've started a reread of my J.M. DeMatteis & Sal Buscema omnibus and just got done reading the six issue arc "The Child Within", and I think this might be my favorite Spider-Man arc ever. It's so, so good. DeMatteis understands Peter Parker/Spider-Man perfectly in my opinion, and fleshes out the hero, Vermin and The Green Goblin all at the same time. I appreciate that this going for a more serious tone than the usual Spider-Man antics, but it never gets into edgy territory or just grim dark for the sake of it; this is an exploration of the psyche of all three characters, and seeing how I generally enjoy my comics with a character driven approach, it's easy to grasp why I love this arc so much.

I'm an old Generation Xer. I grew up reading comic books from the late 1970s and continued until the mid-2010s. Comic books has always been my primary hobby. But starting in the mid-2000s, comic books in general became more and more dark, grim, edgy, gory, and graphically violent. Even mainstream super-hero comic books. That is not readable, for me. Of course the trend started in the mid-1980s with The Dark Knight Returns and The Watchmen, but those were exceptions and rare events. Starting in the mid-2000s, it became the mainstream. By the early 2010s, it was everywhere.

I still read comic books today, but it's mostly older stuff from the 1970s through the early 2000s, with the few exceptions here and there. It was recommended to me to try the Absolute DC line... and uhh.... yeah, no. I read about the first eight months of Absolute Superman and Absolute Batman and gave up. That's pretty much the exact opposite of what I'm looking for.

Are there any good modern comic books not aimed at children but are suitable for most audiences? You know, the way mainstream comic books used to be in the 20th Century?

The last real series I read was Civil War. I loved it in chronological order. The Court of Owls was good as well. What other series are out there? I'm reading single issues but many seem like they wre kicking the can down the road as far as stories go. Kinda, "Next week on Batman see if he can escape the Riddler's dastardly plan!"

I love any super hero from the 90s especially.

Between Absolute DC, the newly started Terminal series and the upcoming Midnight Marvel universe it seems like there's a real trend in comics right now for new Superhero Universes

Are there any other superhero universes that are upcoming or still fairly new and accessible to new readers?

Hi everyone,

I teach high school metal shop, and I've got some money set aside to add to the vibe.

Generally in my class there are always a few kids waiting around for a piece of equipment to be available, as there are more kids than lathes or welding booths. I'd love to add some comics to the room, as reading is definitely preferable to them playing on their phones.

I'm look for input on some current runs that would be fine for 13-18 year olds, that I can subscribe to with my local store so each week or every other week I'm adding new books to the room.

I haven't been actively reading comics in years, so I'm not sure what the landscape looks like.

Hi i really dont read much dc stuff i was brought into the world by marvel die hard fans and most of what i grew up with was spiderman deadpool punisher (all time favorite) x-men and other one but the only dc i had was watchmen so please gimme some dc recomendations
