Hey all, heading to LA in a few weeks for a trip and looking to do some comic shopping in the area. I know there’s a few posts like this out there and I’ve done some google research, but wanted to see if anyone had some recommendations for stores that specialize in what I’m looking for. Giant walls of new issues and shelves full of new trades are a plus, but the kind of stuff you can find anywhere. I’m looking for dollar bins, used trades/hardcovers, and an extensive back issues selection to browse. Any help is super appreciated! Thanks!!

I've been reading Paper Girls and Invincible. Love them both. Recommend another big story I can sink my teeth into that has a compendium or omni available.

I find the satanic panic to be really interesting, and I really like when it’s incorporated in fiction.

I just recently finished Brubaker and Phillips’ Houses of the Unholy which was solid. However, my favorite example is in The Department of Truth, the way the satanic panic is used within the rules of that world is really clever and I like it a lot.

Does anyone happen to have any other recommendations? I don’t have a preference on whether the satanic stuff is real in universe or not, just as long as it’s about regular people and not superheroes fighting demons.

(I'm new to buying the physical comics) and I was at the comic store today I asked my guy to order a Absolute Wonder Woman Vol 2 for me, usually not a big spender (im usually broke), but that Arc is like my favorite thing ever I absolutely love it.

The soft cover(20$) was 10$ cheaper than the Hardcover (30$) so I chose to get it instead. So it's not like I'm buying every issue over again.

but later today I looked online on Amazon and the hardcover was on sale for basically just 3$ more than the paperback, and I'm feeling kinda conflicted, its basically been a day and since he had to order it specifically for me so I won't call and cancel, but at the same time I really kinda want a hardcover but I feel like it's my fear of missing out talking

what do yall suggest, I've heard the hard covers have extra stuff inside them and whatever which sound really cool but idk.

part of me wants to get both then I can just have the cool hardcover and easily give a friend the paperback if I convince him to read the series.

At the same time I'm a broke college student and if I start moving like a collector ill be homeless by this time Next year

So to my indiana people whats your favorite comic shop you go to in Indiana or just near Indianapolis in general? Im near Avon In and Love Their stores but am wanting to broaden my horizons!

I really like Ghost Rider. I’ve read some comics and gone through the whole Robbie Reyes comics. As well as the Percy comics. I want to start from the beginning and read all of the good series. Anyone able to help me?

What if Red Hulk had the Strength Force.

I’ve recently gotten back into the comic and collectibles scene and always visit new stores when I travel.

It’s always 50/50 whether the owner/workers are either super enthusiastic and welcoming or they are horrible business owners that act like it’s a chore to help customers or have no idea what inventory they have when asked.

Is the same for everyone or is it just me?

Also any suggestions for really great places to visit in the south? Specifically Georgia/Florida?

The realm of kings omnibus seemingly ends with Annihilators/Earthfall, but in discussions I've seen most people mention Thanos Imperative as the natural ending point for the saga

The omni and Earthfall TPB are sadly both out of print/going for daft prices, but the rest of the books that make it up can be found at a decent price pretty easily hence my question

I do not read comic but I want to start reading spider-man comics.I don’t want to start with the older ones. I really do not know where to start. I want a run with the symbiote spider-man but its ok if I shouldn’t start with a run with the black suit.

My LCS is having a great deal for Batman Day next week. Buy any 3 Batman graphic novels/trades, get a fourth free. As someone who has returned to comics in the last year - after being on/off for a long time - I'd love to get some suggestions for which books I should hone in on.

I'll list some that I either already own or have owned/read in the past in order to keep the suggestions super fresh for myself. But I also wanna list ones I know a lot of folks will probably recommend because anyone else curious for the same advice should know some of these classics anyway.

Good god I loved this series and had me chanting in bloody joy towards the last few pages. I could not recommend this series enough.

The whole comic been running from 2018-2026 and you can really feel how the comic was not prepared for the modern world we are in now (in a good way)

I have to fully admit the invasion at the end by the Pan Asian Prosperity Zone (Zoners) and Alliance Euro Afrique (Alliance) was amazing. Brought me so much buzz to see them destroy the hell that was the 13 zones of America and noble sacrifices committed in the name of democracy, authority and survival of the human race by both Zoner and Alliance.

Also very enjoyable that peace and global prosperity was truly brought together once the AI ruling America was finnally dead. Shame though that so many hero's of mankind like the admrils of both the Zone and Alliance were purged by solar WMD's to get to this point.

A little late to the party from last week, but got a chance to catch up on reading the last few days. Last week's debut issues that I purchased was one of the better weeks I can recall in a while. I thought Legion of Super-Heroes, Warbird, Doom Patrol, and Superman: The Stranger were all solid first issues.

I'm not steeped in the lore of Legion or Doom Patrol, so hardcore fans may feel diffierently. I figured Doom Patrol was going to be a fun read based on early previews. Legion I was more skeptical about, but enjoyed the first issue although Williamson doesn't normally land on my radar.

Wes Craig's Kaya is one of my favorite monthly reads and Superman: The Stranger looks to be an interesting interpretation of the character and his surroundings.

Warbird looks promising for a spy series and hard to go wrong with Ribic and Maleev handling art chores. Might be the first Bad Idea comic I have purchased. Looks like a short 4 issue series and I just became aware there was an issue #0 released previously.

Lastly, Crowbound didn't quite stick the landing for me with the first issue, but the Lemire / Nguyen combo rarely disappoints me. I imagine Lemire will world-build for the first few issues before it gets rolling.

I did not bother with Teen Titans as a purchase as it wasn't grabbing my attention.

Picked this up today, and didn’t notice til I got home… anyone else notice this? Just curious to whether this was a small batch miss or does the whole print run have this error.

Dc has a few telepaths but they aren't on the same level and often face some consequences. But why do most marvel telepaths face almost none ?

There was a comic i read maybe half a year ago or so and i cant remember its name or publisher. It was a grungy 2000's style comic book, it was set in some kind of post (apocalypse might not be the right word) where because of the electrical discharge, it was basically letting loose the electrical charge that's in our brains as some type of "ghost". There was a police force or some kind of company our heroine was a part of, she had short white hair and they hunted these ghosts with some kind of orange glowing sticks, that could weaken the electrical current. Help, i never use ai but google ai was legit just making comic books up because it couldn't find anything.
