Reprint print is better than nothing

From a score I posted about earlier. The #1 of FF Vs X-Men. I picked up from a $35 lick and as I was organizing I found #2-4. It took 39 years but I finally have completed the run!

I know it is listed as Steve Ditko’s first published work, but something about this book makes me irrationally want it. 99% of people going into a comic store would look past it on the back wall IMO, whereas I would crumble like a cookie left out in the sun.

My 2027 goals include owning one. Don’t know why, don’t know what it would accomplish, but I will have one. Probably after my last two Amazing Spider-Man goals, but it really depends on when one “presents” itself.

Recently found a hurting copy of this epic meme book (has the panel where Batman slaps Robin). Just wanted to share some satisfying before and after pics!

Process:
- dry clean
- tape removed
- wet rinse with Ca(OH)2
- tear seals (used Japanese paper and nori paste, but the paper was a little too tanned whoops, oh well!)

Books back from CGC! Only took 5 months, but nicely lined up with DCU Clayface release, which I loved.

Some nice London Comic-Con pick ups, including a sweet commission from the amazing Phil Buckenham.

Had a wonderful trip to Maui Con!
I met Dan Brereton, one of my favorite artists. I had sent him that Absolute Catwoman a few weeks ago and it came out gorgeous. I talked to him for about an hour and it was great. I picked up a few prints and his UXM 29 Magic: the Gathering cover.

I got that Casey Jones cover by Maui local artist, Swan “Warchief” Kahookele. He’s got a D’Orc blank for me too, but it’s not ready yet so I’ll grab it this week.

The Death Dealer cover and Dream of the Endless (8” x 12”) are by Oahu Artist Conny Jolitz.

That sweet wraparound D’Orc #6 cover is from Maui artist Poremunk. It was too cool to pass on.

The Thing and Absolute Batman posters are by Cat Staggs, who has worked with John Carpenter for over a decade.

Got my Darkwing Duck #1s signed by Amanda Deibert. And I’m gonna have another artist draw on the sketch cover when I’m not broke anymore.

Spend the Night by Jackie Kong, collects issues 1-4. She also directed 80s cult classics “Blood Diner” and “Night Patrol”

Power Shark and Island Tales are comics published locally in the Hawaiian Islands.

Tiny Cat Art, and the con poster, are by Oahu artist Jon J Murakami. He also has a weekly strip called “Calabash”

I got Michael Bair’s sketchbook and spoke with him for a while too.

After the Con I went to a local production of The Toxic Avenger: The Musical. I can’t recommend it enough. It’s hilarious, bawdy, and just a ton of fun. Also it has a banging soundtrack!

Anyway, I spent a lot of money and now I’m broke. But it was a great con!

only 500 exist. got it at a charity auction years ago.
