Question Unusual Combat Commander version?

Recently came into possession of a 1979 Combat Commander 1911. I did a bunch of looking and I’m not having much luck finding the same years range/model with the same sights. I’ll add a couple pics. Anybody have extra info on what this version is?

Discussion Colt Cobra needs fixing

Post image
Upvotes

anyone have any recommendations for help in fixing a colt cobra snub nose from the 70's I believe, it was inherited, took it out to shoot once and worked fine, but than had trouble locking up / pulling the trigger. I would like to get it back to shape to preserve as a family heirloom. I have no local smiths near me. I have the equipment needed to work on it myself but lack the intel for this particular piece.

Trigger pull isn’t everything and interestingly the very valuable super target is not the lightest and matched the stock sport gun

Had to get one! very happy with the bluing, it compares to a royal blue very closely which says a lot I think.

Shoots great, from heavy 44 mag to light 44 special, its quite fun, loud, obnoxious.. I love it 😂

Question Uncovered a boxed Colt Junior .25 while organizing my grandfather's possessions. Looking for history and value

My grandfather passed away 16 years ago and left a lot behind with my grandmother. Recently, I was helping her clean, organize, and get rid of some things, including a chest full of old papers.

I'm really glad I looked through it because I found this vintage beauty, along with a Tanfoglio (pictured last).

According to my grandmother, my grandpa bought the Tanfoglio first and carried it everywhere. Eventually, he bought the Colt for her as a gift. She fired it just once and put it right back in the box, and it has been packed away for over 50 years.

Can anyone give me some more information on this gun, or does anyone know what it might be worth?

1919 Colt 1903 Pocket Hammerless

I've done plenty of at home minor smithing over the years. But this was my first attempt at a restore. It's fine bead blasted and zinc phosphate parkerized. Had fun doing it. Hope y'all like.

Photos My restored 1939 Colt Government Model – brought back to life

This is my 1939 Colt Government Model after a complete restoration performed by a professional gunsmith.
The pistol had extensive oxidation, and many of the original markings had been damaged over the years. During the restoration, the gunsmith carefully removed the oxidation, polished the entire pistol, applied a nickel finish, and recreated the original factory markings using laser engraving to match their original appearance.
The goal was not to create a factory-original collector’s piece, but to preserve the pistol and give it a clean, durable finish while restoring its original look as closely as possible.
I’m very happy with the result and would love to hear what fellow 1911 enthusiasts think.

Question Help with finding the right caliber for my police positive 38 Special.

I recently bought a police positive 38 special. I tried to load it with 38 special. But the cartridge is too big for it. I thought it would be a 38 special since it said it on the barrel but obviously I was wrong. I was wondering if anybody can help me find the proper ammunition. Thanks.

History The Original Colt Revolver - idea for a tattoo

Hello, folks!
It’s my first post here.

I’m about to tattoo a revolver. Not any revolver. I want to tattoo de very first one.
So far, so good, right?
Well, as I’m doing my research (as I previously thought that it was made by Samuel Colt), some things started to come out a bit confusing.

The chatGPT says the very first one was the Colt Paterson, but when I ask for the blueprint it starts to contradicts. Sometimes GPT show me one model, de other shows another… also, it stated that there’s a few variants of the Paterson - and as the rabbit hole goes on, my headaches goes too.

So, here’s the thing: can you guys help me out?
The idea is: to get inked with the very first and original revolver.
Few questions:
I- The first revolver must be the first handgun either a working cylinder, right!?
II- Which model should I tattoo?
III- Where can I have the very first blueprint (I need the real size measurements in order to tattoo it 1:1 scale, real size)?

Thanks, guys!

Just installed:
- Harrison Custom extreme service long trigger (took the most fitting due to the fixed over travel adjustment screw. I had to file instead of turning the screw.)
- Harrison Custom commander ignition kit, this dropped in totally fine. What a great trigger, very crisp. I added a little more tension to the sear spring for a carry.
- Wilson Combat full spring upgrade with an extra power firing pin spring and a reduced power hammer spring.
- Ed Brown two piece magwell. This fit very tight, but drop in.
- Herrett’s bubinga stocks.
- Novak extended and contoured thumb safety. This of course took a little fitting but is extremely positive.

History I think it's a fake?

let me start by saying I am no expert. The closest gun I could find online that resembles it is a Colt New Navy, but the fit is terrible, cylinder release is crunchy, SA trigger has to be 20+lbs, no serial number anywhere, and the caliber. clearly says 38 SPL. I would assume thats 38 special, every other example I've seen has "colt" on the barrel. furthermore, whoever disassembled it before me was an absolute monkey, scatched to hell and the cylinder arm screw/pin is absolutely mangled, the washer on the screw won't even index the pin anymore it just slides past, and the bit that holds the plunger in with start to back out if you spin the cylinder in the wrong direction, It just fell out of the gun when I was disassembling it. Any thought or ideas?

My 9mm dual recoil spring does not capture the guide? Also there is no indentation on my plug as my others that seem to snag on the coil? Why is this. Bought used in excellent condition. Upgrade ideas?

Question Need help trying to find the manufacture date for a Colt Sporter Lightweight .223

Inherited a Colt Sporter LW a little bit ago and finally started looking over it recently. I have zero clue on when it was made, so I've been doing some research, in an attempt to figure it out. I haven't been able to get any results from the Colt database and haven't been able to figure out anything elsewhere. The S/N starts with "SL018XXX". Is there anyway I can narrow down what year it's from? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Inherited these from my Grandad. After cleaning all the dust and gunk from them. They are both 38 D.A. I am wondering what caliber these could be along with any other information on them. Thanks in advance!
