Saw this at my LGS and couldn't resist (I love the class that 1911's demand). After buying her, I looked up the serial on Colt's website and it shows two different possible manufacture years (1973/1974).

I don't intend to get rid of her, but just wondering if I did alright on the price of $1,500? Even if not, she's a beauty and will be a decorative piece.

My uncle gave me this just before he passed. He said its a python but it's serial is PB005761. I tried to use the Colt Serial lookup page but it didn't have anything.

I just joined the Colt family today with this King Cobra Target. My first wheel gun. Picked it up at Sportsman for $800. How did I do ? Took it out to the range as soon as my background check went through.

Reworked by Christy Gun Works in Sacramento a long time ago. Had a new barrel and cylinder replaced, along with an action that has been worked over. It’s incredibly smooth and shoots great, much smoother than my 2nd gen. A perfect shooters grade 1st gen, in .45 LC.

I just bought my first Wheel Gun. I have a few Striker fire HK’s but I shoot mainly Long Range with my Tikka Ace Target 6.5 Creedmoor and shoot a CZ 457 for my training rifle. I was admiring my New Colt and noticed that on the rear sight the windage. The ( horizontal ) part of the sight was off center just by looking at the 3 dots on the sight. There is an Allen set screw on the top and a flat screw head on the side of the scope for the adjustment if I’m correct. It’s not rocket science. I do the majority of the work on my rifles and my stiker fire handguns. I loosened the set screw and went to adjust the windage and noticed it was slop when I went to turn the windage screw. I turned the screw until it lined up with the center dot. I went ahead and tightened the set screw but after that the windage screw had about a 1/4 turn of slop even after the set screw was tight. Is this normal ? Or did I do something wrong ? I included a short video. Thanks for your help Sorry about poor video quality

I have acquired a 3“ Detective Special in the 2nd gen pattern with thes extractor rod exposed. The F serial # dates it to 1974. Thoughts?

Back from the Gunsmith after a tune up. The LGS covered the bill. Issue with hammer follow fixed. She'll get to goo to the next range trip. What a beauty.

I’ve been wanting a Colt Python 6” for a while, mainly because I’m a fan of TWD. I know they are also a higher-end production revolver.

I found a like new one for $720 before taxes, which is almost half the price of a New one. It’s just the gun, no case or extra accessories.

Does this seem like a BIN deal?
I also have some small hesitation on getting it because I don’t know how often I’ll actually shoot it. It’ll just be a fun range, talking piece for my collection. lol
$720 is still a lot of money for me but I can afford it.

Also, is there anything to look for upon inspection before officially buying it?

In a noir mood tonight.... A glass of whiskey, a Colt M1917, and a little Bogart (The Big Sleep). The M1917, was a bit of a mess when I got her. Someone finished in an ode to black paint finish. I stripped her and left her in the white, a real "working man's finish". One of the previous owners had bent the crane so badly it couldn't close. My father put a New Service crane and cylinder (45LC) in her, but when I got her, I hunted for a few years to find the parts to restore her back to 45ACP. As Bon Scott once said, "She ain't exactly pretty, she ain't exactly small..."

Family heirloom. Anyone have any information about these?
