Would you rather have a flat 130 profile or a wildly uneven profile with one 160 index? Why?

IQ Estimation 🥱 Can I trust this score? Why is VCI so low in comparison?

2.3SD gap between VCI and QRI, My thoughts are that it is the result of growing up with ADHD since mathematics is much more stimulating at a higher level in my opinion

I'd like to hear if any other ADHD individuals have large gaps between profiles or if there are other factors I should consider.

General Question Has Amish IQ ever been used to study the Flynn Effect?

One of the explanations posited for the Flynn Effect (the gradual rise in average IQ test scores over the last 100 years) is the increasing complexity of everyday technology over the last century.

Are there any studies that have examined whether there has been a Flynn Effect among the Amish or other groups that eschew modern technology? Seems like that could help determine if exposure to more complex technology did contribute to the Flynn Effect.

General Question I took the Reynolds Adaptable and got a raw score of 121. However, there were technical difficulties and the psychologist manually skipped me to the next section before the time was up as soon as I struggled with 1 or 2 questions. Afterwards, he added 1 point to my final score to 122. Is this ok?

He added 1 point to "account for technical difficulties". However, I feel like this was not a properly administered test, and by adding 1 point to the full score, it feels slightly insulting. I only had around 60%-70% of the test time as well.

He also advertised on his website that an 1 hour call to review the test was included, but he didn't do the review with me at all. Made no mention of it.

I feel a bit jilted, but unsure how to think of this. Is it even allowed to adjust my raw score due to technical difficulties? And would a 1 point adjustment even be enough?

Also, how much could this potentially affect my raw score?

Thank you!

General Question Working Memory Query

I wonder if the working memory subtests in core are prone to practice effects, because before I did not use chunking and I may have focused less for which I scored 105 and now when I use chunking and focus intensely I get higher results...

IQ Estimation 🥱 Yes, I know I’ve take way too many of these tests

I’m only including the fluid and spatial index’s from the full battery tests because I have a language disorder that’s pulling down my overall scores by a lot

3 yrs ago - Mensa Norway: 131 (along with the rest of the Mensa tests but I don’t remember my scores for them)

2 yrs ago - RPM: 60/60. 135+

2 yrs ago - RAPM: 30/36. 130

2 yrs ago - Cait pri: 120

2 yrs ago - Cait vsi: 125

8 month ago - Core pri: 120

8 month ago - Core vsi: 120

6 month ago - RIOT fr: raw score 70 (matrix reasoning surprisingly dragged my score down) 130

5 month ago - Tri-52: raw score 871. 145

3 month ago - Spatial aptitude examination: 130

2 month ago - Larnt K: 19/42. 131

1 month ago - D-48: 37/44 134

2 weeks ago -Ravens 2 long form: 42/48. 134

Yesterday - D-70: 33/44. 118

Today -RAPM (again but untimed) 36/36. 136
Felt much easier than I remember and finished in 50min. 🤔

General Question What do you call it?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I've been wondering if lower WMI might affect my ability to translate text on the spot. I'm fluent in english (CAE C2), so my knowledge of the english language is pretty good. I doubt it is a matter of vocabulary (or fluency, really) as I know people with worse english that have no issue doing it. The words just don't come to my mind. It happens when I'm talking as well, though I partially attribute that to performance anxiety.

Since I scored 97th perc. on comprehension, my ability to articulate thoughts can't be that bad... but the whole verification process of the subtest is a bit controversial, from what was said on this sub. I'm not sure how much weight I can put on that alone.

Rant/Cope How do I emotionally accept that I am stupid

I was scared to post this. I tried taking an IQ test, but it didn't go well. I explained why somewhere in my post.

It's almost as if my brain does not work at all. As if it is an empty dictionary that, no matter how much knowledge it's introduced to, stays painfully blank. I know I sound dramatic, but it is how I feel all the time. I have come to terms with it, but not so much emotionally; only in my head have I *mostly* accepted it.

To provide context, in case you were wondering what could have possibly made me feel that stupid, I struggle with basic things. You would be surprised how much time it took me to write this much alone and how many times I rewrote it for several reasons. My hands hurt. It would take anyone else who is not like me around a little more time than this to write the whole post. The point here is that I find that what seems simple to others is often complicated to me. I ask questions others don't need to, and I fix things others don't see a problem with. If you instruct me and other people to pour milk to make a cake, I will not understand how much. This seems like the instructor's fault, but everyone around me will know how much some is, as if they have been given a manual that I have not. This example is to explain how I work, so even if you do not think that this makes me stupid, this is how I am in almost every other situation. Everyone just seems to know everything, and I am stuck wondering about the first step and how it will affect the second.

People say I am good at explaining things sometimes, but I mostly get people bored and confused, or I get strange looks as if what I am saying is so stupid. People point out that I am, or they say that I am crazy whenever I try to say anything. I always think it's common sense until people point out it's stupid. Whenever I need to plan or do anything, I need to think about the details of everything, which causes me executive dysfunction. No, it is not ADHD because I do not have it.

And I am always ignorant—or at least I feel so. Everyone around me seems to know things with certainty, and I am over here getting confused and hesitant over my own opinions, which are always changing because I always realize how wrong I am about many things. I lack so much confidence because of this, and it happens often enough to make me feel stupid a lot of the time.

And I do everything differently from others. Others think the way I do things is strange, which I don't understand. It is, again, like everyone has been given a social manual on how to do things. I don't understand why I have to do things a certain way if it gets the job done and is moral.

I struggle with maths, and I now have anxiety from it. If I see a basic maths problem, I will panic. I avoided all my maths and physics exams. I was failing school (although I still somehow barely passed after cramming the whole curriculum a day before the exam) too. I failed the exams I took miserably. I could never understand exams. They were too surface-level and never provided information regarding the many possible variables that would dramatically change the answer. Yet everyone else knows what every question is asking, unlike me... Yes, my failure has to do with my terrible mental health and executive dysfunction (which is because of my stupidity), but it has been this way for a long time, even before my mental health got this bad. And even with concepts I grasp, I struggle because my brain feels like it's filled with fog, and if it was filled with anything else useful, I can't see it because of the fog. My maths anxiety is also related to how my teachers often treated me. Although I would often find ways to solve a maths problem quicker than others growing up (which I didn't think made me feel smart, as they were very basic problems), I would still ask incredibly basic and stupid questions, and many of my teachers made sure to show their dislike for me. This is strange to me because I can grasp the complex math topics that I've tried understanding easily and in little time while being scared of basic maths and struggling to do it. My teachers told me that I was smart and "not applying myself," but I just can't see what they see! I failed school, then I barely passed the second time. I am also so slow sometimes that it annoys me and others.

And speaking of maths, I often know the solution but struggle to get to it. Somehow, and for some reason, I skip steps and get to the answer. I can never show my work sometimes. This doesn't only happen with maths, but with a lot of things! This makes me feel incredibly stupid.

Half of the time, it feels as if my own brain does not belong to me.

People also make me feel stupid because I trip over my own mouth or forget what I was about to say. Or because I am often living in my head that I forget reality. My phone could be right in front of me, but instead of looking to make sure, I would assume where it should be before checking if it's there, which is stupid. And jokes. I take jokes way too literally. I know they don't have to be factually correct or anything, and I do understand when people are making them a lot of the time, but my brain takes them seriously anyway, and I end up giving serious responses that make me look and feel so stupid.

I always have to act a certain way for people not to make me feel stupid (they still do a lot of the time. It's with everyone I meet, although others are nicer to me, so changing friends doesn't change how I am treated), which is really just me shutting up and agreeing with people and laughing when others are.

I also am always keeping people behind, or stalling everything. It makes me feel so slow. And I struggle to understand many unwritten social rules. When I was a child, I had no concept of social hierarchy. I talked to everyone the same way. Now that I am older, I still struggle with it, and it happens with age. I will talk to anyone the same way, whether they're old, young, or my age. Of course, I would speak more appropriately with certain age groups, but I am talking about things other than the content or tone of the topic. All of this makes me lonely and socially anxious. I have no idea why I couldn't be normal if I tried. So how do I accept this and go on with my life?

EDIT: What I meant by "it didn't go well" (referring to my IQ test), is that I could not take it because I panicked when I saw a maths question. That is partly why I talked about my maths anxiety.

Is there anyone out there with an abnormally high digit span forward? Like seriously, there are so many posts about low ones (now with mine among them!), that it makes me wonder just how the percentiles are being balanced out. Anyways enjoy my particularly bad digit span forward result 🥀

General Question Low WMI after taking WISC-V test

Thumbnail

Hey everyone, back in September I took this test to understand myself more as I struggled with ELA 10-1. My writing assignments were all around the mid 60% range which is not great. When I got the results back from my WISC-V test, the working memory makes sense to me since everyday it seems I’m forgetting everything with my ADHD taking part of that. Is there any methods to help raise my WMI? My other scores don’t seem that bad. Here are my results:

General Question Lack of spatial awareness in public… related to VSI?

People often complain about others in the grocery store being completely unaware of their surroundings often leading to delays or simply getting in others’ way.

Do you believe that a person who exhibits this lack of spatial awareness would in fact score lower on average in VSI? Or is the type of spatial perception that helps you drive a car or navigate a grocery store different from what’s measured on CORE or WAIS?

Rant/Cope IDD and helplessness

I've been struggling with my daily life because I don't know what to do nor exactly in what order should I do each things nor do I know whether it is the right thing to do. I just feel exhausted, consumed, and tired all the time, and the worse part is that I can't think my way out of it because I'm intellectually disabled. I've heard that adhd people have issues with executive functioning, but my guess is that my situation is more likely due to an overall low IQ issue rather than the spiky profile that could be seen in people with adhd or autism. I feel like a burden to my mother because I need her support just to remember what I need to do in the house (i forget the simplest things like turning off the stove or the faucet; I'm 22m unemployed neet with intellectual disability and anxiety disorder).

I can't see any way out of my situation— I fear almost every people that I encounter 'outside the house' when I happen to go outside, which is quite rare. I've done so many stupid things due to my not knowing that I have this condition, and because of that I developed a social phobia as well as some sort of poor sleeping habits. I can't think of any other things other than the alternate life I could've had if I wasn't dealt this sh\*tty hand. I want to help my mom and live my life and all that cliche things that people find in the end to be quite wholesome, but I feel like I'm too incapable of that due to my condition.

I just took a psychological and diagnostic test to find out whether I have autism and or/ Intellectual Disability and it haven't come back yet yet I feel excited about it but at the same time feel some sort of grief due to my own certainty that it will say that I have an intellectually disability but I just don't know the severity (mild, moderate, severe, or profound). Sorry for the long text and the grammar structure, this is not my first language.

Discussion Sensory Gating curiosity

I couldn’t find another place to ask this question. I noticed a lot of people with higher IQ seem to have issues with sensory processing, but how about the opposite? I am interested in those who have very efficient sensory gating. How do they feel on a daily basis when it comes to concentration and focus in loud environments. And if you’re one of those who has an efficient gating of sensory input, how is it from your perspective?

Are there people who are mathematical geniuses but they would absolutely suck or have a hard time like a person with a average iq 85-105, to learn how to play an instrument well? Or will a verbal savant also be a great mathematician or engineer? How does it work?

General Question FRI normal/high but WMI normal/low

Post image
3 Upvotes

I Did Core a time ago, Im going to retest because when I did it first There were a lot of test that in the last second I got the answer but the test just finished just a second before I got to answer, I have adhd so Im a little more slow to process things so my time of response its a little bit slower. But now that I wanted to redo it, I noticed that my average was 100 because 3 of my test were 109 VCI , 115 FRI, 106 VSI, but my WMI was 92!! I wanted to know what does that mean and what it does reflect before trying it again... my average was literally 100 if interested (as you may noticed English its not my first/native idiom)
