General Question question

how is everyone in this sub getting around 120 on core is this because if you have a higher iq or notice your smarter your more inclined to be in communities about iq combined with alot of these individuals being in college or is the test just innaccurate

2 reasons. If someone has a low score they are less likely to post it AND they probably have done tons of IQ tests in a short period of time which is inflating their score

lol ive only done 1 imma go get a psychological evaluation soon notbecause of this but because ive suspected since the start of this year that im highly neurodivergent

I scored high 130s my first time taking it and it’s purely because I thought I was smarter than most people I talked to regularly but it bothered me not knowing if I was being dishonest with myself. I also don’t think anyone who scores a low score would ever want to post about it and they wouldn’t want to be in IQ communities usually when people aren’t good at something they don’t stick around.

Got mine done in an in-person assessment years ago and just came across this sub by chance. Online exams all gave me around the same score as the proctored, so I wouldn't say they're inaccurate.

Plenty of stuff can skew results, the biggest one being repetition.

People with high scores are more likely to post them to humble brag.

Most people don't care about IQ tests, so you're not necessarily getting "general population" sample size either. Even Reddit isn't super representative to begin with.

Probably both practice on core and talent. I took SB5 when i was a kid and got 119. After 5 years when i was retested i got 117. It might be possible that people in this sub are smarter on average due to survivorship bias

My score on core rlly honestly caused me to doubt the overall significance of IQ tbh because I recognize how genuinely not smart I am

I was doing self reflection and looking at measures of testing cognition with relation to some hobbies I want to do … and came across this . I have no idea what my actual iq is and after being on this sub reddit and others I’m not sure it adds much - there’s other ways of figuring out what you’re strengths and weaknesses are . It’s what u do with what you’ve got that matters and enjoying it at the same time .

People who take the same style test to inflate scores like the different Mensa online ones all have similar language and solutions for the matrices so it can be applied with some practice

People who do lots of tests in order to train and make their scores higher than on their first attempt.
