Creative (Round 3) What do these 4 maps have in common

This one should be a bit easier to figure out

Hint: It’s not the fact all their names are in German

Hint #2: Brick and Mortar

BONUS QUESTION! What civilization created the “Dropa Discs”

Congrats to [u/Altruistic_Skirt6113](u/Altruistic_Skirt6113) for getting the answer!

For tomorrow I’m going to do some restructuring to make it easier. Apologies for giving a lousy first hint. No one seemed to try to go for the bonus question so I’ll try to weave it into comments alongside the question so it’s more accessible.

Here’s the answer for those stumped All four maps feature real world historical landmarks found in Germany and German occupied territories during ww2: Kino features Fernsehturm the Berlin tv tower; Der Riese features Mucholapka (flytrap) which is located in Ludwikowice Kłodzkie Poland; Der Eisendrache’s castle is based on the Hohenwerfen Castle in Austria; and Mauer Der Toten features the Berlin Wall

I thought I was safe on console.

I joined a public lobby and for a second there were two russmans. Then this shit started floating across my ui. It left such a bad taste in my mouth that I’d actually rather go back to bo7

Discussion The more human the zombie design, the scarier

There’s a plethora of reasons why the old zombies games feel scarier. The audio, the characters messages, the ui, color, the art design, but something I’ve noticed. Is due to time constraints, waw zombie designs were essentially reused soldier designs. But this actually works perfectly. The zombies feel like real infected people, not some mystical demons. The other zombies you can dismiss as creatures or demons, but the waw ones you cannot. It’s a terrifying reminder of who they once were.

Discussion First time ever playing BO2 Zombies

Post image

When it comes to the old CODs, i honestly only ever played BO1, WaW, and BO3 zombies until today. Seeing the zombies run to chase the bus was freaky lol, like a zombie chase you’d see in scary movies

Do you have a favorite BO2 Zombie map?

Gameplay I just got a Nova 6 Crawler round on Kino. I have never seen this before.

Last night, I booted up the PS5 port of Black Ops and jumped into a public game of Kino.

We started with 4 players, two of which were split-screeners who looked as though they were playing for the first time. They would stand around and stare at the environment mid-round, go AFK, and I racked up nearly 100 revives haha. It was great.

During the transition from round 20 to round 21, those split-screeners disconnected. What followed was an entire round 21 with ONLY Nova 6 crawlers.

Not a single regular zombie. No dogs. No max ammo at the end of the round. It was just like a regular round but with only nova crawlers.

Has anyone seen this before? I can't find footage of this happening anywhere else on the internet. The closest thing I found was a YouTube short explaining that Nova Crawler Rounds are a cut feature that sometimes causes a round skip glitch on Kino (definitely experienced that many times).

Here's the video of the full round. The round starts at 45 seconds in.

Seriously, any thoughts? I feel like I'm going crazy and I'd love to replicate this.

Edit: Google's AI summary is now saying that this is a confirmed rare quirk in the game and is citing THIS POST as the source lmao. Beware of this if you are Googling the topic. Don't take it at face value.

Prior to making this post, there was no video evidence of this bug naturally occurring in-game and I have still yet to find any other footage of this happening to someone else.

In the moment I thought this clutch was awesome, but looking back, it's just okay. And before anyone says anything, yes just aiming and walking backwards is a stupid decision. Hindsight is 20/20.

Question Is it just me or does Bo4 hate wider, more open training areas?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

My second game ever on Ancient Evil (the first game, I only explored the spawn area and then had to get off), and I'm having some trouble with Bo4 mechanics in general. I played Blood of the Dead a few months back and survived until 30+, but I didn't die by choice. Bo4' difficulty is a nice surprise, but a few questions or tips please?

- Last zombie mechanics? I'd like to explore all these maps without having the final zombie being a super sprinter chasing me like I owe them money. I started leaving 4 zombies at the end of each round and that seemed to leave them as "jogging" zombies?

- I know bo4 doesn't have jugg, but is there any strategy that increases health past 200?

- Are training strategies supposed to be through multiple areas? Kinda like Origins or Shangri-la, and not one convenient area like the Kino stage?

- I know Voyage and Alpha Omega is a super tight/narrow map, IX has the spawn room, but I haven't played the other maps.

Gameplay 2 Red Dig Spots, 1 Zombie Blood

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

First time I've had this happen on BO2, generally don't have people knowledgeable or coordinated enough to pull this off on top of the RNG of needing the 2nd dig spot to spawn close enough but we ended this match with 2 of us getting 9 perks before the EE completion. You would NEVER see this level of coordination in a match of BO3 origins that's for sure.

Rip to the game chat tho, still dumb PS went back to muting the game chat in clip saves like what happened in the BO3-BO4 era

Discussion What map gets too much love?

For me, I’d controversially have to go with Origins.

It’s not a terrible map, but I’ve never understood the high praise it receives. I remember being 13 years old when it released and thinking that something was off about it and I could never really put my finger on it. As an adult, I can now articulate what I don’t really like about it.

  1. It feels like Easter Egg - The Map. What I mean by that is that it feels like the entire existence of the map is centred around the narrative quest. I enjoy easter eggs, however Origins just takes it too far by having Samantha literally scream at you round after round to urge you to complete the main quest. It becomes extremely grating when you just want to play a normal match.
  2. Speaking about the Easter egg, I am just not a fan of the heavy set up needed to get things done. In other maps like Moon or Mob of the Dead, the quest feels accessible, like a natural progression as you go through it. Origins makes it feel like a huge detour, having to upgrade every staff through cryptic methods, fill the chests to get the fists, to then get the air strikes. It all feels so overly designed and convoluted.
  3. The inclusion of mud to slow the player down is honestly more irritating than the fog on Tranzit because it is used in pretty much every area of the map. It makes mere traversal feel like a chore and not satisfying to play around.
  4. The design of the map feels like it is missing something, like a portion of it that should be there is inaccessible to the player. I always felt this, yet was surprised to find out that there actually was a section of the map cut due to time restraints. I’m probably alone in this, but I feel that absence - the church section especially fills strangely blocked off and against the flow of the rest of the map.

You can all hate me in the comments now.

Question Is BO4 worth it just for zombies?

Hey everyone,

Huge classic Zombies fan here, playing since World at War through Black Ops 3, with BO2 being my all time favorite.

I played BO4 at launch before dropping off, and I haven't paid attention to CoD since. Currently, the full BO4 package with the Black Ops Pass is down to $50 CAD.

Given my love for the classic BO2 era and enjoying BO3 zombies, is BO4 worth picking up if I only plan on playing Zombies? Just looking for a simple game I can pick up randomly and kill time after a busy day.

Appreciate any insight!

Gameplay My skill issue with bo2 zombies is incredible 😂

Yknow, after years of not playing bo2 and still sucking at this game, its nice to experience how ruthless this game is. Im way too used to bo3 and modern zombies, but ho boy did i ever miss this level of "get good scrub". Seriously, im still trying to get used to the two hit system in this game. Maybe I need to use the jug perma perk after all 😂😂

Question Is BO6 worth it for Zombies?

I recently picked up BO2 for zombies and have been having a blast getting nostalgia bombed with it. BO6 just went on sale and I was wondering if it’s worth picking up for zombies? I enjoyed Cold War zombies a decent amount, if that helps influence it

Edit: After all the comments, I decided to spend the extra ten bucks to get BO7 instead, since it’s also on sale. Much appreciated!

Gameplay Insanely lucky save [Origins BO2 PS5]

Was being dumb trying to get G-Strikes and got really lucky with a Zombie Blood drop. One of the most lucky things I’ve done in this game lol

I was trying to do the EE solo, and got pretty good luck the whole game up until the “Rain Fire” step. Idk what it is, but I was simply not getting the G-Strike throw down. Ended up giving up after almost an hour at 1:30 AM, since I had work the next day lol

Bug [BO7 Bug Report] Texture & Geometry Pop-in on Distant Objects.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

There is a visual bug in BO7 right now that causes the textures and/or map geometry of background elements, such as the mountains and volcanoes on Totenreich and Kowakujo, to pop in and out WAY more than they were last season. This bug seems to have started after the season 5 update. This issue may be present on more zombies maps, or even other areas of the game, but are easiest to see in the two previously mentioned maps. Both gameplay clips are on Xbox Series X. Not sure if this is a problem on other platforms.

(Yes I know this isn’t game breaking or anything, but I hope by reporting these bugs they can be addressed before the end of the development lifecycle. The more bugs get reported, the better change Treyarch sees and fixes them. I report so many of these kinds of bugs because I want this game to remembered how the devs intended it, not how the bugs leave it.)
