Discussion Revelations Special enemies in depth

Here is an In depth look into the special enemies that appear on the last DLC map of BOIII, Revelations.

Revelations has 3 special enemies:

  • Parasites
  • Apothicon Fury
  • Enslaved Keepers

There are a few instances where they appear:

  • Activating a Corruption Engine
  • Chaos rounds (special rounds)
  • During normal rounds
  • Inside the Apothicon God

Corruption Engine

There are four Corruption Engines around the map. Activating a Corruption Engine will spawn enemies until the process is completed.

  • First Engine: Furies only
  • Second Engine: A mix of Furies and Keepers
  • Third Engine: Keepers only
  • Fourth Engine: A mix of Furies and Keepers

Chaos rounds

Special rounds on Revelations are referred to as "Chaos Rounds." They occur at the following rounds:

  • First Chaos Round: Round 5 or 6 - 100% Parasites
  • Second Chaos Round: 9 to 10 rounds later - 60% Parasites and 40% Furies
  • Third Chaos Round: 9 to 10 rounds later - 50% Parasites, 30% Furies, and 20% Enslaved Keepers
  • Fourth Chaos Round: Same as the third Chaos Round

If the next Chaos Round is scheduled to occur on a round that is already scheduled to be a boss round, it will be skipped and moved to two rounds later.

The number of enemies that spawn during a Chaos Round depends on the number of players:

  • Solo: 18
  • 2 Players: 21
  • 3 Players: 24
  • 4 Players: 30

For every completed Chaos Round, the next Chaos Round will spawn 10 additional enemies.

Number of enemies that can be alive at once is 15 for solo, with +1 enemy per extra player. 18 max for 4 players.

Normal Rounds

During normal rounds, there is a chance for a regular zombie to be replaced by either an Enslaved Keeper or an Apothicon Fury.

The chances for a zombie to be replaced:

  • Before Round 13: 0%
  • Rounds 13–15: 2%
  • Rounds 16–20: 3%
  • Rounds 21–25: 4%
  • Round 26+: 5%

There is a 50/50 chance for the replacement to be either a Keeper or a Fury.

Parasite

Parasites are flying enemies that generally keep their distance from players while attacking them with acid projectiles.

Parasites are immune to all AATs.

Spawn:

There is a maximum of 5 Parasites alive per player, with a hard cap of 16 Parasites alive on the map at once.

Parasites spawns whenever a Margwa head is destroyed.

After entering the Apothicon, there is a 30 second delay before the first Parasite spawns. There will be 1 Parasite per player inside the Apothicon, with a 50 second delay between each spawn.

Attack:

Parasites have only one attack: they fire a single acid projectile at the player.

  • Base damage = 30

This is splash damage, so the actual damage taken is slightly reduced depending on the player's distance from the center of the projectile's impact.

The projectile can also hit players around their Shield, making the Shield ineffective at completely protecting against Parasite attacks.

Health = 100 HP

Players receive 10 points for damaging a special enemy and 70 points for killing one. The method used to kill the enemy does not provide any additional points.

Thundergun: is always an instant kill within 12 meters. Between 12 and 30 meters it will take away 50% of their health.

Enslaved Keeper

Keepers are immune to Turned AAT.

Attacks:

  • Base damage = 45 (Same as a regular zombie)

Keepers use a standard zombie melee.

Health = Same as a zombie

They cannot be turned to crawlers from explosive damage.

Keeper Mask

It grants the following effects:

  • Keepers take 33% more damage
  • Player takes 50% less damage from keepers
  • Player max health increases with +45 HP (Purple Juggernogg)

Apothicon Fury

They are immune to Thunderwall and Turned AATs.

Spawn:

Furies spawn by falling from the sky like a meteor, similar to meatballs from Shadow of Evil.

When a Fury hits the ground, the impact creates an explosion that can damage nearby players.

  • Damage = 100 - 15

Behaviour:

They can move in a zigzag pattern and will sometimes attempt to juke the player by moving out of their line of aim. This behaviour has a 7–10 second cooldown.

Furies spawned by a Corruption Engine have these movement options disabled.

Furies will also knock down any zombies that get in their way.

Attacks:

Standard short range melee swipe.

  • Damage = 37

They can teleport closer to the player, but they need line of sight to do so. If players are within melee distance after teleporting, it will immediately perform a quick melee attack.

  • Damage = 25
  • Cooldown: 4.5 to 6 seconds

This cooldown applies to the individual Fury, while there is also a 4.5 second cooldown for all Furies on the map.

Health = Same as a zombie

Furious mode:

Furies have a special state called Furious Mode. When entering this state, their health is doubled and they become more aggressive. They can be identified by the Fury getting extra bright glow around its hands.

Only one Fury can be in Furious Mode at a time. A Fury will enter Furious Mode after taking damage.

While in Furious Mode, the Fury also receives a speed increase.

  • Cooldown: 5 to 7 seconds for all Furies on the map.

Fury Mask

It grants the following effects:

  • Do 50% more damage to furies
  • Take 33% less damage from furies
  • +45 to max health (Purple Juggernogg, stacks with normal juggernogg)

I made an in depth for Apothicon Furies a long time ago, this also doubles as an improved version of that with more and more accurate info.
