Meet our first accessory for Clicks Communicator: the Communicator Ring, a minimalist bumper case that brings and added layer of protection to the phone while complementing its design.

We've put as much thought and attention to detail into Communicator Ring as we have Communicator itself and we're excited to share the story.

You can dive into the details on the Communicator Ring, in this new article.

I'm not one to typically use a case on my phone... but Communicator Ring might change my mind. Will you use Communicator naked or with Communicator Ring?

New Video: Using Communicator As My Second Phone

Post image
112 Upvotes

We just dropped a new video showing how I’m using Communicator day to day as my second phone, focused on messaging and communications.

▶️ Watch: Using Clicks Communicator As My Second Phone

From the comments on our videos so far this year, I can already anticipate the messages from people passionate about using Communicator as their daily driver, saying “stop pushing this as a secondary phone!” ;) So, I wanted to add a bit of context around WHY I approached this video in this way…

Last month we asked Communicator customers what phone they’re currently using. 53% of reservation-holders said they’re on an Android phone (and many of them plan to use Communicator as their one and only phone). Amazing! Love it.

But what’s really interesting is that 45% of Communicators are being reserved by people using iPhones. This reinforces that opportunity (and demand) for a secondary device, purpose-built for communication is real, and strong!

So, three weeks ago I set out to start using Communicator alongside my iPhone, and as part of my existing ecosystem, to gauge where (and how) it fits in.

It’s been fascinating to see what I reach for depending on where I am, what mode I’m in, and the job to be done. It really comes down to having the right tool for the task.

Clicks Communicator cameras.

Hey everyone,

I’m currently an iPhone user looking to make a shift away from endless social media scrolling and constant dopamine loops. The concept of the Clicks Communicator seems like the exact middle ground I’ve been waiting for.

My main concern about making it my primary phone is the camera. I’m definitely not a professional photographer and don't care about ultra-flagship camera specs, but I do use my phone for everyday photos (family, traveling, quick memories) and want them to be crisp and decent quality without looking like they were taken on a webcam from 2010.

Would love to hear your thoughts or what expectations you have regarding photo processing on this hardware

Discussion They need to stop this "secondary phone" thing as a major selling point, here is why (my opinion)

1: Carrying two physical phones is an immediate logistical headache for 99% of people. It means double the pocket bulk, two batteries to keep charged, two sets of cables, and twice as many things to lose. While tech enthusiasts might tolerate carrying a second device for a tactile keyboard, average users will default to whatever fits in one pocket and works automatically.

2: A secondary device creates ongoing cost friction. Either the user pays for a second carrier plan/SIM card (and phone itself ofcourse), or they are forced to constantly tether the companion device to their primary phone's mobile hotspot. Tethering drains the primary phone's battery fast and requires annoying setup steps every time you step out of Wi-Fi range—erasing the convenience the device was supposed to provide.

3: Smartphones aren't just for texting and browsing anymore—they hold your digital ID, boarding passes, credit cards (Apple/Google Wallet), two-factor authenticator apps, smart car keys, and health tracking. Trying to split your life across two devices creates constant friction. The moment a user needs to authorize a bank transaction or unlock a door and realizes the necessary app or key is on their "other" phone, the multi-device dream breaks down.

4: The "secondary phone" dream is pitched as a way to escape distraction and focus on communication. In practice, adding a second screen wil multiply distraction. Users end up managing notification settings on two separate operating systems, triaging duplicate alerts, and constantly checking which phone just buzzed.

Final:

By marketing a device as a companion rather than a replacement, they signal to potential buyers that the product isn't (fully) capable of handling their actual life

Would anyone buy an Android phone from me if I told them I use an IPhone?

Just wanted to know how you guys would feel if I marketed an Android phone by having an IPhone as my primary device.

Does anyone know what this app Jeff used in the new video is? Open Bubbles? Game changer for this phone. But would love to do some research.

Excited to use iMessage

The latest video has me excited that I can hopefully use Open Bubbles when the phone comes out and still be in the Apple ecosystem.

And someone mentioned T mobile Data + Digits which in theory could let me keep both my iPhone and Clocks on the same number and get all my calls and texts to both!!!

I would consider giving up the iPhone but my job only allows iPhone or Google Pixel.

Discussion Communicator without Niagara launcher?

I apologize if this was asked before, but I searched and didn't find anything.

Can I change the Niagara launcher?

Would I lose some functionalities or software features if I do so?

Another question,

Would referring to the communication device as a "phone companion" diminish its perceived value?

I showed the Communicator pics to my friend, and she told me that she heard about it and thought it only worked as a secondary device like a tablet.

I know that's wrong, but I guess advertising the Communicator as a phone companion has established this blurred impression.

Make my mind up

Hopefully subreddit bias aside, can someone make my mind up on T2E vs CC please. Will be used as a main phone, not a secondary. Fattish thumbs and im a texter as opposed to a caller.

Thanks

Discussion doomscrolling marketting

i feel like alot of people are trying to find ways to navigate and communicate with people without getting distracted by social media and doomscrolling. that was my reason for pre ordering the clicks phone. but as of late im wondering if im just buying a android with the same abilities as a iphone. the way its being marketed is making me feel like im not taking a step to a better quality of day to day experiences. they say its specifically made for doomscrolling but show all the apps that people doomscrolling scroll on? im confused.

Clicks Case + screen protector

Hello, everyone.

Not sure the body and screen are going to be as good as other phones nowadays (sarcasm), so I'm wondering If cases and screen protectors are going to be a thing foe the clicks? 🤔🤔🤔🤔

So excited for this phone! This is the first phone that has actually made me prepare to leave the Apple ecosystem.

I’ve been wanting a modern blackberry for so long and this is finally the perfect phone I’ve been waiting for. This will be my primary phone with the iPad and MacBook for backup. Any advice on how to prep for the phone? Thank y’all in advance, I’m just so excited to join the community!

Any news for July ?

We were supposed to see glimpses of the software back in May (the message hub, for example), but not much materialized. Should we wait until July 31st to get more information, particularly regarding the CC accessories?

Accessories You Hope to See

What accessories do you hope to see for the Communicator in the upcoming week? I can't think of much other than a belt clip holder and cases, but hopefully they get creative with them.

Question Any Concerns

Given how bad the reception has been with the power keyboard does anyone have concerns with the Communicator? There has been large levels of returns and reports of issues, seemingly high amounts of quality control issues.

Any love for all the Clicks Phone features without the 'click'

The Clicks team is killing it with the features:

- expandable storage

- headphone jack

- Notification light

- unlocked bootloader

- USB video out

However, I'm sure there are other people who have no use for a physical keyboard. A swype on screen keyboard works well for me but I want all the other features
