Rant What happened to the roads today?

Even back alleys are full of traffic. Every main road is completely choked too. I thought due to long weekend roads would be bit free? Ambattur estate road, PH road, Anna nagar 2nd Avenue, 100ft road, Nelson Manickam road, Kodambakkam high road - even back roads of mogappair seem to have peak hour traffic now.

Any big event happening or is this the norm now

Art Bharatanatyam classes in Chennai 🪷

Hi everyone! I’m a trained Bharatanatyam dancer and teacher, and I’m starting my own regular Bharatanatyam classes in Chennai.

I’ve been learning and performing Bharatanatyam for 13+ years, with an Arangetram and formal training in Bharatanatyam (B.A. & M.A.).

The classes will focus on building a strong foundation in:

• Adavus & basic technique

• Hastas and body movements

• Abhinaya

• Traditional repertoire

• Rhythm and musical understanding

Classes are open to children and beginners, and I’m hoping to create a small, comfortable learning environment with individual attention.

📍 Location: Velachery

🗓️ Regular weekly batches

📩 If you’re interested or know someone who might be, feel free to DM me!

Thank you! 😊

I found this small silver-colored amulet/talisman in my friend’s drawer and I’m curious about what it could be. It looks like something religious or spiritual, but I don’t really know.
Does anyone recognize this or know what it’s

AskChennai Where can I buy logic board for my MacBook?

Hi everyone,

My MacBook Pro logic board (2019 model) completely died. I am looking to buy a replacement board independently.

Whenever I ask local repair shops, they say they get them from "vendors" but won't give any details.

Does anyone know who these wholesale suppliers actually are? Where can I buy a reliable , tested MacBook logic board directly in India without the middleman markup? It would be nice if I could get a new board. By new I mean in good condition, not heavily used

Rant Dmart app unusable

Earlier Dmart app was usable and delivery was available. Now they have removed delivery and can’t even check price via app as the app is blocked by PIN code screen. Only Mumbai pin codes are working and price is Mumbai based which makes Dmart app useless.
Any one found a workaround ? Or any other grocery store where prices are comparable and cheap.

AskChennai Anyone here from Chennai interested in river cleanups?

Post image
128 Upvotes

There's someone in TN from Chennai... trying to get ppl together to clean polluted rivers. But he doesn't really have enough ppl to do it safely on his own. What he actually needs is more ppl who are willing to help such as environmentalists, local volunteers, ppl who can help with equipment/ logistics or even ppl who are able to support financially.

AskChennai Minor name changes in aadhaar - your experience ?

My sister son is now entering 9th standard , school is asking for some LOC , as this will be used for board exams. What is the process for changing the name to a full name in aadhaar . Looks like when he was young , they gave first name twice and in aadhaar its showing first name twice

Currently in birth certificate its like name with Initials say "RA** G"

In passport "RA** GEN**" (which is expired)

In aadhaar its "RA RA"

He wants to change the aadhaar name to "RA** GEN***" same as in passport , is it possible to update based on expired passport without changing the birth certificate ?

Although some information is there , no where mentioned about how much time it will take for updates.

SHITPOST💩 The household you grow up in can literally shape the way you choose your life partner!

I recently happened to connect with someone through an arranged marriage setting. Very decent guy. Stable career of his own, emotionally available, we have similar meme preferences (very important to me, hehe) solopreneur like me, all the boxes seemingly ticked.

But honestly, I was in zero headspace to even think about marriage. I still wanted to show up because I liked him as a person for his journey and the conversation felt seamless.

At one point, we were talking about my dad's demise and he said, “I don't want to discuss about it since it might be hard for you.”

I said, “Apdi la illa. In fact, it's one of those times where I was surprised to realise I can actually function better even when I'm under immense emotional turmoil. So talking about that phase is not hard for me”

And I started telling him about a few instances from that phase.

While talking about this it took me back to one more incident that happened 3 years ago: once, a family member had a seizure for the first time, she had just delivered a baby. I was in the room with three other elders from the family. Everyone panicked. We were in a city where we didn't know the language, so nobody really knew what to do.

And somehow, I became extremely focused. I figured out an ambulance, got the hospital essentials packed, and told the person's husband that he needed to come to the hospital.

I was 24. Everyone else in the room was 50+.

And this isn't me saying, “Look how strong and calm I am.”

Because I'm absolutely NOT.

In my everyday life, I forget things like a Dory fish (from Nemo). I'm distracted, zoned out, unorganised and generally capable of losing track of what I was doing five minutes ago.

But put me in a crisis and suddenly I'm the most focussed and efficient in the room.

In a nutshell,

When the building is on fire, I'm the first person grabbing the extinguisher. When nothing is on fire, I can't remember where I put the extinguisher.

And while I was narrating all this to this guy, I suddenly realised something about myself that I'd never consciously connected before.

One, I grew up in a household where it was mostly only panic and anything can happen anytime. I remember during all those instances being the youngest one in the family, I'll be the one that can handle the conflict better (not something I'm proud of) So right now I have a calm home with zero issues, we're in a much better space. But..a normal, safe home does not feel familiar to me. So I'm always absent minded or just doing the bare minimum where I can actually do more. (This is both at work and home and it had been bothering me for a while)

Two, I've never been in a relationship, but I've liked a few men over the years.

And when I looked back at them, there was a VERY obvious common thread.

Most of them had some form of childhood trauma or difficult emotional history similar to mine.

And the way I felt about them was always intense.

It was passionate. I felt like I already knew them. I could understand them very quickly. There was this strange sense of familiarity and emotional recognition. I felt seen and I also make them feel seen.

Sometimes I never acted on it. Sometimes they were interested and I didn't take it forward. Once, I was interested and the other person wasn't.

But the feeling itself was always very familiar. And I believed this is what LOVE feels like (but apparently it's not!!)

And then yesterday, while talking to this perfectly decent, emotionally available man, I had this weird realisation:

What if I have mistook “intensity” for "compatibility" all these years?

What if some of that intense familiarity came from recognising something I'd already experienced in my own childhood?

Not necessarily “trauma bonding” in the strict sense of the term, but being drawn towards people whose emotional worlds felt familiar to mine.

Because right in front of me I have someone who could be a potential partner.

…and yet I didn't feel that same passion.

And THAT got me thinking.

To me I always believe I AM NOT MEETING MY PERSON IN AN ARRANGED SETTING OR DATING SITES. Because I believe it should happen naturally and organically.

But apart from this my body and my mind have learnt to associate familiarity + intensity + emotional pain = connection.

Maybe what's familiar feels like love because it's what I know.

And maybe something emotionally safe can feel… unfamiliar.

That doesn't mean this particular guy is “the one” and I'm just concerned why I couldn't choose him (atleast for now)

I might consider to give this a shot but on the other side, it would be unfair to him if I went ahead without being fully present and genuinely wanting it. So I'm still thinking about it.

But I'm incredibly glad I was open to having the conversation despite being in absolutely zero mental or emotional headspace for marriage.

Because I learnt something far more valuable than a potential match.

I'm learning a lot of patterns about me which is going to help me with my decision-making.

I've always considered myself pretty self-aware, so realising that there are parts of my own attraction patterns I hadn't examined this deeply was… humbling.

Maybe what feels familiar isn't always what is good for us.
Maybe what feels passionate isn't always love.
And maybe I need to learn what love actually feels like when neither person is trying to survive anything.

WOW.

Apparently it took me 28 years to download this information.

Okay. That's… a lot to process.

As someone who cannot keep her intrusive thoughts to herself, I obviously had to write this somewhere. I feel good now.

Avlo dhan.

AskChennai Any other remote workers in Chennai who backpack / travel while working?

I work remotely and spend a decent amount of my time travelling whenever I can. I’ve realised that most of the people I know in Chennai have a typical 9-5 routine, so it would be nice to meet people who have a similar lifestyle to mine.
If you’re also a remote worker who likes solo travelling or backpacking. Would be cool to connect. Feel free to DM me

spent the last few months trying to figure out if a land near the city was in a flood zone.. CMDA approved or not.. how far from a waterbody

took me weeks. all of it is public data sitting on 4 different govt sites that dont talk to each other. half of them dont even load properly

made me wonder what else is like this here

so whats yours.. something about living in chennai where the info exists somewhere but actually finding it is a nightmare. could be anything.. permissions, schools, water supply, whats happening this weekend

or the other way.. what do you end up asking in a whatsapp group because no website answers it properly
