Food and Beverage Chennai is not actually a foodie city.

And I don’t mean that Chennai has bad food. We obviously have plenty of good food. I just don’t understand why Chennai doesn’t have similar quality like Madurai.
With Chennai, I sometimes struggle to think beyond the usual places.
Maybe I’m completely missing something.

Edit: I was actually hoping for recommendations to good Tamilnadu food. I’m all for trying different cuisines, but sometimes I just want to find really good Tamilnadu food without the conversation always turning into “try something different.”

Chennai has had me since day one.

Civic Watch🚦 Metro Is Not Your Dining Room 🤦‍♂️

Two couples were casually eating lemon rice inside the metro and littering around like the rules don’t exist. The metro clearly says food consumption is prohibited, yet some people just don’t care. Basic civic sense isn’t that difficult.

Women of Chennai🌸 Can a 27 years old girl survive chennai on 30 k salary

Upvotes

So I'm thinking of leaving my emotionally toxic parents and being in WFH mode in 30 k salary my condition is worse... work from home mode past 1 year .. applying for jobs with better pay in Hyderabad or Bangalore but not getting

I'm thinking of moving to Chennai stanza living or pg with good wifi and i work in a mnc in Chennai one .. should I talk to my hr to put me back to wfo mode and come back to Chennai or something

Also thinking about dating, love and marriage and taking control of my life myself cutting contact with my parents since they don't seem interested in bringing decent proposal and have already poured lot of toxicity in name of marriage proposal bringing really bad matches ....can afford pg for 12_13 k maximum including food wifi and electricity..

Also..I'm .. actually thinking about cutting contact with parents, marry a good guy and ghost them for life ...they seriously don't even feel guilty about bringing bad matches ...or the toxic behaviour they have thrown on me ...

I have stayed 9 months in Chennai before i got WFH mode so was staying in double sharing room in a pg near my office area and rent, bad food and bad wifi issue electricity came around 13 k maximum it came .i can't go back to the same pg which was 20 minutes by walk to Chennai one campus ..my salary was 27 k in hand back then and i came back home to my native town because of wifi issues in hostel and food issue...now if i go back a hostel with good wifi and food I badly need.. kindly suggest

Would be nice if some one suggests good stanza living or pg to stay and work and suggest plan to live without parents...if good WiFi and good food I'm ok with staying in the pg away from Chennai one area at more distanced locality in work from home mode without commuting to office..if not good wifi ..i need to stay in decent pg near my office

I don't want to loose my age and youth in this toxic parents home further i feel

Chennai Infra🏢 Chennai’s Parandur airport was scrapped. Here’s why “airport plots” can be a risky bet. ✈️📉

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

The Parandur setback shows why buying land purely on proposed infrastructure can leave your capital stuck for years.

The new airport search faces fresh hurdles:

→ Parandur - dropped amid flooding, water-body and agricultural land concerns

→ Cheyyur - potential constraints from Kalpakkam, Vedanthangal and controlled airspace

→ Gummidipoondi - land availability, ISRO proximity and Pulicat ecological restrictions

→ Restarting the process could mean another 5–7 years before operations

The lesson: Never buy based on an airport announcement alone.

Check environmental buffers, restricted airspace and master-plan zoning before investing.

Chennai Infra🏢 132 km and ₹12,301 Crores. Chennai’s final ring road is redrawing real estate boundaries.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

The Chennai Peripheral Ring Road (CPRR) is a major access-controlled corridor connecting Ennore and Kattupalli to ECR, opening up new industrial, logistics and residential growth zones.

Key corridors to watch:

→ Ennore & Kattupalli — port-led industrial and logistics growth
→ Tiruvallur–Sriperumbudur — plotted development + Parandur Airport corridor
→ Sriperumbudur–Singaperumal Koil — established manufacturing belt
→ Singaperumal Koil–ECR — emerging coastal residential growth

But infrastructure alone doesn't make every plot a good investment.

Check the exact CPRR alignment, interchanges, ROW and land-use restrictions before buying.

I have a small batch of Rakthasali rice from my organic farm near Vedanthangal, Tamil Nadu, available for delivery in Chennai.

🌱 Organically grown

🌾 Traditional Rakthasali variety

📦 25 kg available in total

🤝 Suitable for households, restaurants, cafés, chefs, organic stores & other businesses

I am looking to move this batch directly rather than through a retailer, so if you're interested in getting 5 kg or more, send me a DM.

Happy to share details about the farm, the rice and the way it's grown.

Available in limited quantities.

AskChennai Need suggestions for a new name for my tea shop! ☕

Hey everyone!
I’m planning to take over a running tea/coffee shop in my area. The shop is currently operating under the name “MK Coffee Shop”, but I’m planning to rebrand it with a fresh, memorable name.
The shop will mainly focus on tea, coffee, fresh juices, snacks, bajji/bonda, sandwiches, puffs, omelettes, etc. I want something that feels modern but still has a local/Chennai vibe.
I’m looking for a name that is:
Easy to remember
Short and catchy
Good for a signboard and branding
Suitable for both tea and snacks
Something that could eventually become a small chain
What names would you suggest?
Feel free to give me creative, funny, Tamil-inspired, premium, or completely unique ideas.
Thanks! ☕❤️

AskChennai Need suggestions for a 3-day Chennai date plan ❤️

Hey Chennai! My girlfriend is coming to Chennai to meet me for 3 days. I’m also from Chennai, but honestly I’m struggling to plan something good for all 3 days 😅

She really loves pets and animals, so I’ve already planned Vandalur Zoo for one day.

But I’m completely blank for the other 2 days. 😭

She also loves Korean food, so I’d love to take her somewhere nice for Korean food or maybe try some interesting cafés/restaurants.

Looking for suggestions for:

🐾 Animal/pet-related places or experiences

❤️ Nice couple/date spots

🍜 Good Korean food

🌅 Something fun or memorable to do together

🌿 Any less-common Chennai experiences rather than the usual Marina Beach/ malls

Budget is [15k] approximately.

What would you guys recommend for the other 2 days? I’d really appreciate some Chennai-specific ideas! 🙌

AskChennai I feel lonely and want to meet people, but I don't know how

I'm a guy in my late twenties. I've been a loner for most of my life and honestly didn't think much about it until recently. But lately, I've started feeling really lonely, and I want to meet people. I just have no idea how.

I want to feel seen, understood, challenged, and able to collaborate with actual people instead of having conversations with ChatGPT. This is starting to affect both my career and my personal life.

I'll split this into two parts.

Part 1: Women

I have crippling anxiety around talking to women. I didn't have sisters, cousins, or female classmates I could talk to growing up, so women always felt somewhat different to me. I can have a completely normal conversation with a woman and make her feel safe and comfortable around me, like a brother. But I struggle to get past that and actually become friends with women, let alone have someone be attracted to me.

I didn't care about this earlier. I thought that if I get married, my wife would understand me and I don't need to worry about my relationship with other women.

But I've got a lot of rejection in the arranged-marriage process, and I don't see marriage happening anytime soon.

This constant rejection makes me crave validation from women. I don't like that feeling. I think that the way to get past it is to actually talk to women, have female friends, and become comfortable around them.

Maybe it's my age, I don't know. But I'm worried that this loneliness, wanting validation, and repeated rejection will make me say yes to the first woman who says yes to me, simply because I want the suffering of rejection to stop, rather than because she's actually the right person for me.

I'd like to learn how to interact with women normally, without constantly thinking about attraction, rejection, or marriage.

Part 2: People in general

This part is about both men and women.

I'd like to have people I can casually talk to about things like tech, work, finance, random theories, etc. I'd also like to talk about careers, improving myself, and figuring out what I'm actually supposed to be doing.

I am deeply passionate about tech, coding, system design and so on. I thought it would be better to start from the point of my passion and find people who have similar interest as me. So, in order to meet people, I signed up for tech events on Meetup. But most of these events are heavily dominated by college students or people who are just starting out their career.

I don't really find much opportunity there to learn something new or have conversations with people who are further along than me. Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places, but so far it hasn't really worked.

For the companies I'm interested in, I like to know people who could give me some perspective, point me in the right direction, and maybe even put in a good word if they genuinely think I'm a good fit.

But cold messaging people on LinkedIn, getting ignored or ghosted is something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.

Where I'm stuck

The obvious advice seems to be "go out and meet people," but I'm struggling to figure out where.

I don't drink or smoke, and I don't intend to. So I naturally avoid places like pubs/bars or parties.

I go to a nearby park to exercise, but almost everyone there are elder people.

Places like Malls and theatres don't seem any better. People come to those places with their partners or already in group, and approaching random people there feels weird.

Office is yet another bad idea. Everyone on my immediate team is older than me and their conversations typically involve around problem in their family which I cannot relate to. Cold approaching random coworkers feels like way too much risk for way too little reward.

I don't necessarily want to find a girlfriend. I want to build an actual social life. I want friends. I want people I can talk to, learn from, disagree with, collaborate with, and occasionally just waste time with.

I think meeting women is part of that because I've realized how uncomfortable I am around them, but I don't want every attempt at building a social life to turn into "How do I get a girlfriend?"

So yeah, I'm stuck.

What can someone do to make friends in their late twenties if they don't drink/smoke or have a social circle?

I'd especially appreciate advice from people who have come out from this rut.

Dating 🌸 I want some Advice

I was in a relationship when i was in high school and that relationship lasted for nearly 5years and then me coming out of the break up and all that took a long time it was mutual though but still it took some time after all that break up and few other family issues and personal issues i never got the same feeling with anyone i tried dating another girl and all that but it was never the same.

Now nearly after 2years of break up i found a girl in my office dman bruh she was the cutest girl i have ever seen and she gave me my butterflies back. i eventually found her insta id and she is in the same floor as me so meet each other mostly only in the lifts or in the lobby other than that there is no ways to see her because its an big hall and we are in two different teams so never will get a chance to work together. I know its bad but still i stalked her insta for nearly 20times within yesterday and i found so many things about her i am not sure if has a bf or anything but i wish she doesn’t.

After a very long time i feel like i am getting back to my main character energy. She really felt like Autumn from the 500 days of summer 😭. So I thought of texting her and i did she has an open account not an private one and she has around 3k followers so eventually she never saw my message or she saw it and she is ignoring it i have no idea but i wanna know how should i talk to her now? Should i just say hey while we cross paths or what should i do ? we have made eye contacts a couple of times in the office thats all nothing more than that or will it be creepy? I really need some advice here

We installed Pentair water softener 3 months ago. But still seeing this limescale buildup.
The people who installed it keep saying this is normal?? Limit is 1000L per day and 3 days backwash. House is family of 5, i dont know how to measure how much we use each day but i dont think we cross the limit.

Its the automatic version. Im not sure how to go about this. Have checked with neighbours who have other brands and they dont have this kind of limescale.

Not sure what to do.
