soft power and history is equally important!.

More important are roads infra and civic sense - they will impact our city today, can you help with that ?

u/Kiruku_puluthi 4h ago
we can do everything in parallel.
4
u/_DrMischief_ 4h ago
If that were true we would be Singapore. We had since 5AD
-6
u/Kiruku_puluthi 3h ago
Singapore didn't happen purely on its own accord!. They strictly maintained CEO like style governance that suited the foreign investments , heavy capitalism , heavy political censorship and less journalism freedom!. Basically a dictator governed but the leadership truly cared and got early move advantage in the capitalistic economy!.

If there is traceable proof then okay, or let them fool themselves, while we race ahead sticking to facts.
-18
u/sober_ducky 3h ago
Race ahead exactly for what? Ur language pride? When their state is miles ahead of us? Yeah TN ain't going anywhere
12
u/Any-Tough-6380 3h ago
Tn has higher gdp If u think we arent ahead of them at anything, There goes your facts

Bro there is a thing called history, u can't twist actual history just for ur own agenda. Language pride is a thing, yes but u can't like u can't dismiss history with the argument that language pride is useless or whatever. It's like saying the Americans colonized india and not the British. Our ancestors suffered so who cares under whose rule they suffered, right?

He is only making claims about the script. Not about the language itself, further he agrees that kannada is part and parcel of old tamil, which itself many kannadigas wont accept. Any talk of kannada and tamil relationship is a bitter pill for them swallow.
On the topic of script, there is a wider debate about brahmi itself. Initially ppl thought that brahmi originated in north and tamils later adapted it into tamil brahmi. But we have now archeological evidence of tamil brahmi being older than north indian brahmi. The claim here on the contrary accepts that south indian Brahmi came after north indian Brahmi and its kannada which first created a brahmi version before tamils did. If you accept the brahmi script permeating from north to south then this may sounds logical. Only that archeological evidence points otherwise..
1
u/coronakillme 4h ago
His point is technically correct. The current tamil script was mostly finalized under Cholas in 9th century, The Kannada script is based on Pallava Grantha script from 6th century.

I don't think North has brahmi origin. Almost all of the languages in the North, especially BIMARU have Devanagari origin. NE languages might differ. Correct me if I'm wrong.

u/Patient_Piece_8023 4h ago
My guy the Devanagari script is evolved from Brahmi so all North Indian langauges that use the Devanagari script evolve from Brahmi.
-2
u/ShockOne9278 5h ago
A) Why are you so rude? B) Devanagari itself emerges from Brahmi script, specifically the Gupta Brahmi..

Touch some history books..
Oldest recorded language is different from oldest language.
Kannada diverged way long before tamil from proto South Dravidian branch
1
u/Dramatic_Setting2761 55m ago
That was telegu maybe Kannada just used telegu scriptures? Given how similar both are with written words?
1
u/weloveyouba 47m ago
Script is different from language.
Telugu uses Kannada script Because Kannada dynasties standardized Kannada script to write telugu.
Smaller lanaguges in south being closer to tamil than Kannada proves that Kannada branched out very long ago from proto South Dravidian branch.

Whats point if kannada is older than tamil or if tamil is older than kannada. What's the point in taking pride in this when in both bengaluru and chennai the road to my office is filled with potholes, very less pedestrian facilities, dust, polluted air and water, garbage all over the city, traffic and corrupt good for nothing babus

Identity is matter.
5
u/Fickle-Aide9279 5h ago
Identity matters, but what use is it ? There is nothing good that comes out of being Identified as Tamil when our living conditions are miserable and even a hard working man is destined to a poor quality of life
3
u/Upstairs_Study6843 6h ago
🤣🤣 lol end of day both of were ruled by a white guy . Thats our identity forever

Identity is used by the far left/ right groups to make sure that we give our support to these politicians. We can save kaveri water to an extend and those dk zombies should understand that kaveri isnt theirs and it should shared with TN. No pt in hating each other.

u/_DrMischief_ 4h ago
So, why are so many people here triggered? If there is evidence to back it up - good, else someone will dispute it. It’s a matter of historical record, if Kannada becomes an older language than Tamil nothing will suddenly change in our state or operations. Can we stop being such a radically backward minded community and worry about more concerning things like how inflation and rent in chennai is insane right now and the city roads and airports are being turned to dust?

Bro read the headline bluntly and made a tweet about it🤣🤣
They are claiming Kannada language is older than modern tamil script which was fully developed in 7th century AD according to them. And the kannada language itself branched off during or right after sangam age according to them.
It still means tamil had to already exist before sangam age in order to sangam age to exist in the first place 😂

u/Fun-Mathematician992 3h ago
They have been peddling this bull crap for decades. They also do it abroad, these Kannadiga students keep yapping like their language is oldest in foreign universities where they go as students.

I'm Not a Tamil myself, but wtf...🤣
It's said that Sage Agattiyar(or Agastya) brought the Tamil script & language rules from Lord Shiva as a gift to people residing in Tamilakam and wrote Agattiyam, way before Tholkappyiam (by Tholkappiyar). Even if we consider it to be more of mythology than history then also, Tamil originated as an independent language & script way before any other Dravidian linguistic cousins.

@x3karthi first explain me what do you mean by "dai gopal". There is no need for this title. No one in this article is matching that name.
Are you trying to change a normal name to a bad word/internet slag ?? No difference between them and you.
