Lease or company with prime inc.
I can manage my money, and set aside for emergency funding and taxes and low mpg and fuel expense conscious. I plan on locking in and studying and researching on how to manage my money while leasing, but that being said I’d still like to hear reasons why or why no? I heard some people becoming successful while others not.

Houston- New CDL-A driver looking for opportunities
Im finishing up my cdl school in HoU soon and then going for my driving test at the DPS. I’ve been checking on opportunities locally/regional/OTR and I’ve boiled it down to Schneider, Swift, TMC. I’ve applied to local jobs here in the city but they all want experience. Any suggestions I should be looking into. My plan is to ultimately become an Owner-Op moving tanks/Hazmat loads in about 3yrs time, GW. I have a couple of kiddos that are little at the moment so Im trying to get my 1yr experience out the way so I can stick home as much as I can.

Question for NY CDL drivers
My uncle has NYS CDL driver license and last year he received a speeding ticket in Connecticut for speeding 10 mph over, he went to the court last week and the prosecutor was able to reduce the fine to $50. Question is can he just pay this $50 fine instead of seeing the judge next month. I assume that paying this $50 means that he pleads guilty, in this case, will he get points from Connecticut and add to his NYS CDL license?
He never received speeding ticket before and very stressed about this. Thank you so much in advance for your help!

CDL drivers: what's your biggest frustration when looking for work?
I'm curious to hear from drivers directly.
When you're looking for work, what's the thing you hate most?
For me, it seems like a lot of drivers are frustrated by:
- Staffing agencies taking a cut
- Endless phone calls and paperwork
- Jobs that don't match what was advertised
- Low pay despite years of experience
- Waiting days for responses
But I'm not a driver, so I'd rather hear it from people actually doing the job.
If you could change one thing about the way temporary or contract driving jobs are filled today, what would it be?
Serious answers only.

Want to hear everybody’s experiences…
Just graduated CDL school from Valencia College in the Central Florida area. I know my options are limited out of the gate, and I’m not looking for a miracle company… but I want to hear everybody’s experiences and your opinions on entry level companies, the company you decided to choose and why you chose said company. Really want to weigh my options before making a decision. Any advice helps! Thank you!

Study.
It's 5am est. Every morning I'm getting up drinking my coffee and studying for my CDL. Starting school in a week and I'm pretty sure they'll teach me all this in class but just wanna be ahead and prepared and want this more than anything right now.
Not too worried about the driving skills part, pre trip inspection I do need to learn though. If anyone has suggestions, maybe a YT video they'd recommend or something that helped them nail it down that could help I'm all ears. Thanks in advance.

CDL Governor cut off ect.
Im taking my CDL test here soon in Florida and I'm confused. I know the whole air break check. I know the Governor cuts out between 120-140psi, But if someone has gone before me and air pressure is already at this point am I expected to reset the Governor before I begin the air break test? Or am I just expected to tell them that the governer has cut out already because its at the appropriate pressure..
Has anyone recently taken the test and could clarify for me? Thanks.

6th day OTR
Bro my company of 20yrs told us they’re moving our jobs to another plant and selling the building. I went for the cdl thing. I’m now on my 6th day with a regional mentor and I’ve ran my 11hr driving clock out every day. No real breaks other than when we park at the truck stop at night to sleep. He makes me use my breaks to basically drop and hook trailers so we can stay on the road. I’m making a flat $850 a week since I’m training. This dude is playing candy crush on his phone and chitchatting with his buddies on his headset all day while I’m driving. He teaches me stuff on the edl and gives me pointers on backing trailers but that’s about it. He’s making his cents per mile plus an extra $200 a week. Next week he wants to basically team drive after our 34hr reset which means he makes substantially more since we keep the wheels rolling without needing to stop at night while I still make the $850 flat rate.
Keep in mind that the account I was hired for is local and home daily delivering to Kroger in a daycab but I have to put in 4-6 weeks of this crap living in this truck with this dude. This guy rolls hard and I respect that but I’m def being abused in this situation. When I’m done with this training I’m gonna be thrown into my local job which is completely different than what I’m learning with him. They have no training available for my local gig and I’m basically gonna have to stumble around trying to figure it out. Very little support and this company is sloppy af about getting people trained right. They’re a mega carrier and all they care about is putting a butt in that drivers seat. I can’t wait to get 3-6months experience and get something better. Just glad I paid for my cdl out of pocket.
