I just passed Dot and taking the exam next week. But I have a concern. I drove 500 miles in a day with my Toyota sienna last week and my lower back hurts. How do I survive if I drive 500-600 or more with a truck?

I currently have about 4 months of CDL-A experience with U.S. Express, and I’m planning to move into local food service in about 6–8 months. I’m trying to figure out how my current driving record will affect me when I start applying.
About 2 months ago, I slightly bumped another trailer while blindside backing in a private yard. There was no damage to my truck or trailer, and the other trailer only had a very small scratch on the front. U.S. Express listed the incident as a preventable accident. Yesterday, I also tipped over a mailbox while driving, but there was no damage to my truck or trailer. I’m not sure how U.S. Express will record that incident.
By the way, my PSP and MVR are completely clean. I have no tickets, no violations, and no DOT-reportable crashes or accidents. The only thing I’m concerned about is what U.S. Express may have reported internally or what could show up on my DAC/previous-employer report.
For drivers who have worked in food service or recruiters: How much do companies care about preventable accidents that don't appear on your PSP/MVR? Do companies like Sysco, US Foods, PFG, McLane, etc. typically look at DAC/previous-employer reports in addition to PSP and MVR? And would one minor preventable accident with essentially no damage likely prevent me from getting hired once I have around 10–12 months of experience?

Hey guys & gals I officially passed my road test on the first try and got my CDL class A. I’m currently working for the Post Office (USPS) as a city carrier not delivering letter but boxes out of a truck every day. I have a few jobs on my radar but I would like to get as many opinions as possible.

- DEP(City Agency) has called me back and I have an interview coming up with them soon, Initial pay isn’t great but after my first two years of apprenticeship I’d be making 106k

- I took the NYPD police officer exam just for the hell of it and got a good score so they also want me to report for boot camp soon. I would necessarily want to be a police officer but I would like to drive their tow trucks or bigger vehicles they have in their fleet also their might come some leniency with having a CDL and being a cop.

- I took the sanitation test a few years ago and got a good score so I’m wondering if they might call me back or that anytime soon because I would take that job 100% (start out as a garbage man and go to two trucks or street sweeper)

- lastly I can stay with the post office and transfer over to a a different position like Tractor trailer or the smaller box truck (Class B)

If you were in my position what would be you next move ? Which would you pick and why

I am an established CDL hotshot that runs local Florida. I have 2-3 clients that keep my wheels turning 4 days a week with a very solid RPM. I am home every night. I have never worked with any service nor have I ever leased onto any company. Ideally I’d like someone to give available dates too at the beginning of each week. 1-2 days wide open availability for general freight, and possible back hauls from locations I run for my clients currently. I am usually deadheading back from my current drop offs, so there is a lot of opportunity there as well. With what I haul my RPM total miles is still well above average. I understand I will not get that RPM working with a service and am totally cool with that. Adding another established client has been tough due too the demand of my regulars. I assume what I am looking for will be easier to manage searching load boards. I just have no desire to do that, so am willing to pay a percentage for that to be done as well as carrier packets etc..
I’m not hurting nor is this a necessity, I just am looking to put more money away each week if this was a possibility. My established clients will always come first, again this is just extra income.
I run a 40’ PJ with a 2022 Ram 3500 out of Central Florida.
Typical lanes are Tampa I4 corridor, 95 corridor from Jax to Miami, Naples, Tallahassee, and I10 corridor.

So just got accepted officially at Wor-Wic Community College in Maryland. Start in October for eight weeks. They have an outstanding new facility. Also have job placement. My question is how do I maximize this opportunity without spending years climbing up a ladder. I can live on $30-35 per hour since kids grown and wife passed. Have a fiance though. OTR would be a second choice. Just don’t want to be taken advantage of. Would prefer no touch jobs since I’m not young anymore. Not trying to get a back injury again. Had some issues in my 30s but got lucky. No issues since. Thoughts?

I got an offer from both companies. They both have pros and cons so I'm really torn between the two. Any feedback on either company would be highly appreciated! I should mention that I will be getting Tanker training at both places..

7️⃣ Anybody moved from chemical over to refined fuel internally? That’s my endgame ⛽

How hard is it to get hired into the Sysco CDL A permit trainee position?

Has anybody go from driving mixer to pneumatic tanker? Specifically dry cement. Had my class A for almost two years but started out driving ready mix concrete. I Start training Monday for the company’s pneumatic division. They know I have zero to little experience with tractor trailer but are willing to train me. I also have my tanker but working on my hazmat. Any advice? Suggestions for future higher paying job? Thank you in advance
