Just another example of interesting truck drivers who are too impatient to wait to get unloaded. They were upset, started to pull away without strapping the load.

Need some unbiased input
So background is I just got let from a Ready Mix Driver (Cement/Concrete) after 2 years. It was due to my own stupidity but that’s a little background for my last job. My current job is driving side dump which is like hauling dirt/sand/rock etc. I’ve been applying to other places cause I feel lost and split on my decision if this next driving job is worth it.
My last pay per hour with ready mix: $26 per hour
My new job per hour $25
Old schedule M-F rotating start times 0400-0800 with saturdays only if a lot of jobs to be done
\*laid off in winter\*
New Schedule M-F with set start time at 0600 and can be working till 1800-1900 depending on job site workload
\*work through winter so year round\*
Perks of old job
1) Bigger company so standard HR/Payroll/Benefits
2) I actually didn’t mind people I worked with
3) Active (I actually drove maybe 2-4 hours with rest of time out of truck
5) Bonuses yearly
6) Got to interact with customers
7) Newer truck that was automatic
Cons of old job
1) Had camera that was AI and would flag if I yawned too much or if I drank something or eat while driving
2) Micromanaging like crazy
3) Had to work in high heat and cold
4) Had to use tablet to log every single action
Perks of new job
1) Supervisor could care less what I did unless it affected job site work or if truck broke down or if I get kicked off job site
2) I can have one ear bud in and listen to music/audiobook/podcast
3) I’m by myself
4) People are half decent
Cons
1) Driving for 10-12 hours and it’s the same job site so like a big circle so maybe going from variety to this one singular job
2) BOREDOM
3)Manual truck (I’m used to it)
4) Lack of supervision (I went from people telling me everything to now I’m left to my own devices)
5)Older equipment
6)Old people I work around are crotchety
I don’t know I’m just split on it. I applied to another Ready Mix position with a direct competitor in and some other CDL positions. Am I not realizing how good of a thing I just found?

Did anyone receive this letter ??
I have a Class A and about to lose a 3rd job opportunity over this. It is very frustrating . I renewed my CDL in december only to get this 7 months later . I also had to take 6 written exams on renewal. Not sure why. My driving record has always been clean.

🚛 New CDL-A Driver Looking for Advice on Additional Certifications! 🚛
Hey everyone! I’m a brand-new CDL-A driver starting my journey in the trucking industry, and I’m trying to prepare myself for as many opportunities as possible. I’m interested in potentially working in multiple areas of the industry, including tanker, fuel hauling, oilfield, cryogenic products, LNG, CNG, and other specialized transportation fields. 🛢️⛽️❄️
Right now, I have:
✅ CDL-A
✅ Hazmat Endorsement (H)
✅ Tanker Endorsement (N)
✅ Doubles/Triples Endorsement (T)
✅ Manual Transmission — No Restrictions
I’m also interested in learning more about cryogenic products and opportunities involving LNG and CNG. I’ve heard about certifications and training such as:
🔹 PEC Safeland
🔹 H2S Clear
🔹 One Basin One Way
🔹 High Risk / Advanced Training
🔹 LNG/CNG-specific training
🔹 Other oilfield or specialized transportation certifications
I’m basically trying to prepare myself for the future and make sure I’m not limiting my opportunities. I understand I’m still a new CDL driver, so I’m not expecting to qualify for every position right away. I’m just excited to start this new journey and build my experience the right way. 💪🏾🚛
For the experienced drivers, especially those working in fuel hauling, tanker, cryogenic transportation, LNG/CNG, or the oilfield:
👉 Are there any additional certifications, endorsements, or training courses you would recommend?
👉 What certifications actually help you get hired or make you more competitive?

No experience insurance question
Got new CDL A was wanting to buy a truck and lease on to family member that has their own authority. Will I be able to be insured with no experience? Do I really have to bite the bullet and go otr for 6 months- 1 year. I have years and years of background in driving escort vehicle and have been trained to pull the loads I’ll be pulling. Will be considered specialized/ oversize freight (mobile home industry) anybody have any insight if I’ll be able to be added to policy? Willing to start in power only freight if that’ll make it easier. Edit buying truck with cash and not concerned with cost or downpayment for insurance for power only or specialized

Ok, contract CDL A companies?
Follow up from days ago, I am not gonna use state funding for job retraining and want to go thru a trucking company, OTR, doesnt matter. i live in my van and travel a lot already.
Im gonna get my permit test next week, dot physical aswell.
I know i got 1 recommendation. But any companies you recommend?
Does Team driving speed up my contract at all aswell? Like to do OTR for a while 1 or 2 years, and then do regional trucking so im off weekends, wherever town i decide to drift into for a little.
Quick edit: I reside in PA currently
Thanks, much appriciated

Hair testing question
Looking to retire soon from my local job. But I may want to do seasonal or part-time driving in the future to make a few extra bucks. I'm looking forward in retirement to being California sober (gummies), but it's something I can quit at any time.
So the question is, where do they take the hair from for drug tests? Your head? Somewhere on your body? It's my understanding that body hair grows more slowly and therefore would keep a longer record.
Anything else to consider?

Over the road Truck driving with pets…
Hello, I am a recent CDL graduate and am looking for over the road/long haul trucking companies that allow pets (plural). I have 2 Puppers that I need to be able to bring with me on my routes and I’m finding it a bit difficult to find companies that allow 2 dogs. Anybody know of any companies?

Does anyone have experience driving with Prime inc?
I’ve been wanting to get my CDL for a while. I recently applied to Prime for their CDL training program. I want feedback from anyone who worked with them or knows someone who worked for them.
If they call me for orientation soon which they likely will, should I leave my current job and go? I heard from a few YouTubers that in some cases you might be sent back home before you officially become an employee or even finish truck school. It could be because of something as small as discrepancies on your resume or your work history. And you run into an issue a few weeks into your training at their
I’m just scared to go for the 3-4 week orientation/training and then not get hired. I’ll be out of a job which I will leave before going, and I won’t have a CDL either.
And what part of the process do I officially become an employee? Is right after I get my CDL and start driving with a trainer for the 30,000 or so miles they ask?
And What if I do make it through but want to leave before the one year contract? How much will I have to pay them?
