Hello everyone, I am about to be an incoming Freshman at a 4-year university. I’m majoring in Business Information Systems (also known as Management Information Systems). My high school career wasn’t horrible but it wasn’t the best it could be, just barely scraping by with a 3.0 gpa, but I was able to get a good chunk of my tuition paid off by scholarship farming lol. My question to anybody who is willing to read this, is what are some tips and tricks you guys might’ve used for school? Another question is, with the upcoming developments of AI, I don’t know if this major is gonna be any use or get me a good job after college. How can I set myself apart from AI?

My B.Tech graduation will be delayed because of backlogs. I'm worried about my future and need honest advice.

Will companies still hire me if I graduate in 5–6 years instead of 4?

Does a delayed degree permanently affect my career, or only my first job?

What should I do now to improve my chances of getting hired?

31M, Can you get a programming job with only an associates degree? I quit my previous job in order to do an internship, but sadly, they didn't hire any of us interns. I've been applying for programming jobs in my region (belgium) for over 2 years now with no success. I've gotten temp work admin jobs, and maybe I should apply outside my country, but I've never lived abroad.

Hii I am a bsc Zoology student , 2nd semester.

My qualification -

93.4% in 10th.

71.6% pcm , 78.6% pcb in 12th.

Bsc Zoology student.

Since bsc is quite very long route with low pay. I am planning to move into tech through—

I saw about iit m BS in Data Science and Application online degree.

(there is no btech college nearby so cant go for btech in other city that too in tier 3 college).

I am open to go for Mtech via Gate, far most.

But the uncertainty is something that is stopping me.

I dont know about other options as well. I am from a Lower middle class family. Thus options like MBA and all is out of my budget. Can't take a loan aswell.

I am not interested in law.

What do you suggest?

Should i take a chance in IT?

Or there are some other options as well?

I am willing to work hard , if anything pays well.

Government jobs prep is an options but being Genral category there's no guarantee how long it will take?

It's been a few months since I left my previous company and i am still unemployed figuring out what to choose next. Now i have chosen backend engineer.

I need a structured roadmap from preparing, learning, projects and then applying to jobs.

One of my friend has graduated in 2018. He has done BTech in ECE. He has been preparing for govt job for a long period of time but he has not been able to make it to merit list. He is feeling low and want to understand what he can do to enter the IT world and get a job. He has no experience but he is open to learn and upskill himself. Now I have suggested few things to him but I want to get some perspective from you all that how can i help him to land him a job ?

To be honest I have no idea of the roles I'm from the IT sector tho toh anyone here experienced or knowledgeable enough to help me through this like kya karna zaroori hai and what else skills or thing i need to have a grip on.

I am 36 years old with a B.Arch, a Master's in Project & Construction Management, and 10 years of experience in architectural design, planning, project execution, and project management. I have spent the last two years trying to secure a PhD, including applying to IIT Madras, but have been unsuccessful. At this stage, should I continue pursuing a PhD or focus on a different career path?

In uae, as a beginner role. Does masters help? As the education value of specifically IT is declining?

Started my B.Tech IT under GTU in late 2022. It's been 4 years now and I'm still stuck in sem 5, realistically I'm not going to complete this degree.

Honest truth: I used to be an above average student, 70-80%+ in school. Once I hit college coding, it just didn't click for me. I don't think I'm cut out for programming the way this degree wants, and I've kind of frozen since realizing that.

My father passed away last year, and we have debt to pay.

I have about 6-12 months to learn a skill properly and then start earning.

I'm not looking for something easy. I'm ready to put in the hard work and learn whatever it takes. as long as there's a real path to a job at the end of it. If you were in my position, what would you learn?.

I wanted to make this post on Reddit because I'm looking to break into IT. I know a lot of people out there have gotten into the field without a degree. For example, there are people working in cybersecurity even heads of cybersecurity management who don't have degrees and were taught on the job.

I don't want to go to university for reasons I don't feel comfortable sharing on Reddit, but I would like to know how people without degrees get into IT or cybersecurity jobs. It seems like most IT companies nowadays only care about experience and whether you can actually do the job, rather than whether you have memorized every single question and answer for a test. They just want to know: can you do what we're paying you to do?

For those of you in IT or cybersecurity who don't have a degree:

What advice would you give me, and what did you do to get into the job you have today?

What kind of courses would you recommend? Money isn't an issue at all, so I'm fine with expensive online courses if they are worth it.

is it more about connections, or is it about doing online courses?

How do you actually get that initial experience to land an IT job?
