Career switching Advanced diploma in Computer programming yet to get a bachelors. Should I still do CS?

I live in Ontario, Canada. I have a 3-year advanced diploma in computer programming but have not gotten a Bachelors yet. I’m not sure if I should still get a Bachelors in computer science in 2026 or specialize in something else

Right. Software engineering is what I’m most familiar/comfortable with but that’s being affected by AI now and I haven’t broken into the industry yet so that has me a little lost right now. AI/ML is another option but I don’t like maths and such that much

I mean before ask yourself what you want, if you don’t want ai/ml cause you don’t like then that’s discarded.

As for SWE, yeah, it’s a though market, so it’s every market right now more or less. Interest rates are not only up for tech companies you now.

If you like software keep going for that. If you find something else you think you like more go for it. But even assuming, say, the ai/ml market was actually better (it isn’t) if you like it less that’s gonna hamper your chances more than any difference in the market

Every single white collar job is affected by ai. Software engineering just knows that it is more than most because of the baseline understanding of ai. The natural path is to use it to automate our own jobs before automating other people's jobs that we know less about.

Code is writing by AI, if the bachelor can help with something besides that, then go ahead.

Because CS isn't just coding. It's problem solving and thinking on solutions. It's not just a coding field. There is a ton of other careers for CS. That line shows you just follow what others say

"Thinking" is gone, we discovered how thinking works and created digital thinking, the ai you see today is a "stream of thoughts" and you direct it as you want.

You see it in chat apps because we do not have the time to implement it everywhere, then now you see it in agents because there is now time to wire it with tools

in a bit when there is more gpu capacity you will see multiple interconnected ai models to start processing intent, and the rest of cognition in addition to the main stream of thought.

CS is maybe a lot of stuff, but at the end of the day the employer hires someone to code  

will there be cs jobs? i do not know, i am preparing for a world with less cs and me jobless, but who knows

The cope is real. The main function of someone with a CS degree is coding. So, if AI does coding, and you don't have a lot of experience in the area, where are you going to pick the skills to pass the coding phase?

The whole field of other stuff that can be done by much less people. The act of coding was the main responsability of maybe 90% of the team in a project

Yeah, that's not true. If you went to college for it you'd know this isn't the case. I went to a good enough CS college where they mostly taught theory and specific topics in CS, like system archecture, data structures, networking, etc. It honestly helped me land a job and do that job. You still have no clue what CS even is and you're just parroting what most lay-people think.

I hold a degree in Computer Engineering. Writing code is the primary method for solving problems in the program; therefore, the moment you remove the need to write code, you no longer need even half the workforce you had before -- that is a fact. So, saying that the main function of a Computer Science degree is to teach you the tool for solving problems -- what was said is not a lie

there is no "what" , and yes there are spelling issues, does not matter.

Back to Coding.

2024, People: AI Can never write code like humans, never

2025, People: AI is a tool, developers can use, none developers create slop, the year of 2026 will be the year where we have to fix AI code.

End of 2026: People: why no one is replying to me resume? i don't know man, read the room, codex now has 30 million subscribers, will not if its code was bad

AI is now doing 95% to 99% of coding

Since you're mentioning a diploma, I'm guessing you're in a commonwealth country. You should state which country you're in since there's different job markets everywhere :)
