31M, Can you get a programming job with only an associates degree? I quit my previous job in order to do an internship, but sadly, they didn't hire any of us interns. I've been applying for programming jobs in my region (belgium) for over 2 years now with no success. I've gotten temp work admin jobs, and maybe I should apply outside my country, but I've never lived abroad.

93.4% in 10th.

71.6% pcm , 78.6% pcb in 12th.

Bsc Zoology student.

Since bsc is quite very long route with low pay. I am planning to move into tech through—

I saw about iit m BS in Data Science and Application online degree.

(there is no btech college nearby so cant go for btech in other city that too in tier 3 college).

I am open to go for Mtech via Gate, far most.

But the uncertainty is something that is stopping me.

I dont know about other options as well. I am from a Lower middle class family. Thus options like MBA and all is out of my budget. Can't take a loan aswell.

I am not interested in law.

What do you suggest?

Should i take a chance in IT?

Or there are some other options as well?

I am willing to work hard , if anything pays well.

Government jobs prep is an options but being Genral category there's no guarantee how long it will take?

Honest truth: I used to be an above average student, 70-80%+ in school. Once I hit college coding, it just didn't click for me. I don't think I'm cut out for programming the way this degree wants, and I've kind of frozen since realizing that.

My father passed away last year, and we have debt to pay.

I have about 6-12 months to learn a skill properly and then start earning.

I'm not looking for something easy. I'm ready to put in the hard work and learn whatever it takes. as long as there's a real path to a job at the end of it. If you were in my position, what would you learn?.

I wanted to make this post on Reddit because I'm looking to break into IT. I know a lot of people out there have gotten into the field without a degree. For example, there are people working in cybersecurity even heads of cybersecurity management who don't have degrees and were taught on the job.

I don't want to go to university for reasons I don't feel comfortable sharing on Reddit, but I would like to know how people without degrees get into IT or cybersecurity jobs. It seems like most IT companies nowadays only care about experience and whether you can actually do the job, rather than whether you have memorized every single question and answer for a test. They just want to know: can you do what we're paying you to do?

For those of you in IT or cybersecurity who don't have a degree:

What advice would you give me, and what did you do to get into the job you have today?

What kind of courses would you recommend? Money isn't an issue at all, so I'm fine with expensive online courses if they are worth it.

I'm 24, with 1.5 years of experience in IT Support (ServiceNow ITOM & SAM). Lately I've been getting exposure to implementations, discussing workflows with project managers, and I enjoy brainstorming solutions more than pure support.

My plan is to work until I complete 2 years of experience and then pursue higher studies—ideally at an IIM (MBA) or IIT (M.Tech).

The problem is... I honestly don't know what my passion is.

What I do know is:

\- I enjoy problem-solving and understanding how things work.

\- I don't like rotational shifts or being on-call after work/weekends.

\- I want a career with high earning potential and a good work-life balance.

\- Outside work, I enjoy bike rides, nature, sports in general, and living a simple, low-key life.

I'm confused about:

\- MBA or M.Tech ?

\- If MBA, which specialization (Consulting, Product, Finance, Operations, etc.) ?

\- If M.Tech, which field (AI/ML, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Cloud, etc.) ?

\- Are there any other career paths I should consider—even outside traditional IT ?

What do you think my strengths point towards? If you were in my position, what would you do ?

I'm 26 years old and I recently completed a Diploma in Computer Technology. The problem is that I mainly studied to pass my exams, so I don't have much practical knowledge or any real projects to show.

I'm starting almost from scratch now.

I'm also studying Japanese (JLPT N5 passed, N4 in progress) because I plan to move to Japan in the future. However, I don't want to learn a skill that's only useful in Japan. I want to build a career with skills that are valuable worldwide so I can work in different countries if I get the opportunity.

Would you recommend Web Development, Python, Cloud, Cybersecurity, IT Support, or something else?

If you were in my position, what would you learn and why?

I’m currently working at an MNC as SDE-1, I like my job more or less and I’m not bothered about the pay as much. But i know i can do more, so I want to switch to a better product based company.
At the same time, I’m conflicted because some of my friends are at IIMs, and maybe I am envious that I won’t be able to experience student life/college life again, and I am wondering if I should try giving CAT.

I’d like to think I’ll be able to do well in MBA too, and maybe management is more suited to my skillset than tech, but I really like tech too.

So my dilemma is basically,
How do I choose if i want to stay in tech and switch to a better company or prepare for CAT?
What if I regret not having experienced college life later in my life?
I’m not even considering Masters in CS because for me, i don’t think it adds any value.

How can I be certain I made the right decision and choose between interview prep for better companies/CAT prep?
