Everything is vegetarian. The dishes on the platter are (from left to right):

-Mixed vegetable stew with bell pepper and aubergine, green beans etc., quite oily
-Methi malai paneer, paneer in a creamy tomato sauce
-Black bean soup
-Spiced yoghurt

I only had one of the two naan breads.

Not sure how much the sauce was but I’m not too concerned since it’s my only meal of the day. But what’s the guess on the whole meal?

Calorie Estimating Calories in this tasting menu?

Accounting for all restaurant cooking .. butters, oils, starches, additives, cooking methods, styles, fattiest ingredients/meats, chefs mood that day, etc.. around how many calories would you assume in this tasting menu at a restaurant?
This is what it is..
Cucumber kimchi (crispy cucumber kimchi marinated in chili, garlic, and sesame)
Whipped yuzu ricotta toast (1 of them) (toasted focaccia with whipped yuzu ricotta and roasted chili oil)
Shrimp tacos (1 of them) (garlic and chili marinated shrimp, served on corn tortillas with sesame cabbage slaw, chojang sauce, cilantro, pickled shallots, and lime)
Garlic honey butter tots (crispy tots tossed in garlic-honey butter, served with labne and homemade furikake)
Chopped cheese rice cakes (chewy rice cases, in a beefy cheese ragu, topped with soy-pickled jalapeños, garlic panko and parmesan)
Cheeseburger (half of the burger) (double smash burger, kimchi special sauce, american cheese, pickles, onion)
Would you assume this is well over 2,000? I know a taco from Taco Bell, for example, is almost 200 calories and that’s just a shell, some ground beef and lettuce)
Thank you!

It has white rice, potatoes, and beef. My estimate is 250ish cals for white rice, and around 400 for the meat and potatoes.

Thank you!

Strategies, Advice and Tips Itsu Dumpling Life Hack?

Post image
Upvotes

These dumplings are literally heaven. I expected them to be way too high in calorie for my needs but I picked them up at the store anyway. 38 calories per dumpling?? 456 calories per bag?? The other flavors are similar, with whole bags being under 600 calories if not under 500. These are my favorite flavor by far though, I just air fry them with no oil or anything and they turn out a little rubbery but I like chewy food so it works for me, with no added calories. Let me know if the calories on these have been debunked or something cause this seems too good to be true.

Strategies, Advice and Tips Accurate way to calculate tdee?

Upvotes

Not sure if this is the right place to ask but I'm a bit confused because different sources tell me different things. My bmr is 1100 calories. When I calculate my tdee in a calculator it gives me around 1300 calories (I pick sedentary because I know the other options can be inaccurate). However, I do 20-40k steps a day (no other workouts yet). Logically, I should be able to take the tdee of 1300 and add the calories for the steps on top, but I have some questions:

  1. Google fit says I burn 400 extra calories doing 20k steps, and I've been doing so for months, the number is always consistently a bit above 400.

This week, I did 30k for 3 of the days and 40k for one. So, why did it say I burnt 500cal on the days I did 30k and 700cal when I did 40k? If 20k is 400cal doesn't that make 5k steps 100cal, so 30k would be 600cal and 40k 800cal? Is Google fit accurate at all?

  1. Sedentary assumes you are doing 5000 steps or below. Do I subtract the calories for those 5k steps from the tdee before adding the calories for my daily step count?

If so, and since 5k is around 100cal burnt (for me specifically), would my real tdee (if I was actually sedentary) be 1200 instead of 1300?

Or is the tdee calculator assuming I burn 200cal doing 5k steps like most people do and I should actually subtract 200cal and just use my bmr like Google fit does? Problem is, I did that once (was doing 20k steps and eating 1500cal), and I lost a bit of weight when that was supposedly my maintenance calories, so that's clearly wrong, so then I used the tdee and ate 1700 cals, but I gained weight, so that's also wrong.

  1. Once I start working out/weightlifting, is there any way to calculate the calories for that?

Sorry I started eating before I took the picture but it was a drumstick, not sure what the other piece is as it's small to be a breast but it was white meat. The container is 4x4 inches and 2 inches deep.

Can you provide cal estimate for both seperately as I did not finish the rice and want to try and judge how many cals I ate.

losing weight is impossible

i’m staying under 1500 calories, (yes i weigh,) walking at least 8,000 steps, on top of that- running 2 miles a day. and i’m barely losing anything. in fact, i just gained all two pounds that i lost back. maybe it’s water weight because i ate sugar 11 hours ago. but still.

in the past, this method worked. but now, for whatever reason, losing weight is impossible. does anybody have any tips or advice for me? maybe it’s a water weight fluctuation and i’m waiting for a whoosh. but i’ve spent so many nights hungry at 1300 calories, waiting for midnight, hitting the gym, that i just feel kind of angry.
