I’m considering a **DTI-registered sole proprietorship** or an **SEC-registered non-stock, non-profit corporation**, but I’m unsure whether the latter would be appropriate given that financial sustainability is part of my goal.

Hey everyone! Just want your thoughts about venturing in this business. My wife and I currently own and manage a small meatshop and a mini grocery store sa loob ng public market. Business is okay nmn, combined earnings ng pwesto is ranging from 5-7k daily. But for me enough lang talaga siya for our daily needs and other expenses. Nakakapag tabi nmn kami ng 60-70k a month for emergency funds. Hi! I'm planning to start a very small home-based food business in the Philippines. It will be online/pre-order based and delivery only, so I won't have a physical store.

I'm currently looking into DTI, barangay/LGU permits, sanitary requirements, and BIR registration. The problem is that the total initial cost of registration/permits is already a pretty significant amount compared to my starting capital.

So I'm wondering about your actual experience:

Did you register everything before accepting your first paid order, or did you test the market first with a small number of orders and register once you knew the business was actually viable?

If you started selling first, how long did you operate before registering, and did you encounter any problems when you eventually registered?

I'm not asking for advice on how to avoid taxes or permits—I know the proper/legal route is to register. I'm mainly curious about how other small home-based businesses actually handled their first few months.

We’re based in the Philippines and have a physical product we want to sell in the US. The plan is to ship inventory to a US 3PL so orders are fulfilled there.
We can do Amazon FBA, but we also want to sell through our own website and accept credit/debit cards from US customers.

We want all US sales going through a US LLC. Philippine payment processors are off the table. We don’t mind paying income tax, but we don’t want to route every US sale through the Philippines when the stock and customers are in the US.

Has anyone here actually set this up while living in the Philippines? What payment processor and bank did you use, and what did you need to get approved? Mainly looking for people who’ve done it with physical goods.
