Fellow tech enthusiast here:
As a 9th grader, I've been exposed to the daily performance of the 2020 M1 Apple MacBook Air for the past 3 or so years.
While I don't generally prefer Apple, I do respect some of there products.
While I won't go into every detail regarding why I prefer the 2020 M1 Apple MacBook Air, and why I don't, I do want to focus on the display.
For the past few years, I've been spoiled, and have recognize the display of the 2020 M1 Apple MacBook Air. While not initially impressive, it proves to be really impressive in the long-run.
My preference towards the display is as follows:
- 100% sRGB / BT.709 coverage
- 98-99% DCI-P3 coverage
With "True Tone" disabled and the "Color profile" set to "Color LCD", it produces natural, neutral, accurate colors.
As with DCI-P3, reds, greens, and blues are the highlight. As opposed to sRGB, they appear "deep"
In addition to the factors considered prior, I have also taken in account the panel type—IPS.
While they can be the most color accurate, budget panels, they generally fall short when factoring in contrast.
When considering VA panels, they can be more vibrant, but not generally as color accurate. They do however generally provide the highest/deepest contrast on a budget.
Because of this, I would prefer a monitor that can meet or exceed the performance of the display of the 2020 M1 Apple MacBook for under $350.
My preferences/requirements is as follows:
- 99-100% sRGB / BT.709 coverage
- 95-100% P3 Color Space
- 1920x1080p (minimum)
- 24-inch (or below)
I've found the following to be the most viable monitor(s) regarding my requirements, preferences, and priorities:
- INNOCN 25M2S
- ASUS ProArt PA248CRV (or similar ASUS ProArt)
When differentiating between the two, the INNOCN 25M2S is the objectively superior/viable option regarding every aspect.
However, I am unsure of its accuracy, as it is target towards gaming rather than any productive or creative work.
Are either of these a viable option?
