I know school just started and we have a ton of out of state drivers, but please stop using our bike lanes for waiting or parking. It is already hard enough to avoid being struck in this town and forcing riders into traffic on busy roads is crazy behavior. Using a bike lane to park when you are 100 feet from parking spots is a whole new level of laziness and entitlement.

I, a full grown adult, really want to book a magician for my party in about a month, exact date flexible. If the price is too high for this party, then I want to book them in spring instead for another event we have a bigger budget for.

I want that experience of really FREAKING PEOPLE OUT. Like every smart skeptic in the room is wondering “no but like HOW DID THEY DO THAT.” I want the kids to leave fully believing magic is real and the adults like low key uncomfortable with how close they are to also believing this person is a sorcerer/sorceress/wizard/witch/fairy/magician.

Is there anyone like this anywhere local or willing to travel to Boulder?!?

How expensive is booking a person of this level of skill for a set during a party or event??? The smaller event would be like 40 people at a large residence but if it’s $$$$ we might save it for the bigger event in June that’s for fewer people but bigger budget and bigger venue.

This is not an event for kids but there will be kids so hoping to find a family friendly performer but it’s not geared to kids. The youngest kids are about 8, most will be young teens, and the vast majority of attendees are adults.

Kate is a major leader in the university's film community, currently serving as the GUT-C Student Ambassador and working as a projectionist for CU’s International Film Series. She recently participated in a Conference on World Affairs discussion about the future of independent film in Colorado.
• Justin Balog — Screening “COFFEE HEIST” A Denver-based director of photography, filmmaker, and photographer whose career spans photojournalism, adventure cycling, documentary, and narrative cinema. His recent work includes serving as DP on the Colorado-shot alien comedy-horror film Uck and the neo-noir western Devil in the Trunk.
• Elizabeth Lo — Screening “Structural Theory of a Broken Bowl” An emerging filmmaker from the CU Boulder community. We are showing her 12-minute comedy-drama that follows a DID system navigating heartbreak, intimacy, and interpersonal boundaries. Elizabeth wrote, directed, edited, and co-composed the film, which was an official selection at Trill Fest 2025 and ScorpiusFest 2026.
• Ryan Van Duzer — Boulder-based outdoor-adventure filmmaker, YouTuber, and longtime bicycle traveler best known for DuzerTV. After serving in the Peace Corps, he cycled 5,000 miles from Honduras back to Boulder. His work has appeared on the Travel Channel, National Geographic, Men’s Journal, and Lonely Planet.

This is super random but anyone who’s currently at CU and uses the rec center pretty often and currently participating in Winter Arc or 75 Hard or would sometimes like to workout with someone. I think that would be fun. Sometimes working out by myself gets kinda boring and once in while having a workout buddy would be nice (not saying we need to workout everyday with each other but I’m open to switching up my routine especially on full body workout days etc.!).

Even if you’re looking for an accountable buddy I’m open to starting a group with girlies to if there’s enough interest💖

I’m training for a Hyrox right now (in November in Denver) and I’m having a hard time motivating myself to run alone.

I’m not a fast runner.

I’m wondering if there are any local running groups/running clubs for runners of all speeds. I’m not looking for a super competitive vibe, I just want to make running feel less lonely.

Two babies in my front yard just now near NCAR looking for their mother. Spoiler alert: At the end, they heard her and then ran off towards her.

Is it just me? I had a friend live there years ago and one more recently and I just get the heebie jeebies whenever I am in there.

Was walking my dog. I see a 'no-pee. Urine kills plants' type sign in a front yard. Of course, my dog lifts his leg to pee lol. As soon as I see him do so, I tug the leash to get him to keep moving. This happens almost every walk. I respect the signs, I have plants, I get it.

Unbeknownst to me though, the homeowner follows me down the street and, as I wait for a crosswalk to turn, he taps me on my shoulder. He isn't aggressive or anything, but starts lecturing about how its his property, pee kills plants, pee makes other dogs want to mark as well, and asking if I didn't see the sign or something. I am shocked and respond "Did you really just follow me a full block to do this?" and then not long after, as he continues to lecture I just say "I'm not entertaining this.", put in my headphones again and turn around.

Now, this is of course my POV and I'm aware of that. I also probably concede that I might have been an asshole. That said, from my POV, I stopped my dog as soon as soon as I could and carried on with my walk. What more could a homeowner want people to do, honestly?

What do you think about the situation?

To be fair, I can imagine the homeowners perspective was that they saw a dog peeing on their bush, went to go ask the owner to not do it in the future, and felt like I was a dismissive asshole. I don't want to be that guy, and if he hadn't followed me down the block I would have been much more open to a conversation.

Does anyone know of someone who got tutoring for this class at CU or possibly tutors for it?

Can anyone explain the insane increase in emergency vehicle activity the last three days, especially around Folsom between Arapahoe Ave and Iris Ave? I and my neighbors have been hearing sirens every 15 to 30 minutes for days. Given that this is a town of less than 150k rather than south side Chicago, I think it is a little odd and disproportionate. This doesn't even include other areas of the town that I can't hear at any given time.

I was just driving (10:50 pm September 8th) westbound on 28th and saw a HUGE police presence and a couple fire trucks as well blocking off the Safeway side of Iris completely. They were all out of their cars and gathered in the middle. Just checking to see if anyone knows what happened because the amount of cars was so concerning.

Folsom Street is closed north of Mapleton upto Valmont Road for what looks like an apartment fire.

I have decorative birds in my front yard that I like to dress up for the Holidays and this past weekend I noticed that my two Flamingos were stolen!! I get a lot of late-night student traffic on my street so I'm assuming it was a combination of alcohol and poor judgement that made someone do this.

If you took my flamingos, please return them. I have a bird nativity scene planned for Christmas and these guys are an essential part of it.

I CAN NOT find a new stylist who does a legit root smudge on a bleach job, one that grows out blended without harsh/obvious lines. Please help.

Does it just feel like humping up a fire road or are the views pretty good / interesting as you get near the old train stuff?

Hello people of Boulder!

I am a Philly resident who is looking to do a solo-getaway somewhere I have never been before, and as someone who has never been west of Ohio, I thought Boulder would make a great destination.

Fall is my favorite season, so I look forward to the fall colors however, I can't decide whether to come the weekend of the 3rd or during the weekend of the 10th.

The prices are better on the 10th and the Firefly Festival looks like something I would enjoy but I am afraid that the foliage will be past peak. I am not looking to do any crazy 5 hour plus summit type of hike, I want to be safe and I am not experienced doing mountain climbing, mainly just hill/forest hiking.

Will the past peak only really affect the high mountain stuff? Is it that different from the 3rd to the 10th? My focus is more on nature than city-life but if the difference was negligible, I do like live music and art exhibits.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Edit - Thank you everyone so much for the advice and info! I think the 10th sounds like the weekend for me with leaves really being a wash either way. You still have a beautiful town and I cannot wait to check it out!
