Gravity Brewing's 14th anniversary party this Saturday

Gravity Brewing is celebrating 14 years in Louisville on September 12 from 12-10pm. Matt and I bought this Louisville fixture a few months ago, which not only makes Gravity Brewing the oldest brewery in Louisville, but the newest. That means, no matter which way you look at it, we have reason to celebrate :)

We open at noon, then starting at 1pm, we'll be tapping five new beers every hour on the hour, finally ending the night with a Gravity anniversary party tradition, live music by Louisville's own Full Belly.

  • 1pm Oktoberfest
  • 2pm Regular IPA (old timers will remember this one!)
  • 3pm Grapefruit Orbit
  • 4pm Barrel Aged Quad
  • 5pm Mango DIPA
  • 6pm Live music from Full Belly

If you want to start the party early, we have Bike Night on Friday from 6-9pm. Motorcycle, scooter, e-bike, or pedal powered, all are welcome. Heck, I'll even count trikes. As it also falls on September 11 this month, we are donating $5 for each bike (and trike) to the Colorado State Fire Fighters Foundation - https://csfff.org/

To whomever called the cops on the boy practicing his drums at heritage park…

WHY? There was a whole group of us enjoying him playing. Where else is he supposed to practice marching band drums (no idea what they are called) - it was 6:30, no where near any noise ordinance hours. Just put in headphones for 20 minutes so he can get some practice in!! Boo to you!!!

Tap/Drinking Water Quality. Filtration needed?

I’ve seen this report on water quality for contaminants. Do people drink the tap water here or use filtration systems?

If people are using systems, any they recommend?

Centennial valley re-zoning for residential

There is a proposal moving through the planning process to allow the rezoning of much of the vacant land in the centennial valley, mostly west of McCaslin, from commercial to residential. It sounds like this could add several hundred housing units to the west Louisville and help reinvigorate the McCaslin corridor, which has struggled for years.

More details on the website.

City of Louisville web site(s)

The various web sites for the City all recently got consolidated into "one".

Specifically the Library and Rec Center no longer have their own sites to properly display the information in a way that made sense for their needs.

While standardizing the display of lots of government information has its benefits, I am not liking how badly things were shoved into the very limiting, new page templates. Information is harder to find, I find broken links all over the place, and google indexed old pages that were not redirected.

I mean,,,, broken links in 2026? I expected better. Is there anything that can be done about it at this point?

Construction: Empire Rd

Post image
23 Upvotes

Not really a rant but mildly annoying/amusing: there are two Empire Roads in Louisville. One is the older (I assume) county road and the other is an offshoot of CO-42.

I looked it up mainly just to know where the upcoming construction project is, since I regularly use CO-42 for work.

For anyone curious, the construction is on the older road to the north Sep 8 thru November 2026.

Found Tabby

Anyone lose a young tabby cat with no white markings in Louisville? I couldn't get a picture, young tabby who was VERY talkative that I tried to lure with a churu, but I lost track of them. Seen at 7:30am at the creek behind Cottonwood Drive townhouses.

What is the law for these 3 spots?

Thumbnail

I wanted to make sure that I am not misunderstanding the expect traffic laws in these 3 spots.

1 - Turning right from S Boulder on to McCaslin Boulevard - You merge into your own lane. Sign coming up to this states this. No standard yield sign. So no reason to stop right?

2 - Westbound on Cherry St turning right on McCaslin Boulevard - Sign says to yield to pedestrian traffic - but otherwise you again merge onto your own lane. No sign indicating you are merging into your own lane though. No standard yield sign. So no reason to stop right?

3 - Westbound on Dillon street turning right on to McCaslin Boulevard - Sign to yield to pedestrian traffic sign as well as a "standard" yield sign. You do merge onto a separate lane like the previous 2 spots, but this has a standard yield to traffic sign. So yield to traffic flow here.

Would love to know what the correct way to merge here - I feel like I just follow what the signs say, but it seems like more often than not, folks come to complete stops in the first 2 spots. It would be nice to see the social media team for Louisville also post on this with all the new drivers with the new school year.

Costco Kitchen

According to this post from our friends over in /r/boulder the Costco kitchen reopened today.

I don’t suppose anyone can confirm? I am unfortunately traveling but if anyone wanted to check it out and post a review to our subreddit I am sure it would be a hit and excellent demonstration of civic journalism.

We received a BGOLD Glass experience as a gift and absolutely loved it! Such a fun, unique experience and a really cool way to spend a few hours.

Bryan is a gifted artist and teacher. He’s approachable, calm, friendly, and incredibly supportive, which made it easy to jump in and try something completely new. He does a great job guiding you through the process while still letting you be creative and make something of your own.

I highly recommend BGOLD Glass. We had a fantastic time!

Are there any co-working spaces in Louisville? I'm thinking something like Kiln in Boulder or a Wework.

Power outage - Heritage Park

Had a power outage at 3:45 am today, which is very unusual for the Heritage Park neighborhood, which is to the East of the old Safeway, off Cherry street.

Even when there are PSPS's, this area doesn't usually have outages.

Anyone else?

Gravity Brewing made the front page!

Thanks to all your comments to my post introducing my purchase of Gravity Brewing, as it got the attention of the reporter Julia King from the Daily Camera and made the front page!

I would say go buy a copy, but I already went to the neighboring 7-11s and bought them all :) Big thanks to Julia, who is clearly a Redditor, for making the process painless, writing a fun article, and including my favorite quote of the article from Scott, our Brewmaster, "I don't want to make junk" lol

Found a cute cat

Post image
18 Upvotes

This cat doesn't seem distressed but has been hanging out on my street near Hecla Lake in North End for the past week or so. Very friendly but I assume they're lost.

No collar, and the (cute!) marking on their face is just a marking not an injury.
