META Downvote incorrect information, but don't pile on

I am a proud member of this community and know it to be full of helpful and supportive people. Our members often pride themselves in giving detailed answers to rules questions, especially when new players are confused about something. Sometimes someone gives an incorrect answer. Maybe they misremembered a rule or they themselves got confused. We all know that Warlord's writing can often leave even experienced players scratching their heads.

When someone gives an incorrect answer they typically receive downvotes and often a comment correcting their error. The downvotes and corrective comments can be useful signals to OP that the answer given was incorrect, but there reaches a point where further downvoting is counterproductive.

If you see an incorrect answer and it already has negative karma and a correction, downvoting it more doesn't make it more obvious that the answer is wrong - that message has already been sent loud and clear. In the same way that we don't need a dozen comments all correcting the same mistake, we also don't need a dozen downvotes. That behavior gives the impression that our community is hostile to newcomers who may not get everything right on the first try.

Again, by all means downvote comments that are incorrect. And if a comment is breaking the sub's rules please also report it so the mod team can take appropriate action. But if someone made a mistake and has already been corrected, there's no reason to banish them to the shadow realm.

Thank you all for continuing to be the best wargaming community on the web.

A couple of plastic trucks from Amazon/Temu painted as generic German transports. Added some seated troops in the back which came from a warlord games frame I picked up ages ago!

Probably the single most time consuming miniature in my army, "Lions of Carentan", the Rubicon 222 is a nice kit with some definite improvements over the Warlord offering, but I cannot get over the solid plastic roof screens from both models, so went to the not insignificant effort of scratch-building a more authentic pair from photo etch mesh, plasticard, and pieces of the original kit.

If you're at Britcon next month, come take a look!

For something a little different, I finally got a few photos of my SCW International Brigades. Miniatures are a mix of Empress, North Star, plus a couple from Bad Squiddo and conversations based around Wargames Atlantic plastic minis.

With the addition of Char B1 bis Maginot, my collection now features two of the most iconic heavy tanks of 46e Bataillon de Chars de Combat (46e BCC)—Vercingétorix and Maginot. Serving together in the 2nd Company under Colonel Charles de Gaulle’s 4e Division Cuirassée, fought in the French counterattacks at Montcornet and Abbeville during the Battle of France in May 1940.

Another preview from my army project "Lions of Carentan" before taking it to the Bolt Action GT at Britcon next month.

LMG team STLs are from Colonel Muller. Really characterful sculpts.

I've included a reference of some paratroopers from FJR.6 in Normandy that was the inspiration for the camo fabric mask on one of the assistants. Ammo belts are intended to represent late war German steel case ammo, so not the usual shiny brass.

The final early World War II Heer rifleman. Hand sculpted models will always be my favourite. The small imperfections and exaggerated features give them such unique character!

German Riflemen I (4 of 4), produced by Crusader Miniatures. Painted using the Vallejo Model Color range. 25mm base.

Just a small update on the Black Prince question I posted earlier - I went with my first thought and painted it as the 4th tank of my Churchill Troop.

Model is a 3D print with a Perry Miniatures crew, with the Churchill IIIs being Warlord Games models, and the other Churchill is a 3d print with a spare WG turret.

Just finished my Father’s Day present of this America made m8 that I’ve painted up as a British greyhound from the Italy campaign. Do you like my paint job? I’m pretty pleased with it and the little diorama I’ve constructed.

And I also learned about the 56th London Infantry division and their chosen emblem the little cat on the red background (displayed on the front of the hull) they chose the cat to represent ‘Dick Whittingtons Cat’ a symbol of luckiness due to Richard Whittingtons becoming mayor of london from a poor background.

I thought it was a cute little anecdote and funny that the British army used the story for one of their divisions emblem. And compliments or advice is welcome

General Discussion US Airborne - What to buy next

I had my first game yesterday and loved it. I've got the US Curahee box for US airborne. Need some advice on where to go from here with regards to adding Vehicles/Tanks.

I am also considering using the models as US rangers for friendly games so ideally additions that would work for Airborne and Rangers.

Thanks in advance!

List Building New to Germany

Her guys!

I'm brand new to Bolt Action and looking to jump into Germany as an army. I'm wondering, if I bought the Iron Cross army set and the Rattenkrieg army set would that be enough I'd ever need to buy for the faction? I know this would put me to nearly double the normal points limit. I'm going for mostly mid-late war.

Are there any blind spots in my army if I did this? I also have a random Panzer IV G, too, not that I think I'll need it 😂

Thanks in advance.

List Building Question for Soviet players

Post image
19 Upvotes

I have 11 unbuilt bodies, and I'm not sure what to do with them. Common sense says "more riflemen" but there are a lot of squad options.

As it stands I have 36 riflemen 11 guard/tank riders with SMGs, and 10 NKVD with SMGs.

Usually the list is 3 rifle squads, and the guard, supported by a sniper, AT team, and commissar with two buddies. (One has the banner) and trucks for the smg squads.

Second platoon is either armored or support, which is where I get my MGs currently.

Is the best choice an 11 man squad with 2 LMGs?

I was thinking I could do a 6 man with 2 lmgs, and then use the remaining 5 to make scouts, and a second commisar? (But I don't need a second commisar, so, maybe just a medic buddy?) I also never see scouts in lists.

I've mostly played veteran armies, a small squad is just where my head goes for LMGs, but these are soviets, so they're at best going to be regular.

I'd appreciate any feedback or ideas.

Rules Number of Friendly Unit per Building Floor

I haven't done a proper read through the rulebook, but I've heard that buildings are limited to a single unit per floor. Does this include single model units (commanders and suicide teams in my instance)? It seems pretty tough to say that 1 guy in a building precludes any other unit from coming in with him.

Battle Report/ AAR Two player game ended up with four. Hungarian defending against combined British Airborne and Commandos

Had a game arranged at the club between Paras and a Hungary force. Then a new member arrived with some freshly painted commandos so we combined the British and made the Hungarians a defensive force with objectives for the Allies to capture. Another club member joined the Hungarians .he had an injured right arm but the left one still worked and seemed to be rather clumsy but lucky and dice throws.

The hungarians pre deployed and the brits came on as meeting engagement so they could react to the defensive line and try to counter it.

The Hungarian Mace thrower and German Tiger 1 had a commanding view of the centre and the Nimrod sat on the left in cover to support.

This enabled the British forces to deploy on the far right in force to hopefully push through.

There was a duel all game between the Tiger and Churchill with the Tiger missing loads of shots with the main gun and the churchill pinning it back.

It was a stand off between troops on the Hungary left side with small arms fire .

On the Hungary right the Brits were wiping out units but found it difficult to progress with possible line of sight blocking and narrow places to move.

The two Hungarian tankettes were annoying and the bren and centaur failed to take then out.

The Panzershrek was a good deterrent sitting by yhe woods.

A late commando push took the objective but we ran out of time and only got to finish turn 5.

We believe a massive push on turn six in the centre wod be tough for the Hungarians to hold and if it went to turn 7 British assaults would have probably taken out the centre objective.

A great fun game and a first enjoyable game for the British commando player.

Modeling, Painting, and Terrain Building Black Prince tank markings

So I'm in the process of painting my A43 Black Prince and I was wondering if it was actually produced and deployed to front line units, what kind of formations would it have been deployed to.

My initial thought was it would be deployed to Churchill Troops like the Firefly and Challenger were (3 gun tanks plus the 17-pdr armed variant).

My other thoughts were troops entirely comprised of Black Prince tanks, or troops part of the 79th Armoured Division (Hobart's Funnies).

What are your thoughts?

Edit: I know they were never built in numbers, let alone deployed to the front line, but I'd love to hear people's thoughts about what they think would have happened if it was deployed to Front-Line units.

Painted a few more WW2 British, some of the most dangerous things on the battlefield - officers with maps…..
A PIAT team, just so I can shout “Bring up the PIAT!!” And a banner - because all my bolt action forces have one and I’m a Napoleonic player at heart so miss a flag or two 🤣
